awesome job as always with the real review. while I see the upgrades, and love how slim they made the phone, I can't bring myself to abandon my note 4. swapping batteries and sd cards is just too convenient.
I agree even if I get the note 5 I won't abandon my note 4 especially because it's unlocked, have a 10000mah battery and a 128gb sd card. So note 4 is a win for me all round and all these software stuff will get to my note 4 with custom rom so I'm great. Besides these phones are becoming too much and Damn spending 800 every 6 months is crazy lol.
+Cloud Thomas haha spending $800 every six months, sounds like you and I have the same problem, I'm always bouncing around from phone to phone. Custom Rom is the way to go on the note 4 for sure though, takes care of every software problem lollipop presented after the update.

I watch this video on TH-cam yesterday, they stating That this flood of high end smart phones is gonna slow down, because alot of people don't really see a need to upgrade so fast anymore because you will start to see your 1 year old smart phone is still good enough and I have to say I see their point, because this is the first time in awhile I don't see a need to rush and upgrade because my note 4 does eveything for me no issues to lag no nothing. I'm running a custom rom still but nonetheless I'm quite happy with my note 4. Let's see what the note 6 as to offer and besides if USB type c is the future I will wait until that becomes, ore popular with phones to upgrade. Lol and save some money lol..

Flossy: Have you heard or seen issues with the S Pen not locking in easily (not talking about PenGate here), or the spring breaking or malfunctioning on the Note 5? I played with one on display, and the Pen was very sensitive - it would only lock in by pushing it in with your fingernail, and several times it took more than 1 attempt to get the Pen out. Being spring-loaded, it seems to me that part is likely to break down after days or months of use. You don't want to have to struggle getting the S Pen in or out - I know it was very frustrating with the one I used. Please respond.
The video was very informative. I appreciate a real review from your point of view. I'm still rocking my Note Edge due to the Micro SD card and non removable battery on the Note 5. As far as the battery life comparison to the Note Edge and the Note 5, all phones show pretty good resilience with their battery life within the first month or so. Afterwards it's downhill. The Note Edge you have, has been used for 9+ months or so. Will the battery life still be the same for the Note 5 9 months down the line. It's very unlikely. I'm looking forward to your real review on the new Motorola X Style coming out soon.
The battery should still be the same because it's not only about the size of the battery, the phone has a new processor which is designed to optimize battery performance. That's a big deal.. Even when my note Edge was fresh out the box, the battery drain sucked ass. Plus the note 5 charges so fast, and is twice as smooth.. That's a huge upgrade for me.. Moto should be a beast too tho

If you really like the note line, the new note is going to be announced early August and probably released mid to late August so I might suggest just waiting. Me personally, I loved the note but never really used the S-pen so if that's the case I personally think it's worth the upgrade.
Just FYI though I hear the new note is going to be a Note Edge with dual edge display!

Me personally I would go with the Galaxy S7 edge. I actually just ordered one. The Nexus is a really nice phone but hardware wise the Galaxy kills it. I've never had a Sony phone personally so I can't say anything about them but I have heard there not all that great. Before deciding on the Edge, I considered the 6p as well. One main pro it has is that it's stock android so you will get the latest updates first which is really nice but the hardware on the Galaxy and the fact that if you really want stock android you can always root was what made me decide on the Galaxy. Also, the expandable memory is a huge plus.
+Flossy Carter you have any issues with the Bluetooth connectivity on the Note 5?? My X2s only work when the I'm holding it close to my face. If I put in my pocket or walk away from it it starts to skip/disconnect. the range is terrible. I was wondering if you experienced the same issue

So I'm totally thinking about taking my S6edge+ back and getting the note5. I'm coming from a note3 which is old but I LOVE!!!!!!. Well one issue i was wondering abt is. do the Notification Task bar with all the notification font size the same on the note5 as the S6Edge+?. When i compare to my Note3 the font size is a little on the smaller end. Please Help would be awesome!!!!! I know that samsung offer great feature on font size option but there's no overall option to change the notification sizing

I hate how people were complaining about Samsung having rubbish material on their phones, now they're complaining about how premium the phone is, they wanted something premium, and they're still complaining, they're complaining about how heavy TouchWiz is, Samsung got rid of the features that people don't use, they're complaining about the lost features, well I don't like that the IP67 certification is gone, and I don't see why they are upset with the lost features

After watching your S6 videos, I've found myself watching all of your Real Reviews, because they are so much better than the tech mumbo jumbo all the other channels do. Plus you really go in depth, and explain the things real consumers look for. Much respect, can't wait to see your next review!
Hey Floss, just curious what your battery life is on your Note 5? So far I've managed to get a little over 5 hours screen on time with mine on a single charge. That is miles better than the 3.5-4 hours i would barely manage with my Nexus 6.
Just wondering if you're seeing similar results. I'm running stock touchwiz with no assistant apps (like greenify, etc).
Flossy Carter these are my opinions on this phone. I have been a Note user since 2012, I've put up with Touchwiz bugs and lag just to get the function and S-Pen.
Its a beautifully designed and built phone, however this doesn't translate to complete Note experience.
In the past both the Note and Galaxy lineup were fully different with the Note devices being the most capable.
Ex. Better Battery Life, Larger Screen, Better Camera, etc...
Starting this generation they emasculated the Note lineup by basically making it a large Galaxy S6 with an S-Pen.
Same Processor
Same Camera
Same Storage
Same RAM type
etc.
To make things worse, they equipped both s6 and s6 edge with IR Blasters and they released a 128GB version of the device, they omitted these on the Note lineup.
They also failed in making touchwiz lighter (it's definitely less cluttered) as the Galaxy s6 out of the box uses 2Gb of RAM out of the box for Android and Samsung Apps. There is wide reports of the s6 lagging and being basically unusable after installing too many apps. (seriously, Google it).
To ruin the complete experience, they first ruined our Note 4's with their lollipop update and instead of releasing a proper software that is equitable to the one released on the Note 5.
And to add insult to injury, they removed a lot of features us power users need like expandable storage, removable battery and a bunch of sensors (microphones, temp and humidity etc...) and equipped the Note 5 with a smaller and less lasting battery (Albeit more power conserving).
I have been running a custom debloated ROM on my Note 4, I get better battery and a much better experience than the stock touchwiz ROM.
In my personal opinion Samsung screwed up, nobody complained about the Note 4 build, only the software experience. I won't be upgrading to the Note 5 just like my wife didn't upgrade to the Galaxy s6.
Hanging my #SamsungKnight armor, let's see if they fix these issues next year.

Floss compared the BMW M5 V8 with dual turbo chargers that gained ONLY 40 hp.
Why didn't BMW make the M5 with a V10 with dual turbo turbo chargers and gain 100+ hp instead.
It's all in profits, and Samsung wants their piece of pie.

Next year, when we see the return of Expandable Storage we'll see Samsung try to cater to previous users that they've lost.
I keep hearing how nobody ever uses a removable battery or an SD card, but absolutely everyone I know that has these features have used them one way or another.
Like I said before, Samsung used all the internals from the S6 and a tweaked Note 4 Screen to manufacture the Note 5. If you want to make them some profit and enjoy a beautiful zippy phone, go ahead it's your money.
As for me, I'll be moving to Motorola in a few months when i get tired of my Note 4

Super review. Been ordering some cases online with your input in mind. Also decided to import a Note 5 after this. Thanks for that. Wanted to ask, what's the name of the case that you show on your S6? With the golden frame and transparent back? Looks kinda dope. Do you have a separate review for it? First off shout out to floss for a great review, I definitely value your opinion but imo the note 5 is just Samsung's version of an iPhone, aesthetically it is a beautiful phone but that's not enough for me to upgrade from my note edge which to me is the best of both worlds, I get the best edge functions, ir blaster, removable battery & SD card slot, and with all of that you can't compare that to the very limited note 5, then on top of that, for you to get what I have on the note edge, you would have to buy extra accessories on top of the $800-$1000 price tag, and why in God's name will i buy the SD card attachment for the phone, now I'm gonna an ugly wire hanging out of my $1000 phone, to me that doesn't make any sense. Also with all that glass on the phone a sturdy and durable case is mandatory, which no matter what case you have on it will take away from the beauty of the phone. So even tho I think the note 5 is nice, I don't think it's really worth it to upgrade, you will spend more on this device to get everything you got on your note edge......
I disagree homie, the no lag factor ALONE is more than enough to make me retire my egde. It's a great phone no doubt, but the bugs get too annoying after heavy useage.

Lol I never said it was wack Fam, but the little bugs and lags when you're going beast kill me.. Don't get me wrong, its still a beast and still has the best functional Edge out, and the camera, SD card, removable battery and S Pen make it a top dog.. It's just after you get use to the smoothness and lag freeness, you can't go back...

You don't understand Pengate yet giving some boring ass example . What if your friend doesn't know about it since it fits so well , what if one day you made a mistake by inserting in backwards , you might not having the problems but majority of note5 users do. The fear of getting it stuck because of design flaw is one of the most annoying thing you could ever live with!
