    What a great safety video on how to hand catch my Mavic Pro! I have always been extremely nervous even thinking of hand catching my bird and this really is a great method that is well explained. Nice to know you don't have to turn off the front sensors while it is facing you. We appreciate all of your videos!

    Thanks. Good to know. Sometimes it's just too windy for a landing pad.

    Great idea!! It's more like your "taking the drone down" compared to landing it on your hand!

    This is super helpful. do you have to turn all the sensors off OR put it on "sports model" in order to land it frontfacing you?

    • @D7dronetech
      @D7dronetech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, don’t need to turn of sensors or change the flight mode. Easy and safest in my opinion.

      @@D7dronetech interesting... wouldn't the down-facing sensor cause the drone to fly upwards when the drone senses that your hand is approaching the bottom of the drone?

    • @D7dronetech
      @D7dronetech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, your avoiding that sensor by having the drone face you so the sensor is further back where your hand would grab the drone.

    Well thought and elegant method, thanks for sharing! I am curious about a hand - take off version. I travel with my bike and do not carry a landing pad. So I let it sit on my hand, motors off, and then swipe the yellow switch on the screen with my nose. It works, but I would not mind a better trick.
    Some people gently throw it, which is cute. How does that work?

    • @D7dronetech
      @D7dronetech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, no special way to hand launch other than how you mentioned. Throwing sounds risky and wouldn’t recommended it at all. Happy flying!

    I extend my hand flat and keep it very stable. Then I land it on the hand that is super flat and not grabby, and as the motors disengage, i get a bit more grabby. Otherwise the drone senses resistance, thinks its wind and tries to compensate. This can lead to it escaping, or going into you or even worse your hand.

  • @miket7402
    @miket7402 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@D7dronetech I tried it a couple of times a few minutes ago with my M2P, and you know, I think it is easier your way. The first time my hand triggered the bottom sensors, but the second time I brought my hand in more from the front and didn't trigger the sensors. Also, I think the motors shut off quicker/easier with this method. Cool! Thanks!

  • @T3M0T4Y
    @T3M0T4Y 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So you mentioned gusts of wind and having your fingers pointing toward the props earlier in your video as a risk, I still see the risk with your solution.
    The key to doing it safely is to land, not catch. The downward sensors perform 2 functions, obstacle avoidance and landing stability, it's up to you to teach your drone that your hand is a stable landing platform rather than an obstacle to be avoided, simply place your flat palmed hand beneath the drone, it will initially identify your moving hand as an object to be avoided and rise away from it, but you just have to keep your hand there and after the drone has stopped rising pull down again and it will identify your now stationary hand as a stable landing platform and land on it as gently as it would on the ground and shut down, no grabbing, no fingers pointed toward the props.

  • @dfwald4657
    @dfwald4657 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Having the drone face you doesn't work any better with the Mavic 3 since both downward sensors are almost equally spaced on the bottom from either the front or the back.

    When turning the drone to face you, do you need to turn off obstacle avoidance?

    • @D7dronetech
      @D7dronetech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question. No you don’t. However, you won’t be able to fly the drone towards you which is a good thing, and can approach the drone to hold it.

  • @dustnuri

    With the controller do you just hold it down to the right to shut off motors?
