I was thinking the same thing. Those rates sound like barely an inconvenience given how many in a litter (if that's the right term, sorry krogans, I'm not racist).
“You all know the mission and what is at stake. I have come to trust each of you with my life, but I have also heard murmurs of discontent. I share your concerns. We are trained for espionage. We would be legends, but the records are sealed. Glory in battle is not our way. Think of our heroes: the Silent Step, who defeated a nation with a single shot. Or the Ever Alert, who kept armies at bay with hidden facts. These giants do not seem to give us solace here, but they are not all that we are. Before the network, there was the fleet. Before diplomacy, there were soldiers. Our influence stopped the rachni, but before that, we held the line. Our influence stopped the krogan, but before that, we held the line! Our influence will stop Saren! in the battle today, we will hold the line!”
I adore this species. One of my favorite video game extra terrestrials. I love it because it's so "alien", also they are scientists so they gain automatic bonus points.
Whats crazy about them is that to a krogan the wars were one or two generation ago cuz they so long lived. To salarins it was ages ago. So they like get over the war. But krogans like yo I lived through it.
Thanks :) Me too! With each video i make, i'm getting more excited! Also Bioware promises new information on environments and gameplay on 4th January at the NVideo CES conference
Late as heck. But I'm here. Really enjoyed this video. Salarians are an interesting species. Despite the fact, they look simialr eye laying organisms on Earth, I was so surprised they as a species reproduce by the females laying egg. 😂 3:14 Shoutout to the people who fell for Mordin, I know that rejection must have hit hard.
Normandy Chef: Commander, Since you guys are fighting so hard to save the universe. I decided to cook everyone their favorite Dish. Javik: My mother used to make a Salarian Liver soup Mordin: ***wut
Awesome educational video as always! When you talked about how the Spectre Program was inspired by the salarian's STG I thought you were definitely gonna mention how the first Spectre, Beelo Gurji, was a salarian. He was the guy who helped out young Anderson, effortlessly, during a bar fight I think. You can also find him in the records during your chase of Clone Shepard in the Archives in the Citadel DLC. Do we know if there are any genetic differences between male and female salarians? I'm mainly referring to the fact that females often have much more impactful positions within their society (higher social class) compared to males. Is this simply a cultural development/choice because the female salarians are fewer in numbers, or is there more to it? In other words, does each gender perhaps have typical characteristics (or more likely skill sets)?
Oh that is a good point! I totally should have mentioned Beelo Gurji!! I don't think Salarian females and males differ in terms of genetics. I think the reason they are so powerful is because of their few numbers (value) and also because the young male salarians physologically imprint on the female dalatrass' making them loyal and submissive to the females
I don't think the Salarian that helped Anderson in the bar fight was the first spectre considering the Spectres are an institution almost as old as the council, salarians lifespans rarely exceed 40 years, and humanity was only part of the galactic community for 26 years at the start of the mass effect series.
“I AM THE MODEL OF A SCIENTIST SALARIAN, I’VE STUDIED SPECIES, ASARI AND BATARIAN. Mordin: YUS.
I'm quite good at genetics as a subset of biology, to which I am an expert I know is a tutoligy.
Please stop making me cry 😭
that song be on spotify and a live video of it bein performed by the fella that voiced mordin

I don't think I was 1 in 10 births being stillborn. Only 1 out of 1000 births survived (99.9% stillborn).
I was about to come down and say the same thing! They'd give their 2 left nuts for those birth rates!
I was thinking the same thing. Those rates sound like barely an inconvenience given how many in a litter (if that's the right term, sorry krogans, I'm not racist).
@zenzybar I believe the term is "clutch". But we know you aren't racist, because no one would dare be racist against the bestest bois in the galaxy.
They say they are not attracted to females yet that one time there was a Asari table dancer. The Salarian was very attracted.
They don't have normal sex drives like other species. They have sex drives but it seems to be very, very low sex drives.
very late reply but thats because every species is attracted to the asari. its kind of implied its some kind of power on the asaris end
@@OfficialShrek agreed, it’s only more of a parasitic ability. Similar to how a succubus appears as what the victim most desires.

Jonas Nielsen one of the most epic moments and speeches from mass effect, love kirahe :D

Imagine an entire planet of Sheldon Cooper...
Yeah they might be my favorite race as well. I love the concept of shorter lifespan and fast metabolism resulting in sharp, quick brains
I CANT WAIT TO PLAY THIS TRILOGY AGAIN! ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!
So that's why Salarian biotics are never seen.
Glad you started this series. Salarians are my favorite species. Was anticipating this video and you didn't disappoint.
Thanks :) I love them too, especially Mordin, so glad that its been confirmed Salarians are in Mass Effect Andromeda
@@N7Kate 2 years on, how many times have you replayed andromeda? Jw.
I have only done one playthrough and I kinda felt like I had done enough...
@@NearlyH3adlessNick All the way through only once, all the other mass effect games - ME1 5 times, ME2 - 5 times, ME3 - 3 times

Fun fact : they used to eat flies.
Said with a sly smirk.
Why did they stop?
That's Sun Tzu saying...
Salarian as a species it's very pragmatic, I like that about them, cool vids! getting the hype for Andromeda!!!
Nokard Thanks :) I also really like the Salarians
Video on salararians, had to be me,someone else would have gotten it wrong
I'm not crying *You're crying!*
Mordin Solus FTW! :D
9:23 yeah right during the fight with Seren they didn't knew shit . i had to do all the job and ended up killing kaidan
In principle. Aka, not always.
The Salarians a representation of what modern militaries and societies should be like.
😮 that tune in the background has me wanting to get back to Mass Effect
I find it funny that I read the whole codex and still watch these videos
I am absolutely loving this lore series Kate. It is getting me super excited for andromeda! Yay 2017!

Straight away, Reaper Capital Ships landing on Thessia.
The Slarians, I would imagine, would be very interested in Sun Tzu.
Love your Lore videos!! Keep them up!!
RS-NOS Thanks :)

Your never too late to learn about the Salarians, or any ME species. Thanks for commenting, glad you enjoyed the video
Right off the bat, Salarian guards on Sur'Kesh?
Thoughtful explanation; thanks!

Good point as well. Didn't think of that (despite having heard about it, just now, in your video of course).

Love your videos by the way!
I wonder if there is a Krogan clan that realized where their race was heading and separated themselves
Salarians are Mourning Day Geckos.
RIP Mordin
Very fast lizard people.
Kaminoan esque empathy
when you talk to a salarian you know they are always hiding something.
Well they need half their brain to communicate with "slower" species... So you won't know what the other half thinks of you 😜
New sub here love your videos hope to see you in andromeda co-op
Thanks for subbing :) I will definitely be online playing the Andromeda multiplayer when it comes out
Krogans disliked the video
the lizard people evolved?
see? the reapers are good at something. the protheans shoulded be vegan.
God damn, I hate the Salarians!! I don't know why.. but they piss me off!!
I did too, then I met Mordin. While I didn't trust him at first, he quickly grew on me.
Krogans agree
Hard to listen to. A more alive voice with clearer intonation might help out on that front.
ich du Wtf are you on about? She's talking isn't she? How more alive do you want her to be? Dopey git!
