    Jayna I love your point about wanting your boys to respect women no matter what they are wearing, specifically your comment about topless women in tribal cultures and still being able to preach Jesus to her. That is an excellent way to look at it.

    One of the things my Dad taught me and I will never forget is " It is braver to be the only one saying no, than to go with the group" relating to friends wanting to do something stupid and daring you. And you think it's brave to go along, but the true bravery is to say no and be the one to not do the stupid thing.

    As a mom of young men, I really like Jayna’s comments on teaching our sons respect for women. Modesty is not only physical appearance, but a general attitude about the human body. Reigning themselves in is a modesty standard for men!
    Food-like substance, I felt that comment! 😅 You won’t fix your health with a powdered drink your friend sells, or interesting “supplements.” Eat less added sugar and junk, and eat more real food, it’s that simple. We aren’t in control ultimately, and the Lord already knows exactly when our earthly life will end. Praise God!

    Jayna, I have so much love and respect for the way you answered the question regarding knowing when your family is complete ❤️ I've never thought about it that way, that the family I have as it is IS complete at this moment in time. What a beautiful thing to hold on to for moms who have challenges in this area. Thank you.

    This was such a great episode! Several comments resonated with me (even though I'm not a homemaker, I'm a single, no kids, and a master's student). I LOVED Megan's comment about how youtube has made her more open minded and helped to not get stuck in an echo chamber. We hear so often about the negative & polarizing side of social media, but it can also increase empathy and curiosity! Also, Jayna's comments about teaching her sons to respect women is so wise. 💯
    Also, I'm glad Megan mentioned church hurt. I think this is something that we should talk about more as Christians. In my experience, my own "church hurt" slowly started to heal when a Christian friend listened to my story with empathy and no judgement or defensiveness. When they said, "It's understandable that you don't feel safe at church. I would feel the same if I had your experiences." That's when I started to think, "hmm maybe I kind of might like to try coming back." If only believers knew how healing empathy can be 😊

    What Jayna said about still including people of different beliefs/lifestyles as long as they're acting respectful and appropriate made me a little teary eyed. It's nice to hear Christians say stuff like that. I've unfortunately known too many people who have been shunned by their family and it completely devastated them emotionally. Being a light in their life I think is so valuable. Obviously, sometimes we may need boundaries of some kind. But shunning entirely can push non-believers or people of different lifestyles further and further away from wanting anything to do with spirituality. In my case, it was even someone in the immediate family! I'm glad we chose to still be hospitable and welcome them into our home for holidays and get togethers.

      Jana's suggestion of how to keep communication open between parents and children is excellent. As she was saying how she talks to her boys, it reminds me that our children are so different but having that kind of open communication, you can easily see how they respond and then relate/handle them accordingly. You ladies have shared a lot of wholesome thoughts.

    When confronted with a loved one who made a life choice that I am fundamentally opposed to, I had to work through a lot of prayers to finally understand that it’s not my job to judge, I need to leave that to God. It’s my job to just love this person. Once I understood this, I felt a lot calmer and less distressed. We need to let God handle things and just be a witness for Him. Enjoy your month off. ❤

My hubby and i have been married for 7 years and haven't been able to have children and sometimes i feel like my life hasnt begun and i have a hard time thinking of just the 2 of us as a "complete family" or even just "family" since it feels like we are just a "couple ". Your discussion today was so good! You two are wise beyond your years!! Modesty is so individual, and you handled the topic well! So often in many areas it’s easy to be judgmental! My son isn’t living the way I believe he should, but our responsibility as his parents is to make sure he knows he’s loved & that we’re praying for him that Jesus will once again be at the center of his life!

    I am looking back at my life…. I had so many problems as new immigrants!! Without the church family we would not have survived! I had my first baby 3 months after we got to Toledo,OH in an ice storm. It was 58 years ago! With Jesus & the body of Christ you can face anything. I was so depressed the first 3 months after my beautiful girl was born! Jesus is always with us. The hymn ,
    When we walk with the Lord …..was my song!

    I enjoyed this video chat ladies. Y’all are such a joy and a blessing. I’m not Mennonite but I am a follower of Yeshua and He calls all of us to be His salt and light. So yes I agree with y’all on so much. I think that we as Christian’s are so quick to write our loved ones off bc we just are judging without knowing them. We must remember that His grace is on us daily because we too aren’t perfect. Or at least I’m not. Yes Jayna, core doctrine and what is personal preference!!

    Everyone's perception of you is going to be their own, and I wouldn't worry about what others think of you, but I think of you as all of the above. You can be more than just one thing. You guys give so much of yourselves to everyone around you and your channels. I think mennonites are typically hard workers and at the same time very good at living in the moment and being together. It's very inspiring.

    Hello Megan and Jayna;
    Wow, you two are so spot on today!
    So many times we may loose faith for one reason and/or another and then we need time to find our way back to the path that is ours... (it may be a hurt or an outside pressure that pushes us to step back or away and in my experience, it just takes time and we need to allow ourselves that time too...!!!)
    And yes, as God loves us, so we are to love one another, as I understand...
    We are not all the same so room for healthy acceptance of healthy differences seems to be the key...
    I so appreciate all you both had to say... keep up the good work!
    Take care
    God Bless
    Hugs

    As a European who has lived in the States for a decade I had to laugh so hard at Jayna‘s comment about baking in the metric system. Yes, I agree wholeheartedly! As it‘s based on weight and not volume, it is much more precise, and can also easily be used to bake cookies. It‘s just a matter of having to get used to it. I convert many of my US recipes to the metric measurement just because it is so much easier to use the scale instead of so many cups☺️

    Regarding healthy lifestyle: being in the second half of my life I learned that the most important thing is to avoid sugar as sugar is causing an acid environment in our body which causes inflammations and in the next step cancer. You can live quite careless when you are young but when you get to a certain age then the mistakes made in the youth e.g., unhealthy food are presenting at a later stage of life.

    I think it’s important for everyone to remember to look at people’s faces not their clothing. Praying with my children to see people the way Jesus does. It helps to have compassion for others. It’s football season and the commercials are not always that great. We teach our children to look away and have conversation’s that someday they will probably be around boys that won’t do that and they’re supposed to still hold their values❤

    Most people i know who obsess over healthy food (including myself) deal with health issues and are just trying to feel better. Most of the time, fixing your diet can really make a positive change in how you feel. Sometimes you have to go drastic to get the change you want - To feel normal again. Food is very powerful and can really impact your body and mind. I personally don't know anyone who does it for beauty or aesthetics. Not saying its not a reason for some.

    • @EmeryShae
      @EmeryShae 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I agree. I don’t obsess, but I do take care to buy food to prepare that is more nourishing for our bodies. I think it’s something you don’t consider until you start to have health issues.

    • @momoflittleladies
      @momoflittleladies 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I agree too- if we are to be good stewards of our fertility, money, ect… then clearly we should be good stewards of our bodies and what we eat.
      I have a child who would have been put on loads of medication for ADHD but we choose to change her diet and at times are strict about it (like a friends birthday party). Why would i ignorantly feed her dyes knowing she will spend the second half of the day crying hysterically and clinching? That shouldn’t be considered obsessive, it should be praised that we are raising children in a natural way vs man’s big pharma.

      @@momoflittleladies💯 you are doing your child a great service! Those who haven’t walked our journey in behavior or health issues that are clearly linked to what we eat don’t understand. Some people say things because they haven’t walked a journey or out of ignorance either way it won’t stop me from doing the best for my family.

      @@momoflittleladiesamen!! I so admire u for going that route, I feel the meds drs prescribe for ADHD should be illegal.. I have a cousin who has a son with ADHD and was pumped full of those meds growing up and it was scary watching when those meds kicked in, he was so numb and his mouth drooping and drooling.. so very sad that there r parents out there that don’t believe they have it in them to first try a different route

    I totally agree with Jayna on the swimwear. I bought a modest swimsuit off Amazon. And I can’t believe I felt beautiful in it. It’s a longer black flowered top with shorts.

    Living in Switzerland, we always cook/bake with a scale and in metric units. If you’re using your kitchen aid use one dish to measure and then pour into the running machine. You can actually correct well with the difficult exception of salt.

    Hi Girls I am sitting having a coffee after a busy morning.
    I have raised 4 children who are now all grown and leading successful lives and they are nice young people.
    However, your worries and concerns are the same as any other Mum just trying to do her best. There is an element of luck involved. You can only advice and set a good example.

    I think when we talk about the passage saying not to worry about what we eat or what we wear, we need to look at both parts of it 😊. Is obsessing over clothing/fashion any different? Where is the line where we have taken it too far?
    Also, I’m with Jayna on the coffee! I don’t care what it looks like, but I want my maple syrup and cream!

    I make macarons and I use small bowls, "tare" or zero it out as I fill with various sugars and almond flour, and then you put it in your Kitchenaid. Almost all recipes online I've seen also actually have the grams for cookies, etc! Great tip! Also what a special memory with your Mom at 3am! That's SO fun!!!

Once we did adopt, we knew. Our hands were full! And Jayna is right. We are all gonna die, but we do need to care for our temple.

    Thank you for this inspiring episode. Your chat always made me think about. For people with different way of clothing, I've some muslims colleagues at work who wear very different clothes (abaya and veil) but when talking with them, we have more in common than I could have with atheist or woke people. Respect is the key word, and not judging, trying to be a witness of Jesus to them and praying for them, and not forgetting that as human being we all are sinners and all need God's forgiveness.
