10 Trending Plants | Chatuchak Plant Market Bangkok Thailand

- In this episode, I hand pick the top 10 plants that I believe are the trending plants. My criteria is (1) existing buzz/hype surrounding the species (2) how its coming into supply suddenly (3) my own personal bias probably lol.
This is the first time I film in this format, as I am not used to ranking plants by popularity or trend. (I try to avoid the word trend as it suggest and uptick followed but a downturn). But I after my experience traveling around many shows in Indonesia and Thailand, I might… just be qualified to suggest these rankings!

I actually enjoy the one without the voiceover style because it actually makes me feel like I am a part of the adventure. It will have all the mic interfearances but it is raw and real. I love listening to the noise of a market with people being excited about plants may it be the owners or buyers or window shoppers haha. It actually gives the uniqueness of being in a different culture. Also, it actually takes away from the real and raw reaction from you. IMO🙂✌.......no need to apologize about the mic because I enjoy the old style. I might be alone on this haha.....thanks again for a great video and do whatever you think is necessary and I will still support you. Take care.

Recently I've come to realise that I love variegated plants so much. Aroids to be specific. And the Golden Dragon and Billie Variegated are definitely at the top of my wish list. For now, I can only dream.
Wooh the prices would come down at some point. Billietiae may take longer as they are slow growing

It spans the whole market in the open area. If you look at it from above it forms a loop, encompassing the outdoors area. (Its not in the shaded tents/buildings)

The Variegated Hibiscus does flowers a lot just like the other ones. The flowers are red in colour. We have a very big one at my mothers place and it’s always in flowers. It’s in ground and in full sun

I looove those variegated money trees, definitely on my wishlist, also #9. I have an Albo clusia rosea I bought recently, hasn't grown yet but it went through hurricane Ian in the mail for weeks so it's probably still recovering. Thinking about sticking it in leca...
Maybe take some cuttings of it. Hope everything else is safe from that hurricane 🙏🏽

I actually have one but it died and came back to life many times over the years. I later learnt that they do go dormant… I havent felt confident about the care enough to do an episode about it but I will definitely do it once I get the hang of it!

Hi Sean, I have a small plumeria tree that lives inside during the winter (Canada) and outside in full sun for the summer. It's about 6-8 years old and finally bloomed for the first time for me last winter. No flowers this winter but it did finally branch out (it was more like a plumeria stick rather than a plumeria tree 😂) But it is possible to grow them indoors :)

Hey Sean, I kinda agree with you with your theory about ZZ chameleon. It’s kinda the same with variegated snake plant that if propagated via cuttings, it produces a totally different plant, one with no variegation at all.

I purchased the ZZ Chameleon here in the USA for $20. Even the green leaves are darker the the regular but not as dark as the raven ones

I love Chatuchak. But am wondering if I can bring the plants back to Malaysia. The Monstera Thai Constellation is very hot right now and super expensive to invest!

I’ve planted the sea hibiscus in my garden and it grew very quickly. But sadly I had to chopped it off coz it turns out to be mealy bug magnet.

Wow, I’ve never seen a Kaempferia before! They’re beautiful, like a psychedelic geoppertia (still not used to saying that instead of calathea).
Edit: my philo golden dragon is on the way to me! I normally don’t do this shape of leaf, but c’mon, “golden dragon,” how fantastical and magical is that?
The kaempferia is far more forgiving than calatheas hehe. And yes the name is mystical 😀 i actually dont have a dragon yet, might pick one up if the price is right

If I remember correctly from our episode at Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens, they are “fern-allies”. So maybe they are not quite ferns.
can we bring caudex or plants in international flights?
If you dont get caught 😅 it depends on how tight your country’s regulation is and its punishment if caught.
Hi, may i know where does the plant stefanias are located in which part of chatuchak?
Theres 1 permanent booth and theres 1 that is sometimes there. So 2 in total. I cant remember the location but its hard to miss them, they look like carts selling potatoes 😀

You will need an import permit. Unfortunately India has very strict laws about bringing plants in, many have failed. If you can get by this, coming to Bangkok to shop is a great idea 😀

Runs and puts my plumeria back outside.This is the hottest plant in my neighborhood,little old ladies walk by and steal your plants off your porch in my hood.
Omg lol. Maybe you can put some sacrificial plants that are cheap for them to steal… put a sign that says “take these instead”
