      So I suggest waking up a little and to not be so dismissive. 230 hp and 350lbs is not to be sniffed at in a light fr wheel drive car. Plus what a45 does he mean? Because it would keep up with an early one easy. A new one not so easy especially.

    looking at buying a used Octavia TDI with some intent on tuning, however I have concerns about emissions (passing MOT etc.) so I want to keep the stock down-pipe (and dpf if i go for a newer car) so I am looking at just upgrading the turbo (and injectors, if it would help) is this a realistic expectation, if so what would be best out of a 1.9-PD105, 2.0-PD140 2.0-CR140 or the CR150 from the mk7 platform? any advice would be welcome

      Did you look at the graph? Peak power after 5000rpm

    • @hungrysurfer9471
      @hungrysurfer9471 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DarksideDevelopments yeah i checked it on the graph. After 4200rpm the torque is failing. I can see hp is good at higher revs. I used to find out on track in the lower gears using the mid range torque was slightly better for acceleration. But horsepower is better for top speed in the high gears so i would rev it out in 4th 5th and 6th gears for faster sectiond. But slightly short shift 1st to 3rd gears and ride the torque / boost curve.
      One day if you have some spare track time do back to back acceleration runs 0 to 80mph 1st to 3rd gears, mid range vs high revs with the same car. You will be pleasantly surprised.
      On a big track like silverstone gp its worth 3 or 4 tenths. And in a long race slightly less fuel consumption.

    • @DarksideDevelopments
      @DarksideDevelopments  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what car you had but this is not the case with our big turbo cars. Torque has to drop, it has to be the same as hp at 5250rpm, look it up!

    • @hungrysurfer9471
      @hungrysurfer9471 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DarksideDevelopments I raced F308 Dallara in the MSV F3 Cup a few years ago. We had 208 to 212 hp and 155 to 160 lbs of torque from a restricted atmo 2.0 litre depending on fuel map. Bear in mind with me sat in the car but no fuel it only weighed 552kg. We had data logging telemetry. 1st to 4th gear if we rode the torque curve and short shifted acceleration was slightly faster. But at higher speed 4th 5th or 6th gear corners using high revs was faster to overcome wind resistance and push the car through the air. HP is more for top speed Torque is for acceleration and going uphill.
      On your fabias torque curves 3200 to 4400 rpm is where the peak torque is. I can see hp climbs all the way past 5000rpm.
      If you have basic telemetry you can test what I discovered on track years ago. Torque is beter for acceleration and HP is for top speed. Somewhere in the middle of the speed range is a transition of when mid range torque gets beaten by higher revs.
      My roadcar is an old bmw E90 330d Msport 245hp with a full emmission delete and remap. I also took it to Birds BMW for a suspension and diff upgrade. This transforms the car. I think i have over 300hp and over 400lbs of torque.
      Steering feel is great. Traditional bmw hydraulic set up with loads of feedback. The youngsters brought up with modern electric steering dont know what they are missing out on. I tested an f30 and G20 verson. No comparison. The steering feel of the road surface is removed so they feel like japanese shoping trolleys from honda or toyota.
