If only I could describe the back around story to what happen when this game was being played and me watching it. Then people would understand this is why I love the NFL. I know alot of y'all can relate
This was the first NFL game I ever watched, as an Australian, I never even knew much about Gridiron but after seeing this game I loved the Cardinals and I loved the GOAT, Larry Fitzgerald
Three things I remember from this game. 1) Warner was just brilliant. 2) Fitzgerald was just magnificent 3) the all Australian punter showdown between Graham and Rocca. Graham and Rocca had so many brilliant contests in their Australian Football League (AFL) days when Graham played for Geelong and Rocca played for Collingwood and then North Melbourne. Graham was desperately unlucky (along with Fitzgerald and the rest of the Arizona Cardinals team) not to win the Super Bowl.
Sadly, it appears that “Larry Legend” is done with the Cards. He embodies the Cardinals and sad to see it end but I guess all good things come to an end. Thank you Larry for all the memories; both on and off the field. A true gentleman.
It was amazing to watch the career renaissance of Kurt Warner this season and the one afterwards. After his short stint with the Giants, I thought he was done, designated to be a serviceable backup for the years he had left. Shows how much I know about football, because he proved me and many others wrong. He was a man on a mission this year. I don’t care that the Cardinals were 9-7, Warner should’ve been the MVP that season. He led them to a division title, 4,500 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, a career high in completions, and quarterbacked the ARIZONA CARDINALS to the Super Bowl. Without Warner, Arizona maybe wins four or five games.
Hell warner was a backup to leinart at the beginning of this super bowl season and absolutely balled and snatched leinart out of the league, god I love Kurt Warner he was so nasty accurate for the rams and cards such a fun guy to watch he made games fun to watch that’s for sure.
Coming from an Eagles fan Fitz deserved to get that ring that year. I was cheering so hard for the Cards that game. But man that pass from Ben to Holmes is the greatest pass I've ever seen. One of the best catches I've seen too
Don't shoot me, but until Fitzgerald caught fire and upped his game in the 2008 playoffs and beyond, Boldin was easily the better receiver. Big, deceptively quick/fast, great hands, tough as nails. Broke his jaw against the Jets in 2008 and was back in a few weeks later. I remember sitting at Sun Devil Stadium during his rookie year in 2003 and watching him make play after play on a horrible team. Until Haley showed up, Fitzgerald was quite content to catch the ball and go down. Haley lit a fire under Fitzgerald's ass and the rest is history as the saying goes.

Fitz had a great postseason but the team wasn't scrubs lol. Anquan Boldin was a beast and in his prime. Pretty sure both Fitz and Anquan were 1000 yard receivers. Kurt Warner was balling out. Edgerin James was good that year. The defense also had some dogs on the D Line including the underrated Darnell Dockett. Karlos Dansby is a top 20 linebacker all time. Dominique Rodgers Cromartie had a solid season and the safety duo of Adrian Wilson and Antrel Rolle was great too. The roster wasn't great all the way through but they had play makers on both sides of the ball that were game changers.
This had to have been the most unlikely NFC Championship matchup. The 4 seeded 9-7 Cardinals who were only there because their division wasn’t good. And the 6 seeded eagles who had to get past the top seeded Giants. Then thy faced off and we witnessed this masterpiece
I remember on the last play of the game I jumped up and started screaming "GET DOWN, GET DOWN YOU ****ING IDIOT!" I still wish ARI won the Super Bowl that year. SHOCK THE WORLD!
Amen. Rodney Harrison got a bad rap for being "Dirty" but Dawkins definitely targeted players to purposely injure them, all though his career. Rodney Harrison still hasn't gotten into the HOF.
This was McNabb and Andy’s last chance at a SB. No doubt they would’ve beaten the Steelers. Really thought Super 5 was going to have us HOF moment at the end of this game; but it wasn’t to be, story of his career, not enough weapons, inaccurate, and unable to perform in clutch. Andy Reid has now built 2 separate dynasty’s in 2 different city’s and is 2-2 in drafting franchise QBs. I would argue his career is more impressive then Belichicks
Big Daddy ™ Cardinals team was stacked. Good O-Line, Fitz, Boldin, and Breaston all had 1000 yard seasons. James & Hightower, HoF Warner playing like an MVP. Wilson, Rolle, DRC all future pro bowlers, Dansby, Dockett, Campbell all pro bowlers as well. A bad Warner INT away from winning the SB. Underrated team. Dr. Legend Fly Eagles Fly for life!
and the cardinals
Haha well that comment is no longer valid. Screw the eagles. Skol!
Dr. Legend now they have one!
Game still hurts 8 years later
Still waiting for the cards to win one
Super underrated NFC Championship game too. Very fun game. Tale of two halves but the better team won
TheSquidReport eagles were better that year they would have won the super bowl
Better team did not win. Larry Fitzgerald carried Arizona, an inferior team, through the playoffs and to the Super Bowl.
I remember on the last play of the game I jumped up and started screaming "GET DOWN, GET DOWN YOU ****ING IDIOT!"
I still wish ARI won the Super Bowl that year. SHOCK THE WORLD!
The most exciting NFC Championship game
1992 Dallas at SF. For SF fans, it was the same matchup in the same location, in 1981
Damn you football gods, if only Fitzgerald would've gotten just one championship everything would be perfect.
Moss too
Who says he can’t
I really forgot how good Fitzgerald was. Dude is a top 10 receiver of all time.
Top 3
lol top 2 now
fun fact: the top 3 defenses were in the Conference Championship games that season (Steelers, Ravens, Eagles)
Wentz will bring a Super Bowl to the nest #FlyEaglesFly
As a Philly fan, this was my 2nd favorite Eagles team of all time
Thank you for this... really thank you
this is how ill remember the "GOAT" brian dawkins. always torched when it matters most. if hes a HOFer then you my as well put the cheerleaders in
Amen. Rodney Harrison got a bad rap for being "Dirty" but Dawkins definitely targeted players to purposely injure them, all though his career.
Rodney Harrison still hasn't gotten into the HOF.
Cards had a awesome crowd that day u can feel the energy
sad they got robbed of the super bowl Fitzgerald deserves a ring
Mark Labett nope they just lost
Mark Labett robbed, what you think holmes didn't make the catch?
only one foot was down smh
no. he tip toed that and i hated those steelers.
Right the other never touched the ground because it was on top of the other
And for the second straight year, Asante Samuel’s season ends in heartbreak in Glendale, Arizona. Both games were broadcasted on FOX.
2008 nfl playoffs we’re really in a good way
1:54:11 BLATANT PI, one of the worst missed calls I've ever seen. Ref was too scared to flag the home team.
Battle of the Birds
as an eagles fan, this hurt more than SB39
I was hype af when we came back....
...or almost did. :/
i like how he almost didnt get in because of his own player on the first TD
Wow, hard to believe there are some players in this game that are still in the league. Larry Fitzgerald and Calais Campbell.
This was Campbell's rookie year, and Fitzgerald's fifth.
just when you thought it could have been an all-pennsylvania super bowl, the eagles choke again, what choke-shocker
Eagles were mediocre and lucky the Giants choked in the playoffs that year.
Stop making up lies that eagles team was not mediocre they didn’t get lucky against the Giants either they just flat out beat them this eagles team was very good and showed that in the playoffs they won 2 road games and came close to winning a third but Larry had other plans
Fitzgerald was unstoppable man... lots of respect for that guy.
the last time i cried for a football game
Such an underrated game
No one in their dreams even thought the cards would go that far in the playoffs. Absolute shocker of a team.
I thought that the 2008 nfl playoffs was the most underrated postseason ever, the best teams were Steelers, colts, chargers, titans, giants, Panthers, and eagles
Yeah even though the cards beat the eagles
Green wall Tree which made it even crazier
@@greenwalltree and blew out the Panthers.
EAGLES BROKE MY HEART LIVE THAT DAY
Sad that it was jim Johnsons last game as defensive coordinator
This was my dads birthday and I was just getting in to football ,pretty lucky for a 1st year as a football fan, anyways now we have season tickets
PHX Master nice but........I'm the master of Phoenix, tolleson
Eagles ruled the NFC for like 5 years.
Damn McNab is inaccurate in the clutch sometimes bruh
So inaccurate he made himself puke
*I hated the way they lost games in 2008 yet I continue to return to this game*
McNabb was a tank man damn...I think he got too big which effected that accuracy .
