- Spence and Ash have been working very hard on designing and fabricating our very own Super Beetle COMBO LIFT SPINDLES! We are very excited about this, as it will give us over 4 more inches of ground clearance. This means we can go over things much faster with less worry! 😉
These are our very own invention. Spencer came up with the design over a year ago and we ran with it. Between sourcing the material, blueprinting everything out, and then actually fabricating it, it was a long journey. We couldn't be more happy with the end result! Four more inches to roll over things with ease 😎

hello, here in northeastern Brazil it was very common in the 80s to use vws, which we call Fusca, to make bajas. But they were very simple adaptations, fiberglass kits and larger tires were used and we were ready to put them on the beaches and dunes. Congratulations for the projects are very creative and with a much more elaborate degree of construction compared to what we have here in Brazil.
Hey guys! I'm Ken. Live in Florida. Ive built some badass Baja's back in the day. Won a car show in Gatlinburg TN in the Baja class. My last one I built was a 74 super beetle. I didn't upgrade the spindle but I installed additional coil shocks in front of the stock strut. Still had full turn radius. I really gave it a beating doing some amazing stupid shit going off roading in TN. I had to make an adjustable bar connected to the top of the struts inside the trunk to keep the strut towers from bucking in on jumps. Ive really put those front ends to the test. One thing you have to do is beef up the bottom control arm. They tend to buckle n crack right where the away bar connects. Weak spot. I just used some iron n tacked it in. It's a must. A rear skid plate is a must as well. Cutting brakes is a wise thing to install as well. It will save you ass when you have that one wheel spinning. Lock that one wheel n all your power goes to the other. I also set my valves at .007 instead of .006 in hot weather. Take it easy Bro! 😁

I was concerned about the bracing on the spindles - till I saw how Spence tied in the steering arms. Nice!
Was that a one spline turn on the rear? Just be aware it's going to kick a tiny bit more on the whoops. Any more on the rear lift and things get spendy quickly! For now, looks good! Normal driving you won't notice it, but it will be tiny bit more tipsy on the side hills. Nothing a little right pedal can't get you out of! Haha
Yes, we added one inner spline tooth of preload to out oversized torsion bars. They were set with no preload before... We will see if the rear kicks up too much lol

I’ve got a ‘74 Super, been looking a cheap standard for my grandson and I to make a Baja out of. Might have to rethink that. I see that you’ve got the 71 - 73&1/2 ball joints that bolt on. Wondering about how something like your setup could be used on the press in ball joint type. On second thought, I remember seeing somewhere that your style control arms are a lot stronger than the later ones. Anyway, super job, you’ve got mad skills.

The problem with the S B front end is that strut design, not the spindles. Will not handle off road abuse.

Since you have had it on the road a bit now, is the bump steer more noticeable? I used to have the California prerunner look als. But with 33s in the rear and 30s up front it looks level. I love how much fun you guys seem to have...thanks for the videos.
Haven't noticed a difference on the bump steer. We used the original geometry for the steering arms 🤙

awesome!! yes reproduce them! but first, how have they held up/ ur playng with the suspension geometry there. Any alignment issues?
They have held up great, we bashed on her harder than we ever have for our first dunes trip and she did awesome. We were able to do jumps and everything! We did put the tow out a little at the end of the first day, but after we adjusted it we didn't have any more issues. I'm currently editing the footage now! Trying to get the video out by Tuesday 👍

I have a 1973 Super Beetle; will your lift kit work for my Beetle?
No, the later years have a different spindle setup. But you could use porsche struts to give yourself a lift. The Europeans use later super beetles in rally racing, you can look into that and see what they do to get them rally ready 👍
I’m trying to raise my 1973 Super Beetle; is that possible? Everyone is telling me no, it is not.
I'm not sure if the later supers have the same spindle design as the earlier ones, I would have to look at one to know. But if it is the same then yes you could theoretically use all the same mods we did on the Dust Buggy for any year Super beetle, including the custom spindles we made that give us about 4 inches of lift in the front. However you HAVE to brace the space in between the strut towers or the bug will collapse on itself eventually if hit hard enough

Yes, eventually. First we need to get some testing done and magnaflux them, then figure out how much it'll cost to reproduce them
