most Zimbabweans don't know the beauty of their own country primarily because of lack of exposure. I personally started knowing more about my country when I actually left it

Back in the 80’s 90’s Zim was one of the few post colonial success stories in Africa - given our history there was so much goodwill and promise , tourism and the economy were booming , Brits and other Europeans were immigrating to Zim , our infrastructure was one of the best in Africa…our currency was one of the strongest in Africa…when I left for the UK in 89’ Zim dollar was 3 to the British £££ ….:everything drastically changed in the 2000’s 🥲

It was designed for 400,000 white people but the rest of us where lucky to get clerical jobs in the city. Now if you visit, you will find it's thriving and there are more buildins, Harare has tripple in size, mansions being built everywhere. It's not perfect, still bad politics but it's certainly improved since Mugabe left

Birioti's wife is a true representation of Shona culture. Women can either kneel or bend the knees when handing over food at the table. Bending the knees is also used to greet or welcome visitors. Its called a curtsy in English. A curtsy is a traditional gendered gesture of greeting, in which a girl or woman bends her knees while bowing her head. Its also practiced in the British royal family and many other European countries like Spain, Denmark etc. Some things which we think are African are also found in Europe and Asia. Thats why I like reading deeply about other cultures to find connections.

True Zim beef is really different from ours in kenyan , I had Zim friends and stayed with them close to 4yrs and let me tell you maina I loved every part of it,I learnt shona coz some words relate to Swahili I miss them wallah

That’s a beautiful house. And an FYI people from many Caribbean islands wear their flags especially when they are in the United States or another country. I guess because here it is such a melting pot, people want to distinguish themselves from all the other different kinds of people here. I guess in Zimbabwe most people living there are from there. So they don’t have to distinguish themselves from anyone else. When you go to a Jamaican restaurant or a Dominican restaurant and you don’t know what kind of food it is, the flag will be your clue.

We don't just build houses in Zimbabwe we follow strict council/government building rules...the country has strict building regulations and inspected every stage of your construction process with city council-approved and certified inspectors. If u fail an inspection you're made to demolish and rebuild until u pass inspection and this is done on every stage of the building process..u can't proceed to the next stage if u don't pass inspection..we just have high standards in Zimbabwe periodt!Our country has good builders as well 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼

Actually Zimbabwe has the most educated people in Africa and this reflects on the way they build and finishes.
Thank you for this comment. Having been to West Africa as a Zimbabwean, I was always questioning their finishing in buildings.
This isn’t necessary because they study here in SA with us, it’s time to snap out of this. The house is beautiful.❤
Unfortunately, that was in the past. Majority nowadays are uneducated due to poor education system which fails to provide basic needs to public schools, children don’t have school books, many in the rural area sit under trees and share one book among multiple grades because schools are neglected. There is a very low budget for education, most of it goes to Land cruisers for council members & repossessed farms & range rovers for MPs. Such housing projects are private owned, many of which the shareholders are government officials.
80% of Zimbabweans in South Africa are doing unskilled work. We know them for being uber drivers, househelpers, gardeners etc so really this educated stereotype or generalization has aged like milk. Are they hardworking? Yes majority are however educated please my sister do not go there. I feel like most African countries have educated citizens so lets leave it there.

WHY is the toilet in the water closet in such a spacious bathroom lol?! So many bedrooms and so much space; tall ceilings, a garden and plenty of balconies. I love it!
