Always be a heartbreaker. All these years later, I cannot get my head around it... I met Philip once for five minutes in bundoran County donegal 1981, I had one film left in my camera, and it wouldn't work, I asked him could I take his photo or us together, he was so polite and said let me try to fix it and he looked at it and wouldn't you know , the flash went and took a photo of the astoria ceiling where I worked. I'm just really glad I met him even for a few minutes. Years after I walked past the astoria, I had to stop I felt profoundly sad. I remembered the energy in that small dance hall when thin lizzy came to town.
I remember the day that Phil died that I played 'Spirit Slips Away' by Lizzy ."May the angels be watching over you ,that fateful day when your spirit slips away ".
Loved Loved Loved Phil Lynott!God Bless Him,He was the best and will never be another like him!Saw him in 1980 i was 22 ,30 years later i am Still In Love With You Phil!! I listen to him everyday, not a bad song!Just got done reading the Book His mother wrote My Boy what a great story and a great Lady she was!R.I.P Philip You are Missed every day:(
Thanks for uploading this fascinating stuff. I remember hearing Brush Shiels as a guest on the Gay Byrne radio show a day or two later - he broke down in tears when Gaybo mentioned Philip's death
Phil was my favorite singer and they were the most influential band in my musical development I still weep sometimes listening to those great lps thinking of my childhood. I saw them on the Journey tour when Gary Moore left before I saw them in Oklahoma, The Black Rose tour.. that I never got to see Gary Moore was sad but I will never forget Scott,Phill and Brian live.. it was great. I still have the Vinyl orig they are worn out and skip allot : )
Philip Lynott: I was sorry to see it go... everybody thought it was a scam, that we'd be back together again in six months. Maybe it's because I'm such a proficient liar... but there was no way around it, it was definitely goin' to end. And now it's gone, it's never goin' to come back. It's like your virginity... that's the way I feel. It was a good band, I was very pleased to be in it.

Completely heart breaking.
They broke the mold when they made Phil Lynott.
Phil was one of a kind- but everyone in Thin Lizzy ROCKED- let's not forget they were a band not a singer....
