Anaconda is my favorite Map because it requires alot more skill related to drifting and less about shortcuts. The shortcuts are how well you cut into the turns without drifting too wide. If you’re skilled enough and get in front, you can take that lead to the finish without anyone catching you.
I don't know can't really call someone able to drift in this kinds of games skilled as it's one of the easier things to do but taking those damn shortcuts require a lot of real skill and Rocket Racing does a good job at limiting player options Mario Kart is a nightmare of exploits I would say that some Rocket Racing shortcuts require frame perfect execution to not die or hit a hazard while drift well you just tap the button and hold a good angle.
It’s funny that I’m champion 45% and no one is doing the runs like you, usually the guy winning 1st aren’t crashing the car and do some shortcuts (not all shortcuts), that’s it. Until elite you can get very easy lobbies that you can win only drifting and using nitro on straight lines. This video helped me a lot, now I’m going to practice because I want to get the purple effect before the season ends, thanks a lot!
16:56 I love staying in my own lane because sometimes I find ways and routes that others haven't. I try my best to not be a copycat and to be as original as possible.
What are your binds/controls . I'm asking this because I have air dodge/ drift on (PS4) square and jump/thrusters on X and still can't hold the boost while jumping. Is it just skill issue or are the binds just badly placed? Sorry for bad English, it isn't my native language, hop you understand.
You can hold it in air by holding “square” but you can’t steer otherwise you will accidentally aerial roll. You may have to move air dodge onto its own separate button.
I have drift bound to RB and air dodge still on X. Or on PS4 that would be R1 and square. I would give it a shot and see how you feel, but definitely find a button for each of them.
Hey Blair, just found you tonight while researching to learn the damn air drifting because I've been stuck at 76% Champion since Neon rush released, what i dominated before the air drift, now i have no chance with it. Quick question, how come when 3 people in front of me actually hit the fire, i don't, i drift between them, im still behind them no matter what i do. Is it something to do with ping or fps I've heard plays a big role... What is it.. I play on a PS5
Bruh I didn’t even know there was a drift button. I assume there was but I was using wrong button so then I thought it was some way u have to move the car to make it work Post 3 games - went from 12 places streak to 2nd places. Thank you ☠️
Great tips. been wondering how I'm getting beat on some of these maps. Do you find it better to to multiple small drifts in large turns to keep speed up rather than to chain drift and get a bigger single boost?
heads up. if you're having problems with a bullshit map turn on airplane mode on your computer or console as soon as you see the map and as soon as you go into the loading screen close the game and once you go into the game you shouldn't lose any points but only use it on difficult maps because the next time you win you will not get the exact points but it only happens one time until you do it again
Is it better to get 1 full boost bar instead of 4 less than halves? Since the full one gives you a higher top speed and lasts longer. For instance, on tilted turnpike with the long wide turn with the crane, isn't it better to have a max drift rather than smaller ones reaching 750?
Yeah it is better in that tilted turnpike short cut curve because drift boosts do not Stack. The best way is to get a drift boost, drifting with that boost and realeasing the new drift boost as the old drift boost ends. It depends on the curve. For example the first curve of pleasant pit stop: I suggest you to go at the out side of the curve, drift a bit and Release your drift boost and drift the rest of the curve.
I haven't experimented in the difference, I don't hit it immediately. I'll wait then hit it before it expires. If anyone has any other insight, that would be awesome.
i think that it does make a difference by stretching out the time your car is at a boosted speed because once the boost is done you slow back down to regular speed
Absolutely, if you wait till the last moment you cover more distance. I wait at least 1 second before pressing it a second time. This also makes a difference if you boosted into the turn and wait just a second longer to straighten out using the 2nd boost. It just depends on which turns.
Can you please explain why drift and air dodge need to be different buttons? I don’t see when they would need to be used at the same time, even when holding drift boost through the air.
As long as you understand the advantage of having them as separate buttons and the disadvantage of having both using the same button then it’s pretty straightforward. The biggest advantage of not having them shared is if you are in air or even catch air during a drift boost you can steer without accidentally rolling while holding the drift button. I ran into this issue on Anaconda having both share same button. There is a sweet spot in both S turns where you can unintentionally catch air and side roll which naturally on instinct you try correcting the issue by releasing the button and lose that drift bonus. Having them separate you won’t side roll in error. You can also float and turn in air while holding the drift button to maintain a drift bar you built up. Hardest part is readjusting to that setup if you haven’t been doing it when you wish to actually use the side roll.
It allows you to hold your drift through the air easier as well as makes it easier to dodge while holding your drift. I know you are able to dodge and hold with it all bound to the same button but with practice the setup will feel cleaner.
5:10 How can you point your car up? Did you used the air pitch? I'm a keyboard and mouse user, and since most of the playerbase is on controllers, it's really hard to figure out which key I need to use.
Ok so after a few tries I noticed that for some reason it's nearly impossible to point the car up. The aerial pitch doesn't really do anything, and the car is still plummeting trough the ground. Edit: I tried to compare the difference between with and without the aerial pitch and the movements are exactly the same. The reason it doesn’t work for me is because the car goes in reverse in both cases instead of changing the vehicle’s rotation angle during the aerial pitch.
I can confirm that its almost impossible on keyboard. I cant tilt or air dodge down, i have to use S for that buth its the car reverse so it slows me to almost 0. And they do keyboard and controller in same lobby so its extra hard. Also i play on eu west, and am elite. Buth i cant rank up anymore, for some reason 1st place gives me 2%, 2th place 1%, 3th and 4th 0% and becoming 5th gave me -5%. I am afraid i wont be able to geth to unreal this way.
Do you build up more boost in private matches? When I’m on airborne 2 now I drift even more than you did on this route and only end up with 2 never the 3rd boost Edit: just tested on windy way doing the exact same route. In my champions match, I only build up six total boosts. And that was trying to drift literally as much as physically possible. But in private match I got 7 total while drifting less leaving 2 for the last stretch.
Without opponents it's easier to take an optimal route and gather more boost. However I tried in this video to only talk about using the boosts when I would normally use them in the race.
1:01 Anaconda
4:16 Tilted Turnpike

I can officially declare after a day throwing ranked games, i can now do the tilted turnpike shortcut
Very nice!!
Yoooo that tree flip barrel roll was crazy nice

Just hit Elite, and I used some of your tips. Thanks, buddy 👍

Lol, the drift Button is mentioned in the tutorial. Make sure your drift Button does work.
I have a Controller where the drift Button does not work

the best is to get a little drift and reset, the start another one right after and you’ll keep that drift boost speed
Thank you for the video🚗🚙🏎🚓
No problem 👍Thanks for watching!
How do to keep the drift when jumping? When I jump my car straightens forward
Make sure you are holding your drift button when you jump.
Could we get Tilted Turnpike to the timestamp? Great video btw!

On Olympus i cant get up where the tents are, it keeps giving me the 3 sec count to get back on the track
If you go too high going through the start/finish line it doesn't register at the moment.

Will Puddle Jumper 2 get its own video seeing how it's not in this one?
Yeah...forgot about that one apparently. I'll figure something out.
Is it worth holding the turbo for longer? Meaning, clicking Y and waiting until the last second to click it again. Or just click it when it pops up?
I haven't experimented in the difference, I don't hit it immediately. I'll wait then hit it before it expires. If anyone has any other insight, that would be awesome.
