+Jim Rafferty. Dude, that was my instantaneous critique of this video. It's a private, non-sectarian university, but its enrollment is massive. The problem is that it can become a deceiving oxymoron when you have those two words describing the university.
Newhouse was not a school when Dick Clark attended Syracuse University. He graduated in 1951 from the College of Visual and Performing Arts and Newhouse was founded in 1964.
Actually the weather does hold the students from having a good time. So when the weather does break, maybe, before the end of 2nd semester, sometime in April, the students bust out and go a bit nuts.
Did you attend Syracuse? How bad is the weather. I read comments on niche.com and students said it's almost always cloudy and extremely cold. Did this weather bother you?
@@imanihayes470 If weather is a big concerning point for you, I would stay away. The summer gets more and more milder, and the winter gets worse. I think in 2017 or 2016, we only had 1 week of weather that was 80 degrees or above, 1 week!
Back in the 70's Syracuse was a lot better than the place I transferred out of (Stevens Tech). Got my BSEE in 1978 and drank lots of beer (back then 18 was legal drinkin' age).
im from the UK and will next year have to choose from a list of US colleges to study abroad at for a year, and your series is sooo helpful!! ive got to choose from University of Maryland University of Massachusetts Arizona State University University of New Jersey University of North Carolina University of Tennesse and theres another one near Chicago as well as Stony Brook PLEASE do videos on those!!!
Go to U of Maryland or UNC. Those are good schools, better than the others, UNC is actually in the top 30 I think. Also there is no University of New Jersey. I live in NJ. You're probably thinking of Rutgers or maybe TCNJ.
Tennessee is large and southern, Arizona not all that academic but looks nothing like a place In UK climate wise and is massive party school, unc and Maryland and large and fairly academic 👍🏼
He missed the important point that enduring No 1 Public administration school in America is in Syracuse. It’s Maxwell school of Syracuse University according to the ranking of University in USA by U.S. News.
@1:30: "if you were looking at, in business, you think of Wharton, for business, uh, you think of Newhouse when you think of communications". Hahaha, oh the ironicalness!
Uh, yeah... That area of New York has arguably the most lengthy, snowy and cold winters (and starting into the Fall) in the entire United States. When I lived there snow - when compacted - can almost reach the size of your house and you can experienced sustained negative degree whether. I've experienced -34° weather before, which is probably hazardous.
i don't get it, I don't want to sound mean or anything but WHERE THE HELL ARE THE NEW VIDEOS????????????, look I know that on your instagram you posted new pics of colleges and universities and we are dying for the next installment of your videos. Don't just post pictures but please for us, for the College life fans, we want to see videos because we believe in you and this channel. Please post more please Jesse please!!!!!! EVERYONE LIKE THIS SO JESSE CAN SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Syracuse University is NOT small either physically or in terms of population. The remarks about its size make me question everything in this video. Additionally, the lack of Black, Asian, LGBT and other minorities in the video is deeply troubling. I am deeply disturbed by the use of the term “jap” (Jewish American princess) along with a depiction. Are we supposed to ignore the blatant anti-semitism? While Syracuse has long been considered a party school, there is no mention of the great number of students whose emphasis is academic. The statements about the importance of fraternity/sorority life are misleading because the vast majority of students choose not to participate in greek organizations. The overall sense of this video is that SU is a white, preppy, bigoted institution where partying is the main activity. Of course, Syracuse is located in the snow belt so winters are snowy. Is the cold unbearable? Of course not, or there would not be the high demand to attend nor the high degree of participation in winter sports and activities. Syracuse is an excellent school and I am proud to have earned both a B.Mus and M.Mus degree from it. Is it a perfect institution? No, but it is far more than what is presented in this video.
Been in cuse all my life, can say I'd rather not be here. The weather is fine for me as I don't mind cold and despise heat but the atmosphere is not as fun as this video says. There's entire sections of the city that are decaying with no sign of rebuilding, many people are shot, stabbed, kidnapped, ran over, poisoned, etc. The numbers seem to climb higher everyday. With 3 or more dying a day it seems. Jobs are hard to get and keep due to overly high standards vs what is reasonable. Overall feels like bad luck and a massive chunk of the population is in depression and gave up fighting it long ago. I know over 500 people personally are in depression due to their friends, brothers, and love interests being killed frequently and their life seems to crumble as when one bad thing happens, a barrage of them follow soon after. If you don't live here, I highly recommend you stay away. Don't come here unless it's simply a visit or tourist moment but don't live here. I wish I could leave it but I don't have enough money yet. It wasn't always a dreadful experience but the city went downhill over the last 10-12 years and it's become unbearable. 3/10 experience in my opinion.
Don't accuse syracuse!!! It's a charter school just like austin tx. And all the kids having parties is like modern day woodstock. I wonder, can people who are not students of su hang out in their friend's dorm rooms and have parties and drinks like the other students?
I'm kinda of obsessed with this channel right now
same
Tbh as soon as you played jcole instrumentals i was hooked
Great clip, but sorry it's not a "small" private school...

@@DoloAlmighty ASU has about 60-70 thousand students. Syracuse is a mid size school id say.
@@luisku1407 I would say mid-sized
Syracuse University is not midsized @ all
I'm applying to Syracuse and I'm legit terrified of those winters (I'm used to tropical weather all year round)
Dont worry one should enjoy everything. You are not being sent to Antarctica.
Ella Turton I'm from Syracuse and I swear it's not that bad. Just get a good jacket and some non-slip shoes and you'll be fine haha
Although Syracuse is no Ohio State in terms of size/population, it is NOT a "small" school.
+fromnytomd But it does have a big tuition bill.
Yes, it definitely does!!
Never thought of Syracuse being a "small" school...
The only thing colder and more painful than their winters is the tuition.
Weston Sharpensteen Unless your there on a full ride?
Give Biden a call, aka....Cash for College Kids:-)
50k a year…. No thanks

SU '69, trust me nothing has changed in 50 years except tuition, some of the best years of my life. Party on Cuse!!
Bob Costas did not actually a Newhouse student - graduated from the college of fine arts. I found that out when I went on a tour of SU.
15,000 isnt small haha
yes it is
A couple of years ago, I had lunch at Phoebe's. My waitress had graduated SU's Newhouse a couple of years before. Yup. True.
I believe it. And what kind of a student loan did she have?
CUSE by no means is a small school. Its a billion dollar school in endowments. I wish it reaches 2 bill mark soon.
