I know! We thought long and hard about the purchase. My hood was missing the back bracket also, the whole thing would tip forward and back. It was really hard to get it to even open!
Just a cheap plastic design from John Deere, heat and sunlight must make it brittle over the years, I think this was the first series of plastic hoods.
cant believe you didnt break those eggs in your pocket how long were they in there? one lonly farmer just got a hood for his tractor said it cost him 8 thousand dollars hope yours didnt cost that much thats a lot of potatoes!!
Let just say I can relate to the price! We waiting to make sure we were going to keep the tractor for 3 years before we decided to get a hood for it. It is a lot of potatoes for that hood!
you know Molly it is sad to say as much as a John Deere costs..... and all the advertising they do,... on how tough and reliable / durable they are...... even the big tractors have plastic hoods and as they vibrate and rattle they fall apart. get UV rotted and fall to pieces. I have a riding lawn mower and it did the the same as yours.... just falling apart and for a small price of 400 hundred dollars i can have another hood that fits my mower and for another 150. i can have all the decals too. So i said nope i used green duct tape and then scuffed the hood inside and used fiber glass cloth and resin. And they say hahaha nothing runs like a Deere meaning tough and durable Right watch how in a few years how it weather checks again... fades and becomes brittle. can't they just make them out of metal for as much as we pay for them?!

@@josmith3565me too!

The potatoes will keep that long in those tote bags? Did think they could get air in them?? Do you guys have any issues with hollow heart?? Do you use an xray machine to check them??
We rarely have hollow heart issues, but no we don’t have x ray. We still keep air circulating in storage and try and keep it under 50 and they will keep in tote bags till august
@@shanebell9589 wow..I didn't realize they would hold that long in those bags? We always used pallet boxes as do i..how are you coming on those pics of the brusher?
It’s in our old Quonset hut, just gotta sneak out back there when I can and see if it looks like It’s all there still
They will keep in the tote bags. Of course towards July august they are not perfect looking. But they are used for French fries mostly. So it’s ok
We do not use X-ray to check for hollow heart. Some of the really large ones will have it occasionally from growing too fast. But it’s not a big problem
@@paullhommedieu2795 can you email us? That way I can exchange info. Our bedside has the email :) thank you
Another great video Molly! Very interesting about how many potatoes you guy sell in a season . Molly yout a beauty queen on steroids! Thanks for letting us come along.
Thank you for the compliment! And they you for watching :)
Why did you choose John Deere and not maybe new Holland ?
Parts availability to be honest is a huge factor.
How long normally do potatoes last from picking to shipping to stores and customers??
Well for us, this year they have lasted October to March. And we will have the tote bags to that should last us until august. So probably 10 months for our farm.
@@BellsFarming hmm interesting the potatoes I buy from a local grocery store here within few days usually they start growing eyes or whatever you call it and get hard
@@mikemorgan4726by the time you get them at the store they are warmed up, when I said 10 months, I was talking about in our storage. But we have ideal conditions in there. The grocery store is warm and very light. That is why they start to sprout.
Runs like a Deere
I’m glad it started right up!
That is simply ridiculous what the price of that new hood costs bet it didnt cost over a couple hundred dollars to make
I know! We thought long and hard about the purchase.
My hood was missing the back bracket also, the whole thing would tip forward and back. It was really hard to get it to even open!
Lots of French fries there Molly lol Get Shane to cook us his best potato recipe, any guesses what it will be ? lol jk
It’s actually scalloped potatoes, was that your guess? Haha
And porkchops lol just buggin ya man@@shanebell9589
That hood prob cost you as much as a load of potatoes?
It was expensive, but it was time to replace it. It’s an investment on the tractor. As long as we don’t drop it putting it on! Lol
How did the hood get damaged
Just a cheap plastic design from John Deere, heat and sunlight must make it brittle over the years, I think this was the first series of plastic hoods.
cant believe you didnt break those eggs in your pocket how long were they in there? one lonly farmer just got a hood for his tractor said it cost him 8 thousand dollars hope yours didnt cost that much thats a lot of potatoes!!
Let just say I can relate to the price! We waiting to make sure we were going to keep the tractor for 3 years before we decided to get a hood for it. It is a lot of potatoes for that hood!
Where do you get your Seed potatoes
We get our Norwis from Steve Bubar farms in fort Fairfield Maine
you know Molly it is sad to say as much as a John Deere costs..... and all the advertising they do,... on how tough and reliable / durable they are...... even the big tractors have plastic hoods and as they vibrate and rattle they fall apart. get UV rotted and fall to pieces.
Yeah, I think this good was the first generation of plastic ones. I would hope that they have made some improvements. I do wish metal was an option
Is your dog an Akita
Yes she is. We have 4 actually
🐕🐕🐕🐕
You need a blooper reel. Just a thought
I know! I have been thinking of that! I do alot of silly things, and the dogs too!
