We already know the specs will be beast. The screen makes everything else out there look like garbage. Touchwiz definitely is a big improvement from previous version. Camera is on point. Samsung is definitely on steroids this year hell bent on killing Apple and I couldn't be more glad. Good job Samsung.

Just one major Prob for me Daniela Okafor ***** officially killed custom rom support by making them both exynos. No devs will be trying to port that device to CM anytime soon. One last exynos dev remain at CM Ethan Chen and were not with a stable build up the this day for the i9500 s4.

Definitely agree....Samsung is taking an effort towards improving the software...needs more of a push though...hardware wise apart from BoomSound , Samsung gets all the + points this time around..
Also dislike the glass finish at the back...though again that's a personal choice...as it's non removable anyway an all metal would've been a desirable choice!
nikhil nandakumar I'd go for the HTC because of the full metal and the boomsound and no TouchWiz, but it's definitely a closer call than last year (I felt that the M8 destroyed the S5)

Same here. Their phones used to look so dull and plastic-y. Touchwiz is also pretty horrid but this phone doesn't look as bad as an upgrade from my nexus 5
OMKO agreed. HTC is out-shining Samsung this year, despite Samsung's massive budget. And touchwiz is still atrocious looking.
Tim Gehrsitz and to be honest, I'm frustrated so far by the HTC M9. Maybe I have to get my hands over it to experience more. But it's like HTC M8 (with maybe a better camera). I was hoping they would introduce finger-print or something, but they didn't bring anything new to the table this year.

i can't say it's awful at all but I feel disappointed for the new flagship handsets.. the few things that impressed me is the 600 nits display and the exynos 14nm finfet. I hope meizu will use that.

Pretty cool. For once I'd actually consider getting a Samsung phone. The edge lighting during calls is such a small thing, but I totally geeked out when I saw it pulsate against the table :P

That stuff is useful I use it to store school files and transfer music from previous phones with no complications or downloading extra software on my laptop.
Same cartoony Touchwiz, Ugly design, Small battery with Quad HD, No microsd expansion, No removable battery, no longer waterproof, snapdragon in North America, no front firing speakers, and a glass back instead of metal.

Meh, I would actually choose the S5 over this heap. Looks like crap, OS is still crap, the edge looks like a gimmick (which I'm sure Apple will try and copy in a few years and then it will be popular all of a sudden). I would even chose an iPhone 6 Plus over this, features are comparable, and the lack of added storage and removable battery and lack of waterproofing makes it loose any "edge" they had over Apple. Sure it has more ram, but that's also because Android takes more ram to run because it's Java based. Not a real fanboy of either side (though I am a Windows fanboy with about anything else, and if they get NFC tap to pay on Windows phone, I'm switching), though I think I prefer the new iPhone to this.

I'm not sure if I'd pick the S6 or the Edge. I like watching videos and playing games on my phone and the question is, how much the "edge" would influence that.
This is the first Galaxy phone that's impressed me besides the Note 4. This or the Moto X...
The phone charges fast so the battery doesn't really matter, and 32 gigs with cloud storage is more important. Front facing speakers would've been much better though. Hmm...I wonder what the XDA community can do with those edges

I'm ok with the 2 sided curved display i think it will feel really nice when swyping across the screen.
That said... I want my future Note5 to have an enhanced fingerprint scanner, better s pen button, maybe curved edges as a novelty. And that's kind of it... the rest of this phone is damn near perfect....

S phones are pretty good and it's where Samsung introduces new technology first, but it's refined and perfected on their Note series. Love my Note 4. Plus it's compatible with Gear VR (which I highly, highly, highly recommend if you love movies and have a Note 4).
Note 5 is up next. Can't wait.

It allows for 360 degree gaming as well. However, content is limited and you need a controller.
Movies is where this device shines. You can watch theater sized videos in a number of backgrounds. You can also watch 3D movies as well.
That alone is worth the price. The games and other features are very welcomed bonuses and will only become better as support grows. VR supported content is an experience. If you have a Note 4 and are considering it even a tiny smudge, seriously consider getting it.
I'll hopefully order mine today.
Samsung needs to market this thing to the heavens. I have no problem stating that it's the best accessory for a phone to have ever been made!
Watch some videos on TH-cam. I recommend watching some Ritchie's Room Gear VR videos.
That's a good idea to have the colored edge display allow you to access your most used apps or whatever you want instead of just the contacts. Hopefully Samsung takes something like that into consideration for a software upgrade or something

Venci Nacario there is no bloatware, they all moved the bloat to one app called Galaxy apps which is like a 5mb file which takes you to a page where you can download that bloat (I dont think anyone will do that :P )

It seems Samsung, Motorola, and LG are the only few brands taking risks and continue to innovate with new ideas unlike Apple, HTC, and Nexus who are playing safe with releasing marginally incremented upgrades every year. Biggest disappointment is the HTC this year with M9....

I was so surprised with the S5 being IP67 certified and remember thinking "Samsung is really onto something, trying to implement it as a standard". Disappointed they didn't do that with the S6. I would rather have cheaper plastic edges and a plastic back cover if that meant they could make it IP67 for the same price.
Also disappointed in removing microSD support. I know Google deprecate it, and have good reasons for doing so, but that just sucks. I hope the 128gb model won't be too expensive.
I'd love for you to comment on this in the full review MKBHD, microSD support. Especially since the M9 has it, pros and cons, and consequences for the retail price.

Ok they stepped up their game with the hardwaredesign but the software still looks like from 2010 thats suvh a dealbreaker for so many people as most are to lazy to change the rom. And stock android is just fine, but hey every manufacturer got to put their ugly trampstamp on everything

Expandable storage cannot possibly create lag.
They removed it because the exynos processor is way more efficient and effective than the snapdragon and the quad hd display is tested that it is actually no more efficient than a 1080p screen and for the expandable memory they integrated UFS 2.0 into it that is up to 4x faster than a high tier micro SD.

What would you choose Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge or Iphone 6 plus?
I worry about the screen edges getting scuffed up in regular day to day use and the screen being susceptible to breaking from drops, even with a case. What do you all think?
MKBHD i am planning to buy a budget phone. I narrowed in on Moto G (2nd gen) and Asus Zenfone 5. Which one do you think is better ? Any other suggestion in that price range ?
The previous plastic feel was never a problem for me (Phone case made it irrelevant). Removing expandable memory feature and not having access to the battery is kind of big deal for me. I would have to get my hands on the S6 to see if the exchange is worthy

I have the Note Edge. With the lack of apps available for the Edge, and lack of even useful ones, I find myself really only using it as my app drawer (no longer use the home screen for apps, only google now, and gmail widgets). The Edge does help with jumping from app to app without having to return to the home screen, so it would have been nice if the S6 Edge also had that feature for apps, instead of contacts, as MKBHD stated. The contact "colors" is gimmicky...I don't think many people prefer to place their phone face down (who would risk that to their screen?). As for having the screen on both edges for lefties, I have to say, as a lefty myself, the right edge on the Note Edge has never been a problem. I may be a little more ambidextrous than others, but it was never a problem for to use the phone in my right hand. On top of that, if you get any flip cover, you will pretty much be forced to use the phone in your right hand.
I heard that the S6 Edge doesn't use the same Note Edge apps, so that's a bummer for me. Guess I won't be seeing much of anything developed for my Note Edge.

Hey! Although the swipe from the edge of the screen is pretty dope, they already have an app that does that on regular flat screens, not trying to promote or anything. It is pretty dope though! You can choose which apps and also choose which corner to swipe from and add shortcuts. But try it for yourself "swipepad"
You can get a similar experience with the Nexus 4's edges too. Yes, it may only be the glass that is curved not the screen but, it leaves a nice feeling on the hand.
I think the original Edge made more sense as it had a dedicated 2560 x 160 strip just for the edge, allowing full 2560 x 1440 16:9 content without issues. For the S6 Edge, you don't get this separation between the edge and the main flat display as it's just one 1440p panel. I've yet to see it in person, but in theory you don't get much benefits compared to a regular flat display besides the easier side swiping and the "cool factor" by showing it to your friends.
So you have this S6 and you might have been using is for a month so does it lag now? Any problems with it yet? Is it slow just like other Samsung Phones become slow after few months of use.
I've never been too fond of Samsung. More of a Motorola guy, but this design is amazing. Samsung still hasn't bought me in the software department (in my opinion), but they certainly have in their phone designs. Awesome video.

It is to be noted that the display is not curved in GS6E like in the Note 4 Edge it is the curved glass on top of it that gives that curved view feeling.

Played with the model version at T-Mobile. Looks amazing. Touchwiz is more cleaned up. Less clutter. I might get it when it drops in 2 weeks.

Request: You can set the phone to go straight to camera with a double-tap on the home button. Does enabling that feature create any noticeable lag when single-clicking the home button? I figure that the phone has to wait just a half-second to field a potential second click, thus forcing the phone to lag for that half-second if you just want to go to the home screen.
Amazing...this is only the beginning of something new to the game. Once software is developed to fully utilize the edges it will really take off.

A definite & immediate YES for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge over the regular S6. I wish Samsung some day would allow users to customize or choose what they want to keep in their phones instead of pre-loading phones with TouchWiz & Samsung softwares which many don't use at all & they can't be uninstalled.
I've been enjoying sloped edges for years... on my nexus 4. Idk why it's taken other manufacturers so long to borrow this design cue. Its pretty awesome, makes swiping feel much more natural.
Do know when It;s come out and how they are going to cost.And how long the battery will last.
Looks amazing, regular S6 looks like a disappointment next to this one in my opinion! GG Samsung.
So the big question is.... can we put a case on it?
I have the S5 and was all ready to upgrade to the Note 4, over the Note Edge, but now that I see this I think I'm going to go with the s6 edge. Having that curve on both sides vs what samsung did with the note edge makes much more sense.
After going back and looking at the normal S6, it made it seem like there were no side bezel on the S6 edge which is pretty cool.
