- Happy 202! This tune seemed fitting. So I went with it. Huge Zombie fan and a bigger Black Sabbath fan so I played this much more in keeping with Zombie's track but did implement the Speak Of The Devil and Tribute versions of the breakdown. As always, I hope you've all had a great week and have an even better weekend! Any / all support is so greatly appreciated. And for those paying attention, name the movie sampled (by me - not by Rob Zombie) and you get some drumsticks.

Shera, I am one grateful, GRATEFUL dude reading that. Please know how much I just appreciate you watching but it goes to another level of gratitude for me when the mix, the song and the approach is enjoyable to someone. For real - I get on here and always hope the final product is something people listen to and enjoy. It's been a minute since doing that but the song itself gave some room for interpretation with the ability to pull from Ozzy's versions, Sabbath's versions, this version and so many amazing drummers take on things. This ended up as a blend of my appreciation for White Zombie, Black Sabbath and drummers like Tommy Aldridge. Made my day reading your comment 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Just finished up your latest on your channel and YES SIR! I totally forgot about that song. Jars of Clay is actually a band I ended up on a bill with way back when and they were damn good! (Didn't meet 'em, talk to 'em, nothing like that so no good stories. I just caught part of their set). The snare in this one is "enhanced" LOL! There wasn't a ton of crazy ghost notes or a ton of snare work so I worked with a feature in Reagate that converts a gated snare to a midi note and then I brought in a sample. Blended the real snare and the sample for fun. The movie is Deuce Bigalow LOL!!!!! The dude that says "That's a huge b!tch"
Dude I've never heard this cover before! White Zombie and Sabbath.... So good. Those linear fills in the breakdown are squeaky clean and I cant get over that snare sound! This might be my favorite of yours now! Killer work bro!

Trey this is the first Black Sabbath tune I ever heard, one of my mom's friends had Master of Reality and I put it on just because of the album cover and proceeded to have mind blown! This is a super cool version, hard to do justice to an epic such as this! Your drumming on this is stunning as always I'm always so jealous of being able to spin sticks like that mid in the middle of killing it like that lol! Dude those drums just sound thunderous for real! You are Trey B, the man, the legend and I'm proud to count you as a great friend, one day we will party like it's 1987 or anytime during the 80's and 90's and also the 00's and 10's and a few times last week, will be crazy bro!
Well, if we party like it's 87, I have to go back in time but my partying standards at that point were a 9 piece McNugget and an ice cream. So we'll fast forward a bit. It would be a hell of a lot better for my back if I could re-learn LOL! And in keeping with that, I just like my toms flat and low. That is incredibly nice of you to take the time to leave such a kind comment. Man, the time that goes into each one varies a great deal. The more recent ones that come to mind are the Iron Maiden tune and there was a version of the Wizard - I sat and did so many takes on those. But others come a little more naturally. So that's a long way of saying more often than not, I sit in the drum room and play until the cameras run out of power LOL! Again, I can't thank you enough friend. Have a great weekend!

BILL!!! Well, this was one where the Ozzy copyright came into play (again) because my favorite version of this tune is off the Speak Of The Devil album. Tommy Aldridge tore it up. Having said that, Zombie did what they did and made it their own but once it hit the breakdown section, I just tried to incorporate elements or "versions" of Aldridge's take on it. Sorry man - I nerd out on this stuff LOL! And thank you so much for the kind words on the kit. I'd love to say some element of the wood or sizes attracted me to them but it was the finish HAHA! Just thought "That looks cool" and sold another kit to pay for it. Appreciate you my friend!

What up Rezo! Sorry for the delay man. And I've got to remember M8! Man, this was one of those tunes that was friendly with that ultra low tuning and dialing it in from there. Surprisingly, I've got a mic under my aux hats on the ride side of the kit. It's under the hats so it's pointed up. For fun, I tried to isolate the floor and did the old Van Halen trick where you carve out anything except direct hits. Even with the mic pointed up, it actually helped give them some additional attack! It was cool to try. But loads of compression and eq. Also a massive THANK YOU to the folks with EZ Mix. I use both EZ and Slate. I have to say, I really am digging the EZ Mix product line. Sorry for rambling man. Thank you Rezo!

Yo Alia! It was my preference totally but anything that is Ozzy runs a massive risk of being taken down. That is the only reason I went this route. You and I have played this damn song I don't know how many times LOL! When you get to the half time breakdown, I've got elements of the Speak of the Devil version all over that section. Dude, somehow I missed this album. For real. I've checked out multiple tracks off this but I never heard it back then. Or if I did, I have zero memory of it. Not having memory of things is anything but unique (HAHA!!!) but on full blown albums, I remember those generally speaking. I missed this one. I've got to come back around and get Sepultura's cover of Symptom of the Universe off this. I also have to get better so I can focus on finding an act with actual dates and a tour bus so I can get a real run under my belt now that we're coming out of this shit. I miss the road, a crew, a bus and a BIG FUCKING PA dude.

Had to look at the year it came out and if it was 94, I was the kid touring for the first time so I wasn't doing the album collecting I did as time went on. I'm honestly partial to the original and the Speak Of The Devil versions Rich but I ran into two familiar problems. 1 - I can't play like Bill Ward to save my ass (LOL!!!!) and 2 - I'm convinced the second YT hears Ozzy's voice, it blocks it. Bill Ward is one of the most unique players of his era and somehow gets lost in the shuffle in most discussions. I think that's misguided. Black Sabbath's sound is very much Bill Ward. Plus, he created those parts using 9-22 different drugs at the SAME TIME LOL!!!!
