After this game the Bears completely had a downfall. I remember when I was a kid watching this and to this day I’ll never like the Packers. We really could’ve went to the Super Bowl that year.
They were good until 2013. By 2014, the team was not able to compete with their divisional rivals due to trades and acquisitions made for those players who left the team
A Conference Title game. Between two of the biggest and most hated rivals in the NFL. The Chicago Bears 🐻 vs. the Green Bay Packers. Now that's a Championship you couldn't plan any better! The Bears dominated the Packers throughout the 80's. Walter Payton used to run circles around us! Once we got Brett Favre and after Aaron Rodgers, the Packers got their run of dominance, but it'll come back around. It always does!
Always respected the Lovie Smith Bears team. They were rarely as talented as my Packers but they played smart and hard and wouldn't beat themselves and took advantage of every mistake their opponents made.
The Bears had enough talent to win. Defense was stacked. Offense had Greg Olden TE, Matt Forte RB & Knox, Bennett & Hester at WR. Cutler was an average QB, talented but underperforming. They just for whatever reason never synced on offense and had successive drives.
Jay Cutler didn't get hurt he quit the team was down 14-0 and he quit, people saw him walking down the street the next day fine with his wife so goes to show you his leadership, commitment, and passion for the game was none, Phillip Rivers played with a ACL tear and MCL Sprained in 07 AFC Championship did one of the 3 surgery he needed to fix his knee that's balls, Jay Cutler was never a great QB he was mediocre

Jay had a few open TD’s to Hester but missed them. If he steps into his throws and sets his feet, those are easy touchdowns. He gets injured later on in the game , but the game could’ve and should’ve been either tied or bears would’ve had a slight lead. Either way they probably still lose this game but it would’ve been a better position to be in . Cutler footwork was terrible.
As a Bears fan, to this day I say Jay Cutler quit this NFC title Game, your the leader of the team at QB,if you go out there and break your leg, win or lose for a chance to play in the Super Bowl, SO BE IT! But to check out mid-game just showed how much of a leader he really was. You play to win.
OMG its been 14 years...I thought I could stomach this finally...but...I can't! It's a HORROR SHOW for any Bears fan! Look away! The terror is too much to bear (pun intended) I remember when Jay quit and the party I was at basically had a riot in house...Da Bears haven't sniffed a Super Bowl since
... And to think the Packers were THIS close to losing to a 2nd string rookie QB. Credit though to Aaron Rodgers and his breakout playoff run of 2010 which really made a name for himself.
I feel that the play of this game was when Rodgers made that tackle on Urlacher following the INT. Reminds me a lot of Big Ben's tackle on Nick Harper from the 2005 divisional game between the Steelers and the Colts.
The only reason it was this close is because Rodgers had a horrible game. Sure, he had a rushing TD but he also threw 2 picks and completed less than 60% of his passes.
@KyoKonKyoChin didn't the bears make the super bowl with Rex Grossman in 06. They apparently don't need a good QB. You can't blame the game on one player. (Cutler)
This is the game I figured out Cutler was nothing but an average QB with a strong arm. No heart, he wasn't hurt at all, he just wanted to quit. Hurt his knee but doesn't know when? Bullshit. He was a coward.
Dustin 05 . Same here. I used to be a cutler fan starting from his days in denver. I even had his bears jersey. I stuck up for him for years. But what he did at soldier field that day. I lost all respect for him. He had a great arm. But in the end, Jay was hos own worst enemy.
You guys really think Cutler quit...I mean the game was close...the SB was right there for the taking. If he did really quit...he must be kicking himself.
How does everyone not know he was hurt and didn’t quit? He had a mri that showed he sprained his MCL. He could barely walk after the injury. You think a nfl QB can throw on a bad leg?
I wouldn’t necessarily agree. The bears made it fairly competitive in the 2010s. I would say from like 2016 onwards except for 2018 when they had that one good year
To think the Bears could have avoided this fate. They had a chance to eliminate the Packers by winning their Week 17 matchup, but the Bears didn't play hard and let Green Bay into the tournament. And they've regretted it ever since.
Looking back on this game is interesting. Notice the Packers offense starts off hot, scores their second touchdown with 11:13 remaining in the second quarter, and then completely stall out the rest of the game and score zero points. At the time we didn't think much of it...but after ten years of watching GB choke in the playoffs it is interesting to see how this narrative would repeat itself. Good thing we were up against Cutler and 3rd String QB. Todd Collins played like his full time job was a financial advisor who was actually scheduled to bring snacks for this game.
Cutler’s problem was that he had too big of arm and didn’t know when to put more touch on the ball for better accuracy. And he turned it over a lot because of this I believe. He had a cannon for an arm.
One of the greatest NFC Championship Games. The Bears and the Packers were world-class, and this one went to the Pack. I do feel for the Bears; there are no moral victories. But this game is very entertaining to watch. Hats off to Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, and Pam Oliver.
How odd that the only time they won it all with Aaron Rodgers was when they were the last possible seed in the playoffs. They really should have made it in the 2014 and 2020 season
This low key turned out to be a good game. I thought Caleb Hanie was finally going to break our history of bad quarterbacks, but when he got a chance a year later , he really stunk it up . He was good for this game , I give him a lot of credit placed in a bad situation gave the bears a chance to win.
Was at home, sick as a dog, in this day. The Bears' are my backup team, but I cannot stand Jay Cutler, so it was tough to feel one way or the other about this game. Glad I missed most of it, as I was asleep most of the day!!
Bears stamped their one-way ticket to Football Hell after this...between the Bears of the 80s and early 2000s both eras could've produced a few championships but it never came together except for once in 85.
The 2010 NFC Championship game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears I think it's one of the greatest and it's a championship games for a divisional rivalry I wish you would have been the Bears winning it.
Bear down. Man this one hurt. that last pick me and the boys in the man cave that night was pissed the refs didnt call pass interference on GB.. oh well water under the bridge
That's because for as good as the Pack offense was with those talented WRs, they still had Capers coaching the defense!! As many would discover in the years following this Packer Super Bowl, Capers defenses often blew games and late leads.
I can’t even blame Hanie that dude was put under so much pressure with literally no experience and managed to drive the ball up the field. He probably panicked and threw that pick. Still better than Trubisky
That opening drive was a thing of beauty by Rodgers. Acting like that drive didn't get 7 pts and have a huge part in winning the game. Rodgers isn't a choker. Idgaf what anyone says. He might have had a good d here but must playoffs, his defense was TERRIBLE. He would come back only for his defense to give up the win again. Or going into huge games with guys like Janis at wr And throw whole getting that hit from peppers was a DIME. Jennings dropped it. I've seen this time and time again in games in the playoffs. Drips, fumbles etc. And Rodgers gsts called a choker Christ I almost forgot how fast Shields was. Once he has that ball, it's ROCKET MODE. Loved that dude
Not only that, but a few players like Eli Manning, Colin Kaepernick, Raheem Mostert, Matt Ryan, Carson Palmer, and Kurt Warner had the best games of their playoff careers against Rodgers
IMO once you win a SB you can't ever be called a choker. Tom Brady and Mahomes just messed with people's expectations for how many SB's a QB should be expected to win
This is the darkest day in Bears franchise history, considering the opponent, the stage, and everything that followed for the team
bordaz1 agreed, this hurt more than the 2006 SB loss🐻⬇️

To wit:

I'm still upset at this loss, due largely to the circumstances given and the Bears doing nothing since, only 2 playoff appearances since this game and zero playoff wins
Especially when the Lions recently won two playoff games which now makes the Bears have the longest playoff drought win in the NFC North.
@@Rickman897 yep, 14 years and counting

back when Rodgers actually released the ball on time. Best to ever do it when he had that mentality. Damn i miss Greg Jennings.... he was ELITE
Turned out to be kind of a jerk.
He does hold the ball to long these days.
@@jonhohensee3258 Yeah Jennings is an ass

They covered all the games for the packers in the postseason that year
Letting your most bitter rival win a trophy in your own stadium must have been TERRIBLE for Bears fans 💀
Happy Anniversary. Great day even though I was stabbed 5 times that morning. Saw second half after surgery. Good day for the most part.
They were good in 2011 and 2012. Cutty got injured in 2011 too.
Raji scared the crap outta me holding out the ball like that. Half a yard earlier and it would have been a fumble.
That onside and first drive might be one the most impressive things I’ve seen the pack do in my life
Always respected the Lovie Smith Bears team.
@@LeonardStauffer Didn’t help that the o line sucked as well
Jay Cutler didn't get hurt he quit the team was down 14-0 and he quit, people saw him walking down the street the next day fine with his wife so goes to show you his leadership, commitment, and passion for the game was none, Phillip Rivers played with a ACL tear and MCL Sprained in 07 AFC Championship did one of the 3 surgery he needed to fix his knee that's balls, Jay Cutler was never a great QB he was mediocre
He had good skills but the attitude was horrible. Denver got rid of him for a reason.

I will never forget how disappointed my father and I were this night…
Jay had a few open TD’s to Hester but missed them. If he steps into his throws and sets his feet, those are easy touchdowns. He gets injured later on in the game , but the game could’ve and should’ve been either tied or bears would’ve had a slight lead. Either way they probably still lose this game but it would’ve been a better position to be in . Cutler footwork was terrible.
Jay sucked, bottom line.
It’s unfortunate that this is the only conference championship game Aaron Rodgers has ever won.
Incorrect. The only NFC game he’s won. I think he’s 1-4 in the conference game.
@@LeonardStauffer that's what he just said tho 😂😂
When isolated due to COVID, watch old Packer games. 😆
Leader? I'm sure you meant LEAKER. Duh Bares just suck.
h. lloyd sounds like a giants fan
@@nikoburton9791 As always, you're wrong. My team picked off Cutler at least 23 times in 13 games. They just suck.

h. lloyd can’t even spell bears right asshole
OMG its been 14 years...I thought I could stomach this finally...but...I can't! It's a HORROR SHOW for any Bears fan! Look away! The terror is too much to bear (pun intended) I remember when Jay quit and the party I was at basically had a riot in house...Da Bears haven't sniffed a Super Bowl since
11 years later: "I still f'n own you."
When the Bears called that second timeout, they sealed their fate. Packers knew the run was coming.
When you score more points without your starting QB.
crazy that peppers wasn't ejected for that hit on AR12
"And green bay is going to ride to the superbowl in that!!"
This still warms my heart. Jay Cutler. The most effective QB the Packers never had to pay a salary to. 😂
Very true, if Urlacher takes that back to the house, it is a much different outcome.
The only reason it was this close is because Rodgers had a horrible game. Sure, he had a rushing TD but he also threw 2 picks and completed less than 60% of his passes.
i mean Rodgers was basically a rookie too.
@KyoKonKyoChin didn't the bears make the super bowl with Rex Grossman in 06. They apparently don't need a good QB. You can't blame the game on one player. (Cutler)
Back then it seemed like Joe Buck got more excited on interceptions than on Touchdowns but to this day he gets excited for both.
????
This is the game I figured out Cutler was nothing but an average QB with a strong arm. No heart, he wasn't hurt at all, he just wanted to quit. Hurt his knee but doesn't know when? Bullshit. He was a coward.
Dustin 05 . Same here. I used to be a cutler fan starting from his days in denver. I even had his bears jersey. I stuck up for him for years. But what he did at soldier field that day. I lost all respect for him. He had a great arm. But in the end, Jay was hos own worst enemy.
True
You guys really think Cutler quit...I mean the game was close...the SB was right there for the taking. If he did really quit...he must be kicking himself.
When Rogers beat us in the first game of this year I remembered this game and Cutler quit while he didn't
How does everyone not know he was hurt and didn’t quit? He had a mri that showed he sprained his MCL. He could barely walk after the injury. You think a nfl QB can throw on a bad leg?
Last year my Bears was even respectable, its 2018 & we're trying to get our team to respectability again

From this point forward, the Packers owned the Bears and continue to do so.
And they've regretted it ever since.
when Urlacher is on the field then you know that shit just got real
yeah.... sure
Some of it wasn't choking. Just bad luck or BS
Cutler’s problem was that he had too big of arm and didn’t know when to put more touch on the ball for better accuracy. And he turned it over a lot because of this I believe. He had a cannon for an arm.
Cutler wasn't afraid of giving receiver chances either. That's a big part of the turn overs too. He was willing to put faith in his receivers.
He had Tony Romo syndrome. Throwing into coverage constantly.
@@pretorious700 But at least the Cutler bears were competitive.
Big arm without precision=out of the league
Exhibit A: Why Jay Cutler wasn't worth the overpay he got as a pro. Can you say overrated???
Love this game!!
"Aaron Rodgers,who is still hot"

He feels the same way about Bryce Harper.
One of the greatest NFC Championship Games. The Bears and the Packers were world-class, and this one went to the Pack. I do feel for the Bears; there are no moral victories. But this game is very entertaining to watch. Hats off to Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, and Pam Oliver.
Forte was a beast.
1:23:24 Actually one of my favorite plays of all time. Just when you thought it was over Urlacher saves the day
They should put haine in earlier
This run was epic!!! Shame Packers didnt win more Super Bowls.....so many chances and so much talent.
This is definitely one of the all time great packer teams, 2010 had a hell of a roster.
This is the greatest game in NFL HISTORY
Was at home, sick as a dog, in this day. The Bears' are my backup team, but I cannot stand Jay Cutler, so it was tough to feel one way or the other about this game. Glad I missed most of it, as I was asleep most of the day!!
What an amazing story.
Bears stamped their one-way ticket to Football Hell after this...between the Bears of the 80s and early 2000s both eras could've produced a few championships but it never came together except for once in 85.

It's hard enough to play in the NFL the way it's is.
why is todd collins even on your roster
Came here after Cutler got arrested for DUI and possession of handgun while under the influence. Packers really exterminated this man
Aside from the 85 bears, this is definitely the best bears defense
86 bears defense was better statistically
85 and 86 bears were better

Just think, if Lovie Smith doesn't call a timeout, the Bear probably pick up that first down! Oh poor Bears fans
Excellent to step on the Bears before the Super Bowl victory
The Jay Cutler mystery "injury"...
No mystery he was hurt. Too bad he was only one on this team worth a damn

Jay Cutler is still better than half of the QBs in the league in 2018.
Green bay should have had at least 2 more titles following that season.

I was just happy this Packers squad beat the Steelers 8n the Super Bowl. Couldn't ask for a better story
Bears almost pulled this out with a 3rd string qb
Probably the best QB the bears ever had
That's because for as good as the Pack offense was with those talented WRs, they still had Capers coaching the defense!! As many would discover in the years following this Packer Super Bowl, Capers defenses often blew games and late leads.

Or going into huge games with guys like Janis at wr
