I have you to thank for my new appreciation of Oxalis. I inherited my Mom's old pot that I disliked growing up. Without proper light and regular water, they always looked like dying weeds in the windowsill 😹 With proper care/conditions now, those happy little purple shamrocks bring me joy.😻
Your plants are just unrealll!! For my own sanity, please do a video of plants that are on the Struggle Bus, I need to know that you have problems too!!! 😅😅😅
Wow Jan. Thank you for your physical efforts 😂 But in all seriousness, you really put all of yourself into what you’re passionate about. Thanks for holding up heavy things for a long time for us. 🤗
I tried adding moss to the top of the soil on a couple Alocasias and am getting the most beautiful growth! I water when the moss gets dry and it’s working beautifully!!
I have the Thaumatophyllum next to a northern window (I’m in the northern hemisphere) and it does grow big leaves! Love it, it’s such a statement. In the summer I bring it out to patio
I forever love your cuprea because of the maroon-purple leaves. But I love the anthurium magnificum. I recently purchased one on Facebook marketplace and it’s a baby. I want to put it on a moss pole one day when I’m not lazy/busy.
Hi just found your videos last night I’m leaving in Ireland where it’s basically winter . I’m crazy about aroids and building up my collection. They live in the shaded side of the glasshouse but I now have brought in all my houseplants. I provide grow lights for them. My rule at the moment is unless it’s starting to droop I don’t water them. I have them all grouped together . I’m not prepared to use a humidifier because I don’t want to have issues with dangerous mould growth in the house
I put my Thai outside this summer (NZ) and she's about to do her first winter outside so we will see how it goes! In her few months outside so far I've had 2 new stunning leaves when inside I'd be lucky to get one a year.
All 10 are my favorite! Seriously, Jan we began our anthurium journey after discovering you. Each one you showcased today, we have and love. My favorite of all though, your Thaumatophyllum. I love those things. The bigger the leaves, the better. Yours is stunning and so wonderful you're able to grow it outdoors.
I always admire your plants. I wouldn't buy any of them myself, but as you say yourself, I enjoy having them in your collection. And I think they do better that way. I would never get them as big as you. I like that you prefer to be a plant grower rather than a plant collector.
Thanks so much for showing us these! Gosh, I couldn't even pick one single favourite - they're all so gorgeous! Maybe a top ten... hehe. Oh! And 3 of my little Oxalis triangularis nuggies sprouted & have been growing like mad. And the first one I planted (& biggest nuggie by far) has sent up a flower stalk. They're such cute little fellas. I love how they sort of tuck themselves in for the night, folding themselves up to sleep. They look like little closed umbrellas or sleeping bats. ("Bats??" I knoa, random, but there was a big tree with big, dark purple leaves by my childhood home, and I always thought they looked like a bunch of bats hanging from its branches. It was amazing to see it moving in the wind. I really liked it. I was kind of a weird kid. Totally grew out of that! 😅) But yeah, cheers! I absolutely love these show-and-tell videos! Very comfy, and always such beautiful plants and great info, and your lovely self, of course. Oo and thanks for the Bradley cameo! We stan Brad! 😽
You have a beautiful collection!! I might give anthuriums a try. I mainly stick to philodendrons and pothos. I’ve not had good luck with alocasias. Mine always want to go dormant during the cold season and they never come back as big as the previous year.
Love the last one, mine is also outside and lost all its leave’s over the winter. Now it’s coming back. I do have a backup plant in the house. I also have cupra and it’s in a self watering planters. I also have several crawlers and yes between them and my alocasia and rubria juvenile the spider mites have a party.
I think I’m keen to get your honorable mention, I had a smaller one of those leaves used in a floral arrangement I received and it lasted for months in a vase of water, just beautiful.
@@sydneyplantguy I am also in love with your Thaumatophyllum. I gave someone a small one, can’t remember if it was a Xanadu or Hope…he got promoted so the person that took his office said he’d watch after it. Nope, it was just about dead. I took it hope to rehab and bought him a fake succulent arrangement. It’s growing but it’s going to take some time to get to the lush plant it used to be.
Beautiful display as always. I always learn so much from you. Would love to see a video on tissue culture and where you get yours. Not sure if you've done that yet.
Wow your plants are providing you with a nice at home workout ❤ they're beautiful and I could stare at them all day in between watching Brad of course lol. The strapy leaves plant is my favorite one ever. Thank you for taking the sticker off the pot lmao
You have some beautiful plants and you are an inspiration. I’m air layering my philodendron melo…how much roots do you look for before chopping and repotting? I don’t want my big beautiful leaves to wither away during the process.
I have two teeny weeny baby Alocasia cuprea potted together. I love them! They are struggling a little bit to mature, but I'm assuming its just growing pains. I found out they really didn't like the high humidity in my propogation box, so now they are in household humidity: 50 -77 % and are definitely less droopy. One of the two plantlets is doing the alocasia cycle, though. I am planning to nurse them 'til maturity, after which I'm sure they'll take off. I have succes with alocasia, even though I can't keep a regular Monsterra deliciosa alive. Your plants are so beautful! I would like to try Anthurums in the not too distant future, but don't want to use moss poles. I would very interested in a follow-up of your mosspiles.😃
That oxalis was getting whipped everywhere 😂, it is so beautiful i want one now since you gave some great care tip ideas. Im hoping my little thai constellation grows up to be big like yours one day. And now i want a crawling Philodendron they are so beautiful and i love the crawling nature.
Not sure the process with uploading videos but I wanted to share that your sound levels are typically about 50% less than other videos. I always have to crank up the sound to hear you after watching other vids. I do it because I love the content. Thanks for the content.
They are all absolutely beautiful! I have high hopes that my little droopy cuprea can look like yours someday. your forgetii looks like art it is so stunning 💚
Your plowmanii is absolutely epic!! Always amazed at the size you can get in your plants in the Australian climate 😍 would love to get some of mine there one day, but it’ll take a while 🙈😂 (I’m in the U.K. so it’s quite cold)
I love that Cuprea! I may have to get one of those. I did just get 7 or maybe it was 11, corms for the Oxalis!! I will will be potting them up this weekend. I just love yours so I have to give this one a try! And now you come farting out with that variegated Frydek!! Just Wow!! I NEED one of those!! I have had great luck with the Dragon Scale and Pink Dragon so I hope I have success with a Frydek. I love the Luxurians too!! That is a pretty plant! The vittarifolium has been on my wish list for a while now. I already have a spot picked out for it in my bedroom. I am not really an Anthurian fan. But now I have to go find a moss pole video of yours, I have to put some together this weekend. Enjoy your weekend Jan!! It is a holiday weekend for us here in the US, Memorial Day, to remember and honor all our vets. Also, the official kick off to summer!
Also, question about your thai con - have you ever experienced a root rot? Got mine like 6 months ago and it had a root rot within first month even though she was planted in super chunky mix. Changed a growing medium for pon and hoping for better results but been researching that and found some information that this plant has a root rot in its DNA kinda 😂
They are all my faves!!! Wow! So jealous here… shouting out from NJ! Transplant from Germany. 16:54 Question. My Cuprea has been facing her leaves downward, why do they do this? Too much light? Anyway, love your videos!
The Cuprea was on my wish list, I brought it home and that night all the leaves drooped within a couple hours and now it’s dropping all its leaves not even had it 3 days, all roots are perfect. How dramatic 😂 The shop is gifting me another but I may have to match the humidity, maybe it was higher in the shop or maybe I had too much light. I’m scared to bring it home. All my other Alocasia have been fine. Wish me luck.
Hey Jan! Recently bought myself an oxalis and it’s loving the outside spring weather. Just have one question regarding the other potted plants. Do you soak them to water them or pour through? I just find with such a chunky mix so much runs through and I feel like I’m always wasting so much!
