And why this particular victim when the killer and the victim had a friendly relationship? -- Because (s)he was affected by Despair Disease, which manifested (in the victim's case) as total gullibility. The victim literally believed anything (s)he was told, not even resisting when (s)he was being strangled. It was simply a target so easy it couldn't be ignored. - Why would the blackened commit murder? It didn't seem like him/her to kill people. -- The murderer, too, turned out to be infected with Despair Disease, in his/her case making her remember everything about the group's past lives. And with that, his/her complete adulation for a certain mastermind of days past. - How is the murderer identified? -- Firstly, suspicion is raised by the murderer incorrectly identifying the first victim's injuries as being a result of hanging, when it's clear the victim was strangled. The murderer is someone who absolutely should have correctly identified the injuries. Secondly, the murderer misspeaks when (s)he tries to disprove his/her presence in the hanging video, claiming the angle was bad when (s)he couldn't have known the angle at all, not having seen the video. - Why is the murderer shot into space? Seems odd? -- The blackened is not shot into space, the punishment is an allegory. The oversize syringe and the orgasmic expression (look up 'the little death' if you don't get it) when the substance hits makes it clear the victim is actually executed by lethal injection.

Mikan presumably got down from the ladder and turned the camera off manually, trusting in the fact that Hajime would run to the music venue and thus wouldn't see her do it. 2. I believe they were together at the time, along with Fuyuhiko, but I can't be sure. Sonia definitely does get suspected at one point because she was the last one (apart from Mikan of course) to have seen Hiyoko alive. 3. So it would be impossible to determine which camera sent its feed to which display since that would make everyone realize the recording wasn't made in the music venue. 4. It's been too long, sorry. 5. No, because only Hajime had actually seen the recording. He'd told the others about the hospital gown, the bad lighting and the poor quality, but he had never mentioned which angle it had been filmed in. And yet, Mikan's denial that it was her in the video makes it clear that she knew what angle it was filmed in (she literally said "from THAT angle?"). The only one who could know this were the person who'd seen the video, and the person who'd made the video.
If anyone ever noticed that Hiyoko’s bow was in the front instead of where it normally was, It’s because Mikan was intentionally trying to insult hiyoko. In Japanese culture an obi’s bow tied in the front means the woman is a whore. Just a little tidbit

It kinda makes sense if you look past the obvious - the arm, the needle, Mikan's face when it's injected, the rocket lauching up to heaven, they're all clear indicators that in reality, the execution is death by lethal injection.
It amazes me how well calculated this was. Her whole plan basically hung on by a thread the entire time. Hajime's reaction to the video sending him to the music venue, running to get everyone after discovering Ibuki giving her time to expose Hiyoko's body, destroy evidence, create a locked room murder with the glue and put the drumstick there seemed both very well planned out and at the same time left up to chance. Had Hajime done anything even slightly different, the whole thing could have failed and she could have been exposed quickly. That's just my opinion though. I could be way off on that.

If Hajime had stayed watching the video a little bit longer he wouldve realized that it was fake and it was Mikan, not Ibuki, he then wouldve seen Mikan. Once both bodies were discovered Hajime wouldve known it was Mikan because she was wearing the exact same thing Ibuki was wearing during her death scene

I really wish Mikan's execution was something else (don't get me wrong I don't mind her execution it's better than Mondo's one imo.) I wish her execution was something based on her free time events! Example: Mikan explains that she got bullied in school and by her mom's boyfriends, she explains that they would draw on her, make her imitate animals, throw cigarettes at her and use her as a target when playing darts! She should have been tied to a dart board and have syringes (or whatever Monokuma used in her execution to inject her) thrown at her and have the dart board spun around until she dies by being injected by poison or another lethal drug. (Also know Mikan dislikes large things all the things in her execution are large (Bed,Syringe,Hand Rocket and Space)
Well technically she doesn't get launched into space. As mentioned before if you look up the little death it explains that ppl who get leathly injected feel a orgasmic feeling before they die. The large arm, her being in bed, the name of her execution, and the rocket launching her to the heavens, is symbolic of her execution in reality being a leathel injection.
It's not just a theory. It's clearly alluded to by the execution itself. Not only is the large injection needle a clear indicator, but Mikan's orgasm-like expression when the dose hits is a reference to the fact that an orgasm is often called the "little death".
What if her execution is this: Title: ^still the same^ (bye bye ouchies) Details: Mikan is trapped in an asylum where she goes crazy. The asylum then expands into a hallway where she can escape (because the door contained: to see your dead beloved) So, she wiggled across the room because she cannot run by the outfit she was in. However, large needles where poking her in the way, each poke made her smile in despair, until to the point where she reached the door. Then a giant needle finishes her, and her face ended up happy in a despairful way.
I liked the other idea for Mikan's execution (getting strapped to a surgical table and having surgery done on her without being sedated first) like, imagine if her execution was her being strapped to the table, then a curtain comes by and all you can see is her body silhouette. Then you see a thing come from the ceiling that's like the cartoonish robotic thing with a bunch of saws and drills and shit. Then you see the silhouette of the thing sawing and drilling Mikan with her flailing around and with blood splatter. Maybe it could even show Monokuma holding sedatives beforehand, shrugging his shoulders and throwing it away. Pretty much anything would have been better than this, I think
It's weird, something about her being the murderer just seemed so out of place for me, but I suppose it wasn't really her that's the killer, but actually the "Despair" version. Still I find it odd that her memory stayed even though the disease was supposed too be gone which I feel is a weird plot hole

For me personally, I wish they made the motive for Mikan killing Hiyoko was because she snapped and was done with Hiyoko's verbal abuse. I don't really know how she would commit a double murder unless someone walked in on her killing Hiyoko

I feel this chapter was kind of poorly made because in the closing argument it doesn’t even show Hiyoko or Ibuki getting killed or what killed Hiyoko. I think this is mainly due to the fact that Fuyuhiko was intended to die instead of Hiyoko and Hiyoko was meant to survive but they were swapped out because the creators felt it made Peko’s sacrifice meaningless so Hiyoko was just thrown in. I think it would have been better if Fuyuhiko was killed in place of Hiyoko. Not because I just like Hiyoko but because it would have made the chapter feel less poorly made because of the change not needing to be considered and because Mikan would look much more evil for killing someone who was just sacrificed for.
I feel like Sonia should’ve died instead. If Hiyoko survived and saw the mess she bullied Mikan into, she could have a whole redemption arc where she tries to be nicer to people.
Im answering this 3 years late but I just finished the chapter and I agree. I was looking forward to Hiyoko’s character development, so seeing her getting killed so suddenly and ending with very little explanation of what happened is disappointing. Some elements (exact times and orders of Ibuki/Hiyoko’s deaths, weapon used to kill Hiyoko…) were overlooked.
@@ferranimimel338 I guess it’s the most plausible option, but I also thought it could have been something from the Music Venue (I was thinking of scissors cause didn’t Mikan used some to cut the wallpaper she used to hid Hiyoko’s body afterward ? Or maybe she took them from the Hospital too) because Mikan was planning to strangle Ibuki all along… so why would she been having a knife with her when she encountered Hiyoko ? This case is just so confusing anyway.
She was probably counting on Hajime immediately running for the music venue when he saw where the video was going so she could turn it off after he left. But yes, good point, it would have been awkward if Hajime had stayed and he'd watched her climb back down the step latter and grab the camera.

This chapter had SO MANY plot holes which is why I dislike it so much. (also bc my queen died 😔) First of all Hajime said that when he was getting people to see The crime scene it only took him about 5 minutes or so. In this time span Mikan would have to run to the music venue (and have to know that Hajime was gone already) un wrap the paper, get the drum stick, Glue the doors shut AND have to run back to the hospital or wherever without ANYBODY noticing her. Not to mention she would have to guess when Hajime has left the hospital, music venue, and then come back. That’s hard for even Akane to pull off, the ultimate gymnast. Second, Her whole plan is on string about how the classmates would have acted, specially Hajime. If Hajime would have watched the full video or just watched a second more her whole plan would have been ruined. Same if Hajime had stayed a little bit longer at the music venue. And what if he it didn’t take him 5 minutes but maybe about 2 or 3? She would have been caught red handed. Third of all, she has to get Ibuki to come with her without disturbing the others. She would then have to get her to come to the music venue and choke her without anybody disturbing her. Of course that didn’t happen when Hiyoko came. If Hiyoko would have ran and scream for help Mikan would also be caught. But everyone knows that Hiyoko’s first instinct would probably be to ask a question or try to “fight” her. She’s lucky that was Hiyoko, cause anyone else (besides Baby gangster and Maybe Nagito) would have ran or called for help. Probably both. Fourth, the way she acted in the trial. She was basically acting like Celeste in her trail. Expect that she was saying that she could never do that. While Celeste asked random questions. Either way they both acted very sus in the trails. But they basically both met their demise in the same way. They both dug themselves deeper into the whole until they broke. Plus Mikan’s lie that “she didn’t know the difference between and hanging mark between a choking mark” is complete BS. And the last thing is her execution! The WORST execution out there! I get that the executions in Danganronpa 2 were supposed to be what the blackened hated the most, besides Nanami’s. (Teruteru was fried food, Peko was hurting her master, Mikan’s was big things, and Tanaka’s was going to heaven) but they could have done so much better. Like Mikan is strapped to a surgery board and Monokuma dose surgery on her while everything is way to big. That’s wayyyy better then Mikan being on an oversized arm while Monokuma is injecting a liquid in it and Mikan is getting wet by this. To be fate going into outer space that’s way to big. Could somebody explain to me why the closing argument didn’t include how the victims died? I understand that the important part is always how the killer tried to cover up their crime and that it was said during the trial itself but still, why?

So anyways, I can speculate but Hiyoko's was likely unseen due to her not being intended to die here and her death being put here last minute, with Fuyohiko originally dying here. Ibuki, I just genuinely think they didn't put it in because the writers forgot to put that in. They do it for the other chapters I believe, so it just makes sense they just did an oopsy.

Read my pinned post. Mikan first makes herself look suspicious by misdiagnosing Ibuki's injuries, something she, as the ultimate nurse, would never do unless it was on purpose to mislead the others.
Komaeda was the first to discover it because he noticed that Monokuma was hiding the time of death. That meant that the time was the most important evidence and if they discovered it, they would also find the murderer because Mikan is the only one who has the necessary medical knowledge to know how to alter the time of a deceased body (since she used heat to alter the time of the crime).
Hiyoko was my number one favourite in this game....but I forgive Mikan...since I can understand her and her motives...And also she is my third and last favourite character in Danganronpa 2 Goodbye Despair.
I'm also bothered by that. They appeared as already murdered. But,that was probably made to Hajime's Point of View,who didn't witness neither Hiyoko nor Ibuki's deaths.
I actually am always just so mad whenever I get reminded that Hiyoko dies, I absolutely hate it, she was character development waiting to happen. As someone who LOVES Sonia, I would even replace Hiyoko with her, Akane or Kazuichi (Preferably Kaz). I know many people who wanted Hiyoko to live, even the ones who dislike her.

Well, all the games have one thing in common, chapter 1 executions always start with dragging the blackened by a chain, chapter 4 always kills the friendly giants (Sakura, Nekomaru, and Gonta), chapter 3 always has 2 people dead. There’s always a pattern
She possibly was executed in a humane way to happens something similar to Junko. Junko's execution was organized in a way that the stone falling later than she expected made she die in another feeling that wasn't despair, which is the same that happens with Mikan. Mikan was infected by despair disease, which in her case made she remember from the times she was a Despair Soldier and consequently, if she died in despair, it would be exactly what she wanted, so the syringe being humane and quick makes sense, because it's denying her of despair
In my honest opinion it is well thought out for Mikan. But it's strange that Mikan did it, I get and understand why. I just thought it was always strange. Also this murder is similar to Danganronpa 1's third murder case. Both had two murders and both had female killers. I'm indifferent to Mikan so seeing as the killer wasn't as heartbreaking for me, instead I could care less about her being killer. Through the execution was hard to understand but if you ask me it's perfect for Mikan after she shows her true colors and talking about her beloved before being given her execution.
I never asked why did she did it, but I said it was strange that of people that Mikan did it. Who thorughout the prologue and up to chapter 3 she was always very shy, timid, and constantly apologetic. For her to be the murderer was shocking. That was my point I was making.

What I dont like about this chapter is was how small explanation on how she killed them in the closing argument, every chapter three closing arguments gets every explanation how the victim dies, but not this one, this one only explained how she fabricate the whole situation and found the bodies, which is pretty dissapointing plus the execution makes this chapter a nono to me

Well to put it shortly, chapter 3's motive was despair disease, ibuki had the gullible disease I forgot akanes but it was something about vulnerability, and nagito had the liars disease, mikan ended up catching said disease and she had remembering disease Junko (her beloved) was the reason she killed ibuki and hiyoko, she did it for her beloved however she was manipulated and brainwashed by Junko so, I'm not sure if the whole story is entirely correct as I'm going off of memory so
I'm very disappointed, this has to be one of the worst trials in danganronpa, there were so many holes and flukes, it only shows the plan, not even how the victims were murdered (specifically hiyoko, I'm just assuming it had been a scalpel.) mikans breakdown was disappointing too, infact you could almost predict it, the execution was sexualized and while of course mikan felt despair (from what I've heard apparently she has a fear of gigantic objects?) The execution was short sexualized and bad, definitely my least favorite case ever.

It's kinda stupid because in every case 3 in the Danganronpa games (not another episode), 2 are murdered by 1 person. SPOILERS AHEAD, the people who did that was Celeste Ludenberg (Taeko Yasuhiro) from Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc, Mikan Tsumuki from Super Danganronpa 2, Good-bye DESPAIR, and Korekiyo Shinguji from Danganronpa V3, Killing Harmony.
And the Ironic thing is for V3 the roles are switched As you see in DR1, The two murders were males, and the Blackened was a Female In V3 the two murders were Female and the blackened was a male But in SDR2’s case A female murdered two other females
Technically you are wrong about DR1. Hifumi murdered Taka, and then Celeste (Taeko) murdered Hifumi. She was the mastermind behind it, but she only killed Hifumi technically. Meanwhile the case 3 murders of the other games were done by only one person, and no accomplice.

I really wish Mikan's execution was something else (don't get me wrong I don't mind her execution it's better than Mondo's one imo.) I wish her execution was something based on her free time events! Example: Mikan explains that she got bullied in school and by her mom's boyfriends, she explains that they would draw on her, make her imitate animals, throw cigarettes at her and use her as a target when playing darts! She should have been tied to a dart board and have syringes (or whatever Monokuma used in her execution to inject her) thrown at her and have the dart board spun around until she dies by being injected by poison or another lethal drug. (Also know Mikan dislikes large things all the things in her execution are large (Bed,Syringe,Hand Rocket and Space)
Well technically she doesn't get launched into space. As mentioned before if you look up the little death it explains that ppl who get leathly injected feel a orgasmic feeling before they die. The large arm, her being in bed, the name of her execution, and the rocket launching her to the heavens, is symbolic of her execution in reality being a leathel injection.
In reality Mikan actually had the most humane execution out of all of them and the least painful.

It's not just a theory. It's clearly alluded to by the execution itself. Not only is the large injection needle a clear indicator, but Mikan's orgasm-like expression when the dose hits is a reference to the fact that an orgasm is often called the "little death".

Then a giant needle finishes her, and her face ended up happy in a despairful way.

I liked the other idea for Mikan's execution (getting strapped to a surgical table and having surgery done on her without being sedated first) like, imagine if her execution was her being strapped to the table, then a curtain comes by and all you can see is her body silhouette. Then you see a thing come from the ceiling that's like the cartoonish robotic thing with a bunch of saws and drills and shit. Then you see the silhouette of the thing sawing and drilling Mikan with her flailing around and with blood splatter. Maybe it could even show Monokuma holding sedatives beforehand, shrugging his shoulders and throwing it away. Pretty much anything would have been better than this, I think

Still I find it odd that her memory stayed even though the disease was supposed too be gone which I feel is a weird plot hole

I feel this chapter was kind of poorly made because in the closing argument it doesn’t even show Hiyoko or Ibuki getting killed or what killed Hiyoko. I think this is mainly due to the fact that Fuyuhiko was intended to die instead of Hiyoko and Hiyoko was meant to survive but they were swapped out because the creators felt it made Peko’s sacrifice meaningless so Hiyoko was just thrown in. I think it would have been better if Fuyuhiko was killed in place of Hiyoko. Not because I just like Hiyoko but because it would have made the chapter feel less poorly made because of the change not needing to be considered and because Mikan would look much more evil for killing someone who was just sacrificed for.
I feel like Sonia should’ve died instead. If Hiyoko survived and saw the mess she bullied Mikan into, she could have a whole redemption arc where she tries to be nicer to people.
Im answering this 3 years late but I just finished the chapter and I agree. I was looking forward to Hiyoko’s character development, so seeing her getting killed so suddenly and ending with very little explanation of what happened is disappointing. Some elements (exact times and orders of Ibuki/Hiyoko’s deaths, weapon used to kill Hiyoko…) were overlooked.

She was probably counting on Hajime immediately running for the music venue when he saw where the video was going so she could turn it off after he left. But yes, good point, it would have been awkward if Hajime had stayed and he'd watched her climb back down the step latter and grab the camera.

This chapter had SO MANY plot holes which is why I dislike it so much. (also bc my queen died 😔) First of all Hajime said that when he was getting people to see The crime scene it only took him about 5 minutes or so. In this time span Mikan would have to run to the music venue (and have to know that Hajime was gone already) un wrap the paper, get the drum stick, Glue the doors shut AND have to run back to the hospital or wherever without ANYBODY noticing her. Not to mention she would have to guess when Hajime has left the hospital, music venue, and then come back. That’s hard for even Akane to pull off, the ultimate gymnast.
Second, Her whole plan is on string about how the classmates would have acted, specially Hajime. If Hajime would have watched the full video or just watched a second more her whole plan would have been ruined. Same if Hajime had stayed a little bit longer at the music venue. And what if he it didn’t take him 5 minutes but maybe about 2 or 3? She would have been caught red handed.
Third of all, she has to get Ibuki to come with her without disturbing the others. She would then have to get her to come to the music venue and choke her without anybody disturbing her. Of course that didn’t happen when Hiyoko came. If Hiyoko would have ran and scream for help Mikan would also be caught. But everyone knows that Hiyoko’s first instinct would probably be to ask a question or try to “fight” her. She’s lucky that was Hiyoko, cause anyone else (besides Baby gangster and Maybe Nagito) would have ran or called for help. Probably both.
Fourth, the way she acted in the trial. She was basically acting like Celeste in her trail. Expect that she was saying that she could never do that. While Celeste asked random questions. Either way they both acted very sus in the trails. But they basically both met their demise in the same way. They both dug themselves deeper into the whole until they broke. Plus Mikan’s lie that “she didn’t know the difference between and hanging mark between a choking mark” is complete BS.
And the last thing is her execution! The WORST execution out there! I get that the executions in Danganronpa 2 were supposed to be what the blackened hated the most, besides Nanami’s. (Teruteru was fried food, Peko was hurting her master, Mikan’s was big things, and Tanaka’s was going to heaven) but they could have done so much better. Like Mikan is strapped to a surgery board and Monokuma dose surgery on her while everything is way to big. That’s wayyyy better then Mikan being on an oversized arm while Monokuma is injecting a liquid in it and Mikan is getting wet by this. To be fate going into outer space that’s way to big. Like what kinda of execution is that?

So I thought you were talking about the entire game lol. So anyways, I can speculate but Hiyoko's was likely unseen due to her not being intended to die here and her death being put here last minute, with Fuyohiko originally dying here. Ibuki, I just genuinely think they didn't put it in because the writers forgot to put that in. They do it for the other chapters I believe, so it just makes sense they just did an oopsy.

Komaeda was the first to discover it because he noticed that Monokuma was hiding the time of death. That meant that the time was the most important evidence and if they discovered it, they would also find the murderer because Mikan is the only one who has the necessary medical knowledge to know how to alter the time of a deceased body (since she used heat to alter the time of the crime).

I actually am always just so mad whenever I get reminded that Hiyoko dies, I absolutely hate it, she was character development waiting to happen. As someone who LOVES Sonia, I would even replace Hiyoko with her, Akane or Kazuichi (Preferably Kaz). I know many people who wanted Hiyoko to live, even the ones who dislike her.

She possibly was executed in a humane way to happens something similar to Junko. Junko's execution was organized in a way that the stone falling later than she expected made she die in another feeling that wasn't despair, which is the same that happens with Mikan. Mikan was infected by despair disease, which in her case made she remember from the times she was a Despair Soldier and consequently, if she died in despair, it would be exactly what she wanted, so the syringe being humane and quick makes sense, because it's denying her of despair
In my honest opinion it is well thought out for Mikan. But it's strange that Mikan did it, I get and understand why. I just thought it was always strange. Also this murder is similar to Danganronpa 1's third murder case. Both had two murders and both had female killers. I'm indifferent to Mikan so seeing as the killer wasn't as heartbreaking for me, instead I could care less about her being killer. Through the execution was hard to understand but if you ask me it's perfect for Mikan after she shows her true colors and talking about her beloved before being given her execution.
I never asked why did she did it, but I said it was strange that of people that Mikan did it. Who thorughout the prologue and up to chapter 3 she was always very shy, timid, and constantly apologetic. For her to be the murderer was shocking. That was my point I was making.

Well to put it shortly, chapter 3's motive was despair disease, ibuki had the gullible disease I forgot akanes but it was something about vulnerability, and nagito had the liars disease, mikan ended up catching said disease and she had remembering disease Junko (her beloved) was the reason she killed ibuki and hiyoko, she did it for her beloved however she was manipulated and brainwashed by Junko so, I'm not sure if the whole story is entirely correct as I'm going off of memory so

I'm very disappointed, this has to be one of the worst trials in danganronpa, there were so many holes and flukes, it only shows the plan, not even how the victims were murdered (specifically hiyoko, I'm just assuming it had been a scalpel.) mikans breakdown was disappointing too, infact you could almost predict it, the execution was sexualized and while of course mikan felt despair (from what I've heard apparently she has a fear of gigantic objects?) The execution was short sexualized and bad, definitely my least favorite case ever.

The Creators Were Drunk When They Were Making Mikan's Execution

That's because the method of the killings are revealed during the game itself. Ibuki was one of the four suffering from Despair Disease, in her case it manifested as total gullibility. This allowed Mikan to strangle her without any resistance. Hiyoko walked in on the murder and Mikan slashed her throat. The fact that Ibuki was strangled and not hanged, incidentally, is what reveals Mikan as the murderer: she claimed Ibuki had died by hanging, but a trained nurse would have easily seen the difference between hanging and strangulation marks.
Um how did mikan kill ibuki? Isn't hiyoko supposed to be alive?

It's kinda stupid because in every case 3 in the Danganronpa games (not another episode), 2 are murdered by 1 person. SPOILERS AHEAD, the people who did that was Celeste Ludenberg (Taeko Yasuhiro) from Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc, Mikan Tsumuki from Super Danganronpa 2, Good-bye DESPAIR, and Korekiyo Shinguji from Danganronpa V3, Killing Harmony.
And the Ironic thing is for V3 the roles are switched

But in SDR2’s case A female murdered two other females
