I'm a huge fan of blood angels, but the whole point of them in 40K is that Sanguinius is dead and gone. The sanguinor is super cool and I'd love to see a primarch-esk model for it in a range update but bringing Sanguinius back would be a mistake. It downplays everything that has happened in the setting given what happened to Horus and the Emperor and the rest of the Imperium in the last 10 000 years as a direct result of his death.
That being said, I'd love to see Vulkan, Kahn, or Corvis return. Vulkan's dope and could do very good things for the greater imperium and it'd give the other two an excuse for GW to remember they exist.

    • @jorgemontero6384

Does it make sense to bring him back? No. But if we see the sales of space marine models dwindle, because all that we see is more primaris with a slightly different weapon, something shiny will have to happen, even if it involves jumping the shark. At that point, they might as well give us Sanguinius riding Big Chompa into battle.

Yeah, as a Blood Angels player, whilst part of me of course wants him reborn and would love to see what happens if Sanguinius came back - I think it would ultimately be pretty silly and would ruin the setting.
He's too powerful. How could you use him in game and have him 'balanced', only to see him get slaughtered over and over by rolling a 1. What would become of the black rage and death company? Too many silly bits involved. May as well bring big E back and be done with it at that point.

Sanguinius, like Horus, should remain dead. Both of their deaths are integral pieces to the lore. Sanguinius' death not only has implications for the Blood Angels, but its symbolic to the Imperium. Right behind Horus, he was seen as one of the best primarchs by all his brothers and by the Imperium (even Angron is chill when people talk about The Angel).
His permanent death is symbolic for the downward spiral of the Imperium: their Angel is dead, and the Primarchs left behind are too divisive to lead a united humanity.

So, some wolf priests mentioned seeing "a great warrior riding upon speeding winds" in one of the books and who's the fast primarch whose psykers use wind powers? Jaghatai
The Arks of Omen campaign ended with Vashtor and friends going into the webway and who's the only primarch in the webway? Jaghatai
Currently the White Scars and most of their successors are on their homeworld of Chogoris after fending off an invasion from the Red Corsairs I believe, however the Red Corsairs are still in system.
So in summary, the arks of omen going to where Jaghatai is, wolf priests of the Space Wolves (who also saw visions of a great warrior lying asleep under stone which was obviously the Lion who then returned) also saw visions of Jaghatai and similarly to the Lion returning when the Dark Angels had all their successors together and were in great peril, the White Scars are in a similar situation. As few as possible would be my answer. Fulgrim is a given now that the other 3 chaos legion got theirs, but I'd like him to be the last one. It's no gonna happen, but that would be the ideal scenario still.
40k themes were always about the desperation with a glimmer of hope, the stagnation and encroachment in belief, the lack of progress and compensating with numbers to face all the threats, having lost all those mighty heroes and legends of the Heresy era. The Primarchs returning comes with all sorts of problems that defeat those themes. It could be fine if some of those returns would bring really interesting concept and originality, like what if Leman is now all mutated and "wulfenized" by having being in the warp for so long and is now being seen as a mutant, which would not sit well with a large part of the imperium and his brothers and some of his sons. Or having some confirmed dead finally (they could find the remains of Dorn finally, and having intersting story around that). Just random examples, but GW will never do something like that, instead they will just return and all will be good and dandy. Then when everyone will be back, there's won't be any mystery to the setting and it'll become so much more stale.

Or something like if they are killed, they reappear attached to any other unit or replace a model in the squad they are attatched to until that squad is destroyed and then moved?"

Could probably just replace a character that is still alive. And give him a separate abilities depending on if he respawn as attached to a squad or not. That way he has a clear limit on how many times he can resurrect, and there is a definite counterplay plan to prevent/reduce the number of his resurrection.
Or, if you want it to revolve around dice roll: You start with 2 dice on first round. At the end of the turn, if Alpharius is dead, roll those die, and if you roll one 6, he revives back by sacrificing one model in your army. You also gain more dice each round, so he'll be more likely to revive the longer the game goes. This way, *everyone* in your army can technically 'become' Alpharius, but at the same time, given how often he'll resurrect in this way, I don't think he'll be too strong stat-wise to balance things out.

Even if he did its unlikely he would ever return to the Imperium seeing truely corrupt and oppressive it is going against all of his personal moral leanings and thinks its just not worth saving the Imperium anymore)
Rogal Dorn its not yet confirmed if he is truly dead or not in the current lore because if he had actually died then the traitors especially the Iron Warriors and their primarch Pertuabo would be non stop gloating about it especially to the faces of their most hated rivals the Imperial Fists yet for some reason they are rather silent about it.
Primarchs who should not come back and should definitely stay dead
    Traitors:
Horus (his soul has been erased from existence and his former first captain Abaddon is already filling his successor role)
Konrad Kurze he wanted to be killed by that Imperial Assassin
    Loyalist:
Sanginius should definitely stay dead and his role for the modern 40k era is already being filled by Dante, Mephiston and the Sanginuor

Bonus points if the battle involved White Scars and Space Wolves, bonus bonus points if Leman Russ is the one that has to duel him as I'm pretty sure they were somewhat closer in the lore.

Still would be a cool story line, though if we want a angsty duel to free him it could be cool to go with Magnus, force the two to work together for a time (plus the thousand sons are constantly trying to get into the webway).

I personally realy hope they dont do any shenanigans to resurrect the confired dead primarchs, I dont mind them bringing back primarchs and for the loyalist ones the two theyve brought back actually fits with establishd lore as Gulliman was always ment to come back once hed healed that was the point of putting him in stasis, and the Lion was flat out prophesised to return when needed most (which certainly fits with the current story). By that loginc my bets on Russ, as again fits with the lore of returning for 'the wolftimes' and also, Space Wolves are SUPER popular. What would be interesting, and it would really shake things up and piss off certain people, is that if one of the three loyalist primarchs that went into the warp: Corvus, Russ and the Khan, came back having turned to Chaos. Possibly a demon primarch. It would make sense since they have been in the warp for 10,000 years. It would make those three chapters into Dark Angels in the sense that they are half loyalist and half traitor. Like idk what or why people think this they are the 4th most populous faction and only behind chaos which too busy with itself, tyranids which not even all arrived yet, and orks which killing each other. Eldar are basically dead race because gw loves screwing them over, tau are tau they never been a big empire though would be cool see them actually focus auxiliary models. Necrons while dangerous way to limited in numbers. Making imperial forces big bad guy with multiple primarch returns is fine so long they actually give love to everyone else. It’s very easy too. Just make the tau get more auxiliary random xenos and more human tau lore love, give necrons anything like one tomb world is holding titans and silent king full sends making multi system super empire of defense and drones. Orks are orks just make gaz a Demi krork making gork and mork more motivated just making orks even more what they already are. Eldar just literally anything. Give harlequins love, they are so fucken cool, give exodites love so interesting, have a super world ship running back inside the Milky Way as another hive fleet chases it giving eldar more population. Have eldar actually be smart and devastate slaanesh just enough so they get another god or two depending if Russ gets isha or whatever. Like everything will be just the same and just as fine with story progression. It’s still just as grimdark but more in many different ways with just more power being thrown making it even more bleak as normal person in galaxy of hell.
Want anything that isn’t just exactly same nothingness with not progression. And progression doesn’t mean not grim dark if anything this gives even more grim dark as idk what is more depressing than the fact that no matter how many times things “improve”, how much you get stronger, how much forces push and defend, gods arrive to help, no matter what tactics or critical blows it will never ever stop this endless war of genocidal uncaring and evil forces at each others throats.

We already saw in 30k Imperium casually beat Orks into submission. Everyone else was hiding from Imperium. What's the equalizer? Imperium stomps everything if they get all their loyalists back. Guilliman + Imperium has driven back Abaddon, Angron, Mortarian, and Magnus multiple times. Now you got Lion coming to help.
Perturabo is the only competent Chaos guy that has outplayed his loyalists counterparts, and GW only wants to focus on the 4 Chaos gods personal Primarchs. Imperium survives against these fools and everything else against them without Primarchs. With Primarchs they start winning.

You could sort of return Sanguinius while not devalueing his death by more so recreating him.
If the Sanguinor merged with the Black Angel they'd become a warp approximation of Sanguinius, with the same basic characteristics but not really the same person (argueably, not even a true person). That way, tactically speaking, it would be the primarch of the blood angels, but in character interactions it would be a reminder of what was lost during the herecy.
You could write really compelling inner struggle for this warp Sanguinius, struggling with his identity and with reacting to other primarchs accepting or not accepting him as their brother. Also, would be fun if he and a returned Rogal Dorn liked each other, but Dorn's anty-warp aura didn't let them hang out

  • @eugenebelford9087
    @eugenebelford9087 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

In terms of narrative I think that Jagatai Khan will come back next. He was lost in the Webway, not the Warp so a return can be nicely constructed around progressing the Ynnari storyline. And as a narrative element his presence would IMHO fit nicely into the current state of play because a) he's the embodiement of the hunt and of scouting and b) he would probably have the knowledge to travel between the two halves of the Empire avoiding the Rift and using parts of the Webway instead.
The hunting and scouting allows for a great number of potential story arcs: be that hunting an important relic or character (or snatching them in a daring raid from Chaos or Drukhari) or be that as scouts gathering information or as a last ditch reserve force that can save the day wherever the tide turns against the scattered and beleagured Imperial forces.

Fulgrim and Leman seem to be the most likely two next primarchs. As for the others, I do expect everyone to have a model eventually. Everyone including the dead ones that come back for one reason or another.
For example, with the new third Horus heresy book the door for Horus returning has been creaked open a little. I still wouldn't expect him any time soon but you could theorycraft a handful of reasons for him to come back such as the Emperor is busy slowly turning the remains of Horus' soul into something workable since Horus saw and accepted he was the one in the wrong (and the terminus protocol interrupting this). It certainly would be an amusing curveball to have a loyalist Horus pop out.

    2. The Khan: He was hinted at in Arks of Omen. His return could give the White Scars the popularity boost they desperately need (and I'm a White Scars player lol)
    3. Leman Russ: you can't have the Lion and not have the Wolf
    4. Vulkan: because he's the second to last solo primarch to return. Everyone else is connected (minus one)
    5. Perturabo and Rogal Dorn: they have to come back together and this would be HUGE!
    6. Corvus Corax and Lorgar: they have beef in the novels (including an amazing fight). You could honestly interchange 5 and 6.
    7. Alpharius: He should be the last to return and the buildup should be big.
Dead Primarchs should stay dead, but if you're going to bring back any:
    1. Ferrus Manus: should be an automaton programed to believe it's the primarch
    2. Conrad Kurze: a bestial, semi mindless, killing machine of a clone

I suspect that the next two to return will be Fulgrim and Corvus Corax (typed before I finished the video).
Fulgrim is the most likely one simply because he rounds out the quartet, it's rumored that the Emperor's Children are getting a codex this edition, and he already has a demon primarch model released for 30K by Forge World.
Corax, on the other hand, is admittedly more speculative. My main reason for predicting Corax to be the next loyalist primarch is because unlike Jaghatai Khan and Leman Russ, he's actually appeared in a Black Library story set in the contemporary era, where he terrorizes the Word Bearers on their home turf as a not-a-demon. Honestly, Corax as a shadows incarnate primarch would make for a sick model, given how GW's gotten a whole lot better at sculpting ephemeral-looking things over the last few years.
Personally, I would like to see Ferrus Manus return, but only as a primarch dreadnought, with the reason why it took the Mechanicus so long to bring him back being that Cawl hadn't yet invented a sarcophagus-analogue that could revive a severed head.

I mean, we will for sure see every primarch come back except horus. All of them have the plans laid out for their potential return in lore even sanguinius. Maybe ferrus return is a stretch but thats it.
Konrad wore an Eldar spirit stone, meaning his soul is still alive somewhere.
    Great video!

Watching this video with the gift of knowing what happened with Valdor in that last End and the Death book, it would be an awesome twist if the King in Yellow had taken it onto himself to find all the wayward primarchs and they would either be with him in his realm or he'd be in a great position to go free them.
Bonus points if the King in Yellow is actually Dorn and he, Valdur and some of the lost Primarchs have been holed up preparing to come off the top rope and deal with Abbadon and thr Maledictum

My money is Fulgrim would be next to complete the Chaos Pantheon with Slaneesh being represented by the Emperor's Children
After that I personally would want to see the Khan come back since the lore is leaning towards Abaddon and Vashtorr heading to the webway, but it is more likely that Leman Russ would be the next loyalist Primarch since the Space Wolves are their own subfaction

GW’s modus operandi is to focus on the big 4 chaos legions and the big 4 divergent chapters.
Fulgrim, Russ, Sanguinius and Dorn will be next it’s just the trend they are following but not necessarily in that order

I think it would be cool if Fulgrim returned at the start of an addition and as an endcap Ferrus Manus returned as a weird cyborg thing. Like he was beheaded so maybe have it where Admech kept his severed head "alive" but it could do nothing for the last 10k years but now he gets to pilot a primarch level dreadnaught or something cool. Plus it would get more people to play Iron Hands.
