Thank you for a simple explanation. When I called Honeywell last year, their people at night were unable to help me. I wished they knew about your awesome video!
This isn’t that simple, as it’s based on the assumption that I have a schedule programmed into the thermostat. If no schedule programmed, what does the permanent and temp hold do? Mine gets to the temperature but doesn’t shut off.
@@geomanko4142did you figure this out? I’m in the same boat. I don’t have any programmed schedules and mine is on permanent hold. Should I remove the hold or keep it? I don’t get it
These things are poorly designed and harder to use than algebra.. the guys just serviced my unit and it took me an hour to figure out why the holds were not available from before. I have always worked best when setting something once than leaving it that way. My mistake for not watching over their shoulder. Thanks.
@@ThePrinceHerb my way of bringing the _hold_ option back up was to go into _prog_ and switch it from _off_ to _on._ But the temperature still won’t go any lower than _92_ and I haven’t figured out how to change that.
Ok. If your "hold options" ever disappear you have to reset the thermostat by pressing and holding the menu and plus buttons. Navigate the options using the plus button until you get to reset to default. Once the thermostat comes back on it will have the hold option restored. Hit the minus button to show the hold options and when hold appears press it to change it to permanent hold.
What an absolute nightmare of a thermostat. Randomly goes to a scheduled setting. Never see up a schedule. Nothing I do from any of these videos changes this.
Yes!! Same here!! This is my go to video every time I need to figure out how to use it. I got a new unit in and they put a new thermostat in as well. This thing is so freaking hard!! I walk in my house and it’s 88 degrees!! It should be set of what I put it to. Like it literally shouldn’t be this hard lol

If I don’t have any programmed schedules and I just want the thermostat to hit the set temperature, shut off, and kick back on when it goes above that temperature. Should I keep it on permanent hold? Is there a disadvantage to putting it on permanent hold no schedule is programmed?

@@jimbarrofficial Yes, that's right, thanks! If you want a permanent hold to show on the display screen, so you know it's actually on permanent, first program something, then go back to the main screen, toggle the temp up or down and THEN it blinks and the options show hold-menu-cancel, like the video above. Then you can simply hit the hold button until "permanent" shows up on the display. After that, just manually adjust temps with the + and --

The issue I have with my T6 is once the air temps reaches my set temp for example 75* it will not turn the heat off for hours which is wasting energy.....is there a way to program the t-stat so when the air temps reaches the set temps it turns off and once it's off and the air temp drops 3* the hvac turns on again to reach my set temp?
In order to always manually set the thermostat (tell it what temperature you want it to arrive at) without any interference from a schedule already programmed into the system, use Permanent Hold.
My understanding is that the thermostat comes pre-programmed with the schedule. Of course you can reprogram it with your own schedule but it seems that it will always have some schedule. So in order to override the schedule, I always have it on permanent hold. @@Surf4lyfe
