      I'm telling you. This is amazing. I've never seen these weapons used together. I've always seen the character baldo from soul calibur use a katar.. and now that they've incorporated more of an Indian theme to rain from mortal Kombat 11 and added the katar as his weapon... I like that it's getting more exposure this is an incredible weapon

    Nice technique looks cool, but in a real fight none would be this willing and the axe hand is in danger for getting cut all the time. A real fight against someone with a sword that is much longer than the reach of the katar+axe would favor the sword much more. A proper fighter wouldn't get that close that his hand could be hooked like that.

    The real name of Katar is "Kidaari" is from the ancient Tamil warfare class of weapons. Kidaari derived from the term "Kedayam Ari" meaning the "Shield Splitter" in Tamil. The name indicates this weapon being used to break shields and armor. The weapon was used by many ethnic Tamil infantry units aka "Kaalatpadai". This falls under the "mushtikai" class of Indian weapon system. "Mushti" means the fingers closed and "kai" means arm.

    The sword attacks are ridiculous. Only the worst kind of amature would come in swinging like that, they'd come in point first and thrust and use the length advantage of their weapon, not wind up like they were hoping for a home run. I could see blocking with the katar and then attempting to bind the weapon or the attacker's arm but come on.

    A thing to realize with unarmored demonstrations like this, especially using weapons, even blunted ones, is that in order to perform it safely, it has to be exaggerated and choreographed. because if you succeeded in controlling someone using a hatchet, you've probably mauled their arm a good bit in the process.
    That said, there are two relevant points: One. It doesn't look like the swordsman is used to swinging a live blade at a person. He shows no confidence in his ability to control his sword. Two. Some of these techniques look a bit suspect. How much of that is from the poor showing of the swordsman and the exaggerated nature of any weapon demonstration is debatable. But to be honest, it's nothing you wouldn't find in any combat skill turned martial art. Once the skills become divorced from the circumstances that birthed them, they are all prone to developing fatal flaws.

  • @Jaime_Protein_Cannister
    @Jaime_Protein_Cannister 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    This demonstration is as useful as those self defense lessons by fake guru's.
    The only legit move was the one where he blocked the wrist.. but you don't need 2 weapons to chop of the hand... this simply wouldn't happen , because nobody who trains in sword arts is stupid enough to lead with the body against a cold weapon.
    There are 2 problems with dual wielding.
    1. it's not that practical the weapons get in the way , dual wielders needed to be extremely skilled or know EXACTLY what they were doing.
    2. The weapons are too small any longer sword with a bit of power behind it would cause serious damage here.

    • @MrDrakePrice
      @MrDrakePrice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sprunkers Incorrect, a dual weilder is your worst nightmare when you have a long heavy weapon, only thing, maybe an epee or rapier could get around this guy, but having short weapons he has much more leverage and speed.

    • @Jaime_Protein_Cannister
      @Jaime_Protein_Cannister 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrDrakePrice lol u must be joking. Two handed weapon is not only longer more powerfull but also does not suffer any significant speed penalty contrary to popular belief out 100 battles dual wield looses 90 times. Dual wield cannot receive heavy blows properly nor can it get in range of Average 2 handed. After a few blows from a two hander your hands would suffer or youd outright drop the weapon, youre much better of going hybris 1.5 hand and 1 hand style. Moreover the shield and shwort sword combo does everything better than dualwield. Most short swords can be used like the rapier to stab at the visor before dual can even think about the next move.

    • @ohshipman
      @ohshipman 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Explain Rapier and dagger then? Or side sword or dagger. Or even backsword and dagger. The technique demonstrated here can be used with all these sited european combinations. In fact, we have some similar to them. The problem I see in this video is more in the attacker that is over gentle to the demonstrator. But the core of the thechnique shown is quite solid.
      And you probably haven't ever heard of "parata in croce" or "tutta coperta". And these are just the italian terms.

    • @Jaime_Protein_Cannister
      @Jaime_Protein_Cannister 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason for this is poor armor early stages of Renaissance , with the invention of gunpowder armor went out of fashion in favor of mobility. Heavy armor did not protect against matchlocks and cannons. Spanish especially found these types of weapons favorable due to the naval conquest, which promoted swift unarmored raids and duels.
      I guess I'm talking about completely different time period eg 1300's to 1600's

    • @ohshipman
      @ohshipman 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Jaime_Protein_Cannister I see where you are coming from. But you have to understand that in the renaissance, longswords also existed. I fought a longsword with rapier and dagger and rapier alone. Rapier and dagger is basically op against a longsword.

Just as how if you're not a police men you shouldn't be walking around in a police uniform and saying things, to the public eye all they know is that he is an officer and whatever he says must be true. That is what this man is doing right here wearing a uniform and people that don't know much history or know any better believe him because of what he's wearing and how he looks. If you don't believe me, believe him lol. There's a video of him apologizing to the real Nihangs in india and saying sorry for spreading false Sikhi because the real Nihangs approached him about it peacefully, but yet after that apology he goes back to UK and continued ...

      wearing blue garb and turban has nothing to do with sikhism. naga yogis wore it since the last 1000 years imitating shiva. look for the battles fought by babur and akbar where naga sadhus fought against them.
      imitating a police officer is an offence because it has to do with state security and state authority.
      dont tell me because you bought a red t-shirt and blue pants, i cant wear the same.anyone can wear what he /she wants.I can teach u the history of akalis since the time of govind singh btw.
      i have seen the video of him apologizing in darbar sahib, he did it to protect himself from fanatic sikhs who do not have the balls to hear criticism and introspect.
      the gurus told you to open your eyes and be rational and look how irrational and fanatic you have been. you beat guys for cutting beard, you threaten people for haveing pags with peacock feathers and you call names to people for wearing blue chola.
      shame on you, you make the gurus and their message a shame. you and people like u o not have the right to call yourselves sikh.
      dastar and beard doesnot make someone sikh, understanding the message of equality, freedom and respect for other peoples/views/lifestyles does.

You're not getting my point you keep thinking I'm telling him or you what to wear that's not the case. And the whole first paragraph you wrote is irrelevant to this man he is obviously wearing as a representation of the Nihang sikhs he calls himself a Nihang ...
