- So in 1986, Aerosmith teamed up with Run DMC to cross rap and rock. In 1991, Anthrax and Public Enemy basically said "Hold my beer". This song hit me like nothing I'd ever heard. The respect I have for Anthrax as a band is as high as it can get. As far as Charlie Benante goes, I can't play like him but often times I wonder who can. Dude is so unique, so powerful, genuine and creative. And during quarantine, he's burning it up on his channel / thecharliebenante . And on the other side of the coin, this song introduced me to Public Enemy and the magic of both Chuck D and Flav. Just one of I don't know how many rap / hip hop artists that reshaped the way I heard and internalized drums. Public Enemy, Dre, Cube, Tupac, Biggie, Wu-Tang, etc. (This list can go on WAY too long)

I went to see PE and Anthrax concert, it was then strangest show. Everything was divided equally, the crowd, sitting standing
I'm now officially jealous....LOL! And I actually think I mean it! That is so f'n AWESOME! It's one tour I'd gladly take a time machine to see. Was Primus on the bill as well? I just imagine that being a big party by the end. It had to have enough energy through the show you felt it on the drive home. Thanks so much and appreciate the insight into what that show was like!

MARIE!!!!! I'm telling you, I was just happy to finally get to play this. I've never been in a set up that had attempted it live and, lyrically, I know every line of it. But the one part I had to work on was keeping up with how hard Charlie Benante is firing right out of the gate. People compare Walk This Way and Bring The Noise for different reasons. Walk This Way, I just think of that universal beat that is truly timeless but Bring The Noise........the drums open like a machine gun before settling into a pocket the size of the Grand Canyon...HAHA!!! One of many, many reason I just love this tune and the way the two acts put it together. Thank you so, so much! I appreciate seeing your comment so very much.

Cannot tell you how much I appreciate you being kind enough to watch my friend. I f'n loved covering this one. As far as the snare, I can't remember what tricks I used on this one. Plenty of compression I'm sure as well as some verb to make up it jump in a small room. But I dig that snare a lot. The depth is super cool and even for a deep snare, to me it's got a wide range of sounds. Anyways, sorry for rambling. Appreciate you & have a great weekend!

Well man also for me this song was a revelation almost 30 years ago!!! The mixture between trash and rap, the scratch and DJ sounds on top of massive guitar riffs...and Charlie's double bass parts!! Absolutely awesome performance Trey!
DUDE, that Don't Start Now cover is incredibly creative! Through the roof cool. We're in the same boat Andrea. The whole Aerosmith / DMC thing was certainly a hit and a crossover smash but I wasn't into drums or anything at that time. When this came out, all the things you said - the band, the turntables, the riffs, the drums, the samples - any lines I'd drawn in the sand musically were broken down on the spot. And I straight up love hip hop to this day. Keep the content coming my friend. You are one insanely talented cat Andrea!

Trey your double kick is faster than most peoples hands like man that`s crazy, fast but more importantly super accurate and consistent! This is such a cool tune, Anthrax kills, pardon the pun. I was fortunate to see them open for Judas Priest in the 2000`s, was like total metal mania, legends at work! Every part of this song is amazingly played, every video you put out is it`s own drum clinic for real and the video is the translator, it`s nice to see exactly what it is you(meaning me) can`t do! Yo Badge! I have zero hesitation is saying Hip hop has influenced me just as much as metal. When I got started playing, it was a bit late compared to today's drummers as I was about 16. But I did the whole Metallica / Slayer trip and then all the people older than me playing music were replicating either the late 80's stuff of the early 90's. But I was honestly listening to The Chronic top to bottom, Cube, Snoop, EZ, Tupac and then Wutang, Biggie, Nas, Jay Z........honestly, I would love to do just a hip hop month on here. Granted, the tracks would be metal-ish drums but I've got to start adding various hip hop artists into the mix man. Thank you so much buddy. Dude, Charlie still looks like he's 30 something. Drummers take a physical beating over time. I have no clue how that dude maintains his chops the way he does. He is one of the most unique drummers I've ever seen and MAN......he can take off with his hands or feet and dust just about anybody. LOVED the Shires track! I'm here to tell ya my friend, when we get in setting where we have to strip tracks down like that......you already know how challenging that is. Mad props on that. Spot on to the click and playing for the song.

Killing it gain Trey! Benante still has it for sure! And from the looks of it you do too. Those doubles in the beginning? Holy Crap dude! Flawless. You should be touring, not making drum covers seriously! I noticed you use Xtrax as well. I stumbled upon this software a few months ago and have been using it ever since. Not perfect, but if the music isn't overproduced it does a pretty good job of separating the drums from the music. It does lose the bass guitar though as the frequencies are so close to the kicks I believe...Keep crushing it
What up my friend! As far as XTrax, nope - it isn't perfect but Jeff Holden made a great observation I did a poor job explaining to folks. When you listen to what ultimately becomes "drumless", it's wobbly and you're so right - it loses the bass on some songs pretty bad. But, when the drums and all those frequencies come back into the mix, the wobbly track ultimately becomes a different deal. Most of the time, it can't compete with a truly "drumless" track that you can find for songs on here but dude, for that pre-click era stuff, it at least gives us a fighting chance. We can play to the original track and then use XT to drop those drums way, way down or - in some cases - damn near out. And I honestly had no clue of using it that way when I got it. I was just doing some remixes and wanted isolated vocals. It was a pleasant surprise dude. Thank you so, so much buddy! Gotta head over and see what you've been up to!

Yo Mike! Finally getting a bit caught up on here bud. So sorry. Man, Charlie very well may be using 32nd notes. I may be off on it. The way I clocked it was just uptempo 16th triplets. Similar to that Painkiller chorus vibe. Telling you dude, Charlie Benante is a FREAK with his hands and feet. He is an unbelievably unique drummer. Just massive respect for him. Thank ya Mike!

Martin's got the EYE!!!!!!!!!!! Yes - it is. Or it "was" I should say. I broke the fuck out of it and I'm SO pissed to this day because that son of a bitch gave the coolest sound. It was a cut down 18' A custom and I think it was a medium. I'm honestly digging around seeing if I can find it 🤣🤣🤣. Dude - Benante deserves so much more credit on SO many songs. I think he is a Mount Rushmore dude for a lot of us. His feet are pure weaponry. And his hands are just as lethal man
