I seen him in 77 when he opened for AC/DC he played with UFO and they've been one of my favorite bands ever since He's been one of my favorite guitar players ever since.
I will never forget the first time the needle hit the vinyl on this album. Waiting so long between the release of Lovedrive and this. What magic. Schenker is still my all time favorite.
@@zeppmann9333 Yes. I believe he only played live for a few shows on the Lovedrive tour, London and Paris if I remember correctly, then quit and went solo.
Michael Schenker and Phil Mogg of UFO made some awesome songs together......But his 1st solo album showed all the doubters that Michael Schenker Group had arrived...UFO was never the same
Michel has without a doubt been my favorite since i was 11 years old .im 57 years now nothing has changed . Still love his music Hes one of my hero's .That will never change.
I had to learn this song for a jam in June 1984. The key was one note too high for my range but i reached it okay. We played three concerts together and it was a blast. Hello Stuart, Steve, Ian, Garry, Pritch and Andy Cooper.
Always an amazingly talented and gifted guitarist and when you see a flying v, he is the only one you think of using it......been lucky enough to see MSG a dozen time over the years....AWESOME
Every time I see that flying v it reminds me of Randy Rhodes too but Michael schenkers always been one of my favorite guitarists I seen him when he was with UFO they opened for AC/DC in 1977. $3 concert
If you've never seen Michael Schenker in concert, you're missing out on a fantastic show. I've seen him about 8 times now, and I've never been disappointed. Michael will stay after most times to chat, take pictures with the fans and sign autographs.
I'll always remember seeing Schenker in Manchester UK some time ago...after gig he was signing stuff and the staff said shh Mr. Schenker doesn't like loud noise...ehhhh ! Bloody good gig though !
This makes me crack up, sooo cheesy but I still like it. !! Memories, I used to play this song (guitar)in my first band circa 1982/ in 1982 this was already 'old' haha. kids man, are ridiculous :)
First Mike Schenker song I ever heard and still love it to this day! Man he has SO many great tunes I've not heard before wishing him much health and success!
Studio is Simon Phillips.. but i saw this With Cozy Powell on drums. The infamous Cow Palace, California. 1981. They did the whole record except Lost Horizons. THEN...Natural Thing. Too Hot. LIGHTS OUT. Doctor , Rock Bottom. UNBELIEVABLE.
I have not heard this song in at least 30 years. I searched it today because I suddenly flashed to that arpeggio group in his lead ...while I was playing..damn I was lucky to have experienced it. Thanks to Butch and all the cats at Dr. Music in Pasadena circa 76-85. We had some great times...but my hearing is fooked. I love you guys.
Great to see an actual video for this classic! I think the nurse is a Hipgnosis staffer or model - she appears on the back of Rainbow's Difficult to Cure, again as a nurse, from the same year, 1981.
🎸🙋♀️🎶Armed & Ready is still one of my all time favorite songs! Michael Schenker you’re a genius! Listened to all your songs over over & over! Covered this & for a long time opened my shows with Are You Ready To Rock? Great lyrics to get crowd going!
Schenker was a hero of mine during my love of Rock music.... guitar riffs that just made you want to play it over and over again... then seeing it done live just blew my mind away 🤘🤘
You know for me this very song was going to be prime indicater if weather or not Michael Schenker could still kick ass on that Flying V like he did on all those UFO albums especially the live, Strangers In the Night album that I wore out more than once from repeated playing and, well this song( and whole album it came off of) did prove that Michael could indeed still rip on the guitar. Love this record.
In the period metal hardly got on UK radio. It was the Tommy Vance show, one hour a week on Radio One or nothing on BBC, and it was worse on TV until MTV years later. Maybe the occasional play by John Peel. He could get away with playing anything, and wasn't bound by the BBC's playlist censorship whatever. There wasn't much room for German metal, after Led Zepp and Iron Maiden and Saxon and Thin Lizzy, just because of the shortage of airtime. I don't know how it was in other countries. And the music industry is unforgiving to old bands which weren't the biggest names on the planet, so people have to find out by accident or word of mouth.
Always loved Michael and UFO..and the scorpions..love drive is magnificent. I really like beware of scorpions..check it out..Always felt UFO was better with Michael...songs were better...
y was at the rainbow at this time, Simon was a studio drummer at that time he recorded it. It is only to compare the version of 2010 and 1981 mainly at the turn of the dish at the beginning of the song.

You could place this song right in the middle of Judas Priest Stained Class album and I wouldn't be able to tell it was anyone else aside from a couple licks in the guitar solo that only Schenker could have done back 45 years ago.

Few guitarists rocked the Flying V more than Michael Schenker and K.K. Downing. I know there are others who did but those two guitarists known for their love of Flying V's and using them to create some particularly masterful guitar work have made the most impression on myself.

Wow, all these years and I never knew there was a video for this.

Same for me. At the same time it is not the best tune of this great album and it now looks old fashioned.

I have a cassette of Gary Bardens singing a song called Shine a light that never got released, its superb.
I can't believe its 44 years since i bought this album after hearing it at my aunties house and still listen to it alot.
In my opinion, Michael Schenker, George Lynch and Ritchie Blackmore have the best guitar tone of all the hard rock guitarists.
Add Mr KK Downing to that list
And the Nuge.
Schenker highly best
Gary Moore deserves a spot too
And what about Eddie Van Halen?
We need a group like this to come out and kick our asses outta of the dullness of the new music we currently experience.
I think it's important to start any metal song with the lyrics "Ohhhh yeah".
This drummer also plays drums on Judas Priest Sin after Sin! Chech it out!!!!
...and with pretty much everyone else for the past forty years! Simon P rocks!
