    I just installed these lights with the "flood pattern" on the front of a jeep. They give off an impressive amount of light and the mounts are rock solid. I also ordered amber lenses from Quadratec fot their Radius pods which are the exact same light as these, that way they'll work as fog/snow lights. The hf wiring harness is quite decent too. This lighting setup has pleasantly surprised me. Good video, thanks for taking the time👍

      I really appreciate the tip on the amber lens! I'm in the middle of wiring these up on my Africa Twin motorcycle which I plan on doing more off-road night riding here in Arizona with a buddy or 2. I had to rework the harness to fit my bike but it was still better than having to make it from scratch. Thanks Rusty & Overland Engineer 👍👍👍

    Good enough for me. I had been doing over landing for years and this are more than enough plus most of the driving it’s better be done doing the days especially if your car breaks down . Now for some body who want to be a show overlander and care more about the brand, price and how they look it won’t a good choice it they came from HF. I had see I lots of people with all the goodies on their car and also no one scratch on their car and I can tell how much overlanding they had done. Great video 👍🏾👍🏾

  • @JarrettLemke

    I saw these the other day in-store. Looked fairly robust for the design. Though on video they seem to be as bright as your high beams. I have Rigid SAE driving light bars I just to suppliment my high beams and I can't even tell my headlights are even on they're so bright. May see if I can get some pricing on the Rigid sideshooters for my newly add hood light mounts. Thanks for the video!

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah understandable. The problem here is the beams overlap with the pods and high beams. Ideally the beam patterns project to different areas. My headlights also have really nice LEDs. They are very bright. So comparing these against my headlights means these pods are quite bright if they are comparable. I would take into consideration the lumen output of your lightbar because it’s probably much higher and therefore pretty expected that it would be brighter than high beams/pods. But I don’t know what high beams you are running. If yours are stock high beams, these pods would be easily brighter than my old stock high beams. My high beams alone have like 4000 lumen ideal output per side…(probably more like 2750). These pods are rated around 2250 output I believe. Hope that helps!

  • @khill1101
    @khill1101 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I just installed these on my Suburban for some additional down road lighting to avoid deer. After I installed them I wasn't really impressed. My high beams are so bright that these add very little, if anything to the light sent down the road. They do however change the overall color temperature of the light that is cast out. My highs and lows are a bright 6000k LED. Compared to the spot light my highs and lows look nearly blue. The slightly warmer color temperature of the Roadshock pod lights add to the clarity of the overall lighting output of my truck. The warmer color seems more natural and pleasing to the eyes. I honestly feel I could achieve the same color temperature and output results if I switched back to some high quality halogen bulbs in my highs and lows. I wish to compare these Roadshock pod lights to Diode Dynamics SSC2 Pro SAE Driving or SSC2 Pro Spots. I'm hoping to find brighter output without the larger 3" pods sitting on brackets just above my hood. I'm hoping a more slim line light will not take so much away from the esthetics of my vehicle. Utilized an Auxbeam switch pod for my controls. Ran my own wire rather than use the Roadshock wiring kit sold separately.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would agree. Its better to label driver and passenger. That is how I typically see directional light bulbs labeled. I think it refers to where the lights throw. So in the case of the vehicle probably when you are sitting behind them. In this case the lights are only on one side and you do not need them flooding toward the middle so its is straight forward at least in this case.

    It sounds like you are going to use these to illuminate the road, trees, and ditches ahead of you. I already HATE those front-facing LED light bars so many people use. They blind other drivers. Yeah, they may help YOU see, but I may not be able to for a few minutes. I try to look away, but in traffic, that's not always possible. These cube lights might be valuable to us truckers who occasionally have to back a trailer into a dark spot or dock. I could see mounting one (or using a magnetic mount) on the back of my trailer just for those occasions. If those LED light bars and these cube lights are DOT Approved, I guess there's nothing anyone can do about them. But if they are sold and labeled as "Off Road Use Only", there may come a day when you have to destroy your off road lights if you get caught using them on the public roads. Think that can't happen? What do you think the Virginia cops did when they caught someone using a radar detector in their state? You either ran over the detector or got a big ticket and still had your detector confiscated. Be smart. Don't blind others. Especially someone coming at you in an 80,000 pound vehicle.

      Ummm illegal as heck, get caught using light bars even pods on the road and I’m let’s just say you be lucky to have your rig and or your driving privileges or one big ticket 😅 off road use only! The roads are bad enough with the retards that’s can’t align there headlights properly and all the new led factory headlights that just glare a shit ton

    So disappointed in this video! I thought it supposed to be a video on the harbor freight lights rather than how you wired everything up? 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. 30 seconds actually showing the light that is produced…WTH?

      Hate to disappoint…I’d probably get that response from everyone who wants to see it wired.

      If you go off road you want to live up as much as you can because it can be very deceiving

    These are for off road use only. No one should be using them on the public roads… Seriously need an aptitude test for people to buy anything now…

    Lost me after 45 seconds into the intro.. Please shorten the intro and do your ads through out the video not all at once at the first. Just a suggestion but I'm out.
