A third possibility, if not ballad of the windfish or song of storms, it sounds a heck of a lot like Epona's song.
It is Epona's song, same notes.
It sounded exactly like Epona's Song. I don't know how they heard those other two. Both of them went up the scale, not down like Link's humming did.

For sure, it goes from high to low, where as the other 2 go from low to high... its a big difference...
Its epona's song however i did find that he hums ballad of the wind fish
I like how the developers give Link a bit more personality. The humming means a lot.
I found out that non-english versions of the game botw/totk, Link's quest logs are written in first person.

I've barely scraped the surface of the story in TOTK (so pls no spoilers) though I'm flipping between "this is the same zelda and link from botw" and "these two are reincarnations" since the game seems set anywhere from a few years to a century after botw. Definitely seems closer to a century, though considering the existence of other Hylian npcs maybe they just have long lifespans? Would check out with the elf ears thing

Since every game prior BOTW is considered to be the Era of Myth, it’s quite possible that older melodies are fairytale songs Hylian children are taught. We know that this Link has a father in the Royal Guard, who probably kept the traditions alive with his child. (Headcanon at least)

I was gonna say, that is definitely not Ballad of the Windfish. Whem they overlayed the Ballad, it was obvious that the notes of what he was humming were stepping down in pitch while the Ballad was stepping up in pitch. They had the same problem with trying to overlay it over the sSng of Storms.
And yeah, they do also have Ballad of the Windfish

The ballad of the champions always just gets me. I'd I were in Link's position, I'd be too broken to save hyrule. All my friends are gone. Everyone I know is either old, dead or became a child again. I don't want to lose anyone I care about. And Link had it so rough.
Well if you were in Links position you would be like “who tf are you?” And “alright I guess I have to save hyrule”

In ToTK, he had hope that his (hinted at) girlfriend was still alive. And also he couldn’t just let the world’s biggest evil who took her away from him indirectly get away with that.

The hum at 1:37 is Epona's song, but the Ballad of the Wind fish does exsist as a hum! It seems some hums are missing here so I hope you make another vid, I adore how you put this together :D

This makes me want to believe that these are all legendary tunes that Kass learned while exploring the land. Maybe even more of the classics like Windwaker’s theme could be some that he learned. And between BotW and TotK, both Link and Kass hung out from time to time and started playing music together.

Yeah there’s a quest called “the song of storms.” Not exactly the same tune, nor enough syllables for the song but hey, who knows

It is sorta similar to a certain part of Midna’s Lament though. That’s always been one cool/interesting thing about Zelda music. All songs tend to play off of each other and feel like they all belong together is a big continuous song

Yeah, I just re-watched a video of Link learning Epona's Song in OoT, and that's definitely it. He hums the exact notes from the Ocarina pattern. (In fact, now that humming's always going to sound like "up-left-right, up-left-right" whenever I hear it. 😖)

Since the Champions of Hyrule are alive in the AoC alternate timeline, will Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa become Sages in facing the Demon King Ganondorf?
Since the AOC timeline has the botw championship also arriving, three of which are sages, the AOC demon king will have a tougher challenge. Perhaps even the upheaval can be prevented if more than just link and zelda venture down. Slay the dry corpse before Rauru's Arm falls.

I like to think the songs with the most significance to him have been engrained into his very spirit. And that's why he hums them, he is subconsciously remembering his past lives. Thats just my headcanon tho

Honestly I love all of the music references so much. I get so excited when I hear them, I’ll be screaming or even crying. It could just be a few notes that make me excited like whenever they add Zelda’s lullaby to a track or whenever I hear notes from Fi’s theme in the background. I was so happy when I heard Link humming these songs, it’s such a sweet detail!!

1:32 is definitely Lon Lon Ranch/Epona's theme, and while midna's lament 2:39 technically isnt wrong, the part from the lament you're highlighting is the motif for the the entire game (twilight princess). While midna's lament is most fitting for a "theme of the twilight princess," the fact that OoT's hyrule theme field is included in Link's humming, and the motif's presence in the Hyrule Field theme for TP would have led me to call it the "TP hyrule field theme" or something like that.
Great work on the video though, and great call with OoT Hyrule Field. I never considered it being that song when playing the game.

Humming at balland of windfish part is def. Song of storms, because the hum is different in Eventide Island, which is based on Links Awakening, and Humming there sounds more familiar to the ballad.
