In next Fridays video I make some repairs to Wave Rover and prepare her for what will be her most challenging passage of the voyage, a direct non-stop passage to the East coast of Canada (Prince Edward Island). I also say goodbye to the many great sailors that I met in the Caribbean.
Undoubtedly, Alan, you made the right choice considering the circumstances. I appreciate your video tour of the island and for bringing us along. Well done. Darryl
It was the right call. Good for you for having the ability to realize that. You might not have completed the trip but but you proved that you and Wave Rover were more than capable. And it’s a blessing in disguise as you are to get back the wife earlier that planned. Congrats. You may not have a accomplished a stated goal but you most definitely accomplished the goal to share the journey to show not only what it is like but that it is possible to those who truly wish to commit to the process/journey. I personally want to thank you for the inspiration. What I do with that inspiration remains to be seen. But you planted a goal that was never there to begin with. Thank you.
I have really enjoyed watching your videos. So sorry your voyage was not the original plan, but I am glad you are safe and healthy. There will be other boats, and other journeys! Thank you for giving us all this glimpse into your travels. Fair winds.
Really the only correct decision there was to make. A prescient one at that given the viral nightmare. Fair winds and following seas to you, Sir. Hope you try it again someday, on a bigger boat so the Admiral can come along. 😃
Done a bit of Sailing, also on a tiny boat. The fun starts when you look up at the moonlit sky, you see the top of the mast and slightly higher than it and heading straight for you is a wall of blackness ! I prepped my boat similar to yours many years ago. Infact its almost identical. After looking at your videos, I am really impressed by what you have done and how you have prepared the boat, the one tip i can give, is Loosen off your solar panel fittings and make a kind of A frame bungy support, so when they get hit with heavy seas they spring down and return to position. Big flat surfaces, Big Water Forces.
Another great video thank you so much! You definitely need to consider becoming a travel reporter do you have a great storytelling ability and your videos are always pleasant to watch
Okay, everything has an end, I have enjoyed following your trip, especially because it was on a small boat like what the most of us have. Regards Jimmy the Dane.
crazy to think that most people talk of extending a trip by a few days or possibly a couple of weeks, but because of the pace of a sailboat, you are talking about adding a year. Sailing certainly gives you time to stop and smell the roses. Looking forward to hearing about what it was like getting back into Canada during the C-19 crisis.
Read Moby Dick, a brilliant read and equally brilliant story, The Pequod left Nantucket bound for a five year voyage, back then all Whaling Ships voyages were between three and five years, a real hard life
@@davewestner My wife and I have travelled over 30,000 nautical miles at 5 or 6 knots. It's great for putting things in perspective and for truly learning that Mother Nature is always in charge, whether we admit it or not.
It's so nice to see the Maise Rose again and think about 8 years ago when i crossed whit Mac. I would love to get in touch with him again but it would be alredy enough if you said him hello from Michele(Italy). Thanks a lot ...All the best and always fair winds!
Great video and a wise, decision. We were all good to go south and covid broke our plans. Such is life.. a safe decision is a good decision. Great of you to fly the Canadian and provincial colours. Looking good ratted up. Great accomplishment
Always trust your instincts and never second guess yourself. You definitely made the best choice 👍. Have you decided what your future sailing plans will be now ? As your selling wave rover it may perhaps be the perfect time to get another project boat, after all I don't think anyone will be doing much traveling for a while Covid is rampant.
A wise decision. Having cracked ribs and then Covid-19 would make it very hard to travel to places and get any medical help if required. Better to return home to PEI where things are a little more normal. Will keep watching to the end.
small boat without crew would,nt be allowed through panama canal i guess you planned to go alway round coast of south America or alternative load boat onto a truck drive it through colombia and panama
difficult but wise decision for sure. The global virus situation has made everything questionable.. Thanks for your adventure and taking us along! Looking forward to the other videos
Nicely reported..sensitive explanation..obviously you are 1 terrifically talented & focused, articulate, & adventures dude..please put my contact inf. in 'The To-Do' file..& consider a hike or two when in Calif. and Monterey County...contact me for exact details..m& perhaps consider flat-bedding WaveRover out to the west coast..Seatle maybe...then cruise the Straits of St.George & the rest of the passages..into Canada. Good decision to return home! You can go back again! The plague that came from China taught me one thing: the security in which I thought I lived, after all, never existed! At home I am safe.

great, mature, prudent decision

For the now. I am limiting my “sailing adventure” watching and concentrating more on “how to sail.” Type videos.
I have really enjoyed watching your videos. So sorry your voyage was not the original plan, but I am glad you are safe and healthy. There will be other boats, and other journeys! Thank you for giving us all this glimpse into your travels. Fair winds.

Wow, thank you!
Serendipity intervened in the 2 year voyage, but oh what an adventure you had regardless! Happy you are home safe n sound.
Always great to hear from an Islander. Thanks for the comment.
Good decision then and with the benefit of hindsight- an even better decision with the hindsight we can exercise today.😀👍⛵️
You could go round the Horn in that little boat, great series, the best yachting one on TH-cam as far as I'm concerned
Thank you!

Everything works out for the best. We are glad you made it home safely. Once PEI opens up, I hope we can meet up over a Timmies.
Sounds great!
Tough decision, and as you said moot as it turned out. You lived a dream for most of us. Cheers with some rhum!
Thank you and thanks for understanding.

did you personally modify wave rover's entryway/hatch? its so nice compared to the default contessa 26

All respect to you and Wave Rover Alan - for sure you made the right decision. One nit to pick... It’s Fort de France, not Fort la France.
Appreciate that.
