2 conclusions I make while watching. 1 he should probably get rid of that vase. 2 I think it's a metaphor on how there will allways be problems that we obsess over. When one is gone another will take it's place. We can easily forget about our past problems, but we should allways expect more to rise in there place.
I LOVE THE INTERNET! I saw this short as a teenager on a TV program dedicated to animation, and I desperately looked for it. Finally TH-cam showed it to me. :)
Just imagine being in peace in home and suddenly, an extradimensional form of life, in a scary inexpressive shape of an alphabet letter, starts to bother you with unknown intentions... Creepy.
This was my first experimental short I watched at school early 70's. Fantastic! Love it! From that day on I was (still am) a experimental shorts collector. I have a lot in 16mm at home
English translation of short: "Grand Price of Animated Film - Oberhaunsen Festival " "I was a lone boy, in peace, nor happy, nor sad, before installed itself in the heart of my house a monster which sneak in, [unsure about this word], crushes... " [end] "... sadly... the monster 'B' waited at the door... and the letters of the alphabet are more than 26, more than 26... the alphabet is a cycle... the alphabet is unable to be tired"
Boy, was this hard to find. I remember watching this a while ago, and just remembered it. It's so difficult to try to find a film that's name is one of the most common words in the english language by searching.
Ah yes, "Screening Room" every Monday after the football game here in boston. Any chance for "Ubu Roi" or "Adam 2"? Adam 2 cleared the house at the Harvard Science Center save for me and two friends. Thanks in any case.

Spot on about both conclusions.

Start posting. :)
@@davidpetersen1 agreed.
I love short films. I’m so grateful for YT to have them available.

thanks
MORE than, 26🤔?? Are we missing something, here??
@@rogerrendzak8055 I believe it's saying that the a-z repeat over starting at "a" again so it is not just 26 but infinite
"accapare" means "monopolize"
This has a sort of Shel Silverstein vibe.
A is for Annoying
B is for Bothering...
I thought of Monty Python! But yes, Shel Silverstein. Or maybe dystopian Sesame Street! 😂
...and Edward Gorey
I don’t know why I was recommended this but I have no regrets watching it
Great! I thought the A symbolised anxiety, but the ending was a funny surprise. It blew my mind and trashed my theory.
Obviously intended to teach young French children l'alphabet, the animators got carried away.
🍷There you go Einstein! 😆
That was probably the weirdest thing I've ever seen... I love it! (Especially the ending)

The film's name is simply "A", that's a letter not a word.
Perhaps that's why you had difficulty finding the film!🤣
@@andiemorgan961 "a" is a word in english. you actually used it in your own sentence. twice
The Lost Media Archive brought this to my attention.
Got some Dadaist cosmic horror going on over here.
That letter sure gave him A hard time.

You can say he's being a real Eh hole you might say
Un piccolo gioiello di animazione
Simply fantastic
Is this a film about having writer's block?
I like this theory
That makes so much sense now- going back and forth, trying to get the letters out but in the way getting defeated
We cannot escape our own delusions by trying to banish them.
Definitely worth sharing.
To A or not to A? That is the question; whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or....
This is fantastic!
Haunting.

Thank you so much :-)
That episode of Electric Company that they don't talk about.

Dark Sesame Street LOL
Early Twilight Zone.
How did someone find this?
I found this thru a recommendation.. in the comments of another short film. Love !!!
Those sounds... Creepy. o.o
Wow!! How about that A 'beating', he took😏??
So if Screening Room still exists then... why would this be considered rare or lost? Also I like your Psygnosis avatar.
A is for Alice (or maybe Anna),
B is for Beth (or maybe Brenda),
C is for Celine...
