Can u get more into tuition? 1. Do you think it’s worth it? 2. Are the scholarships actually helpful and a good amount? 3. What about the amount of money needed on hand for Canopus spending ex: food, shopping etc. Great video btw!
In all honesty, I'm not too clear about tuition but to answer your questions, 1. Cuse has a lot of programs with good reputations. I hear the alumni do great for the most part so if you believe and feel like you're making the most out of it, I say it's worth it. 2. All scholarships will be different but you can always apply for additional scholarships outside of the school, it'll take time but even the smallest amount of extra money will be helpful. 3. Campus spending with food will depend on how much one would eat, the meal plan first year students are required to take will come with a certain amount of money that can be used on campus stores for food and is rechargeable. Assuming you mean shopping as in supplies for classes, it'll depend on what you're studying. Some classes you'll spend little to nothing while others may require a bit of shopping. I don't know if that was helpful or not but if you would like to me go deeper into anything or if you have any additional questions let me know!
0:47 I'm a native Syracuse man and I will say, this is a legit thing. This doesn't mean it's only like this in the school, it's everywhere around here. Literally everyone goes crazy over Syracuse sports but mainly basketball.
What are the best activities to do on campus? Every time I mention about Syracuse, people always say that it’s cold, depressing, nothing to do there, etc.
I'm not sure about what there is to do with covid but back when I was on campus there were Orange After Dark events. Other than that, socializing with people, UU related events, etc were/was a thing. True it can be kinda "empty" and definitely cold but we made most out of what we had lol
I’m absolutely in love with Syracuse University but the only thing that worries me is the weather, especially as someone with seasonal depression. Is it really as bad as people say it is?
Kazmiera Hammond There are definitely times where people struggle with the weather and it can be difficult. Cold moody times appear quite often and linger around for quite some time. With that said, I’m confident enough to say that there are plenty of ways to make the most out of the weather to feel better! A lot is possible when you get creative.
NY weather is pretty bad in the winter. It's dark hella early and it's always cold. Surround yourself with friends and stay in contact with your family and it won't be as bad.
I went to SU...undergrad and grad school. It needs less sports and more serious academics! Party school is no joke. It is ridiculous! The Mount! All concrete block living! You couldn’t force me to live there! They used to have cottages. Actual houses. Loved those. Some of the majors were great! Newhouse Grad school is the tops. Good law school, but too many majors that are too easy. More money for academics, less for SPORTS!!!
currently a HS senior in Cali, got accepted recently. Im used to living in a city (San Diego) so I do enjoy going out and eating good food LOL I was wondering if there are a lot of things to do outside school. Or good food around the area.
Commuting is always an option if the school is near by! With that said, there are cases where students will live in dorms despite their homes being near by so that's also a possible option.
It’s always possible to dorm one year in order to make friends and immerse yourself in the school then commute the rest of your time there, but I get why you wouldn’t want to commute.
Thanks for making this video, it was really helpful! I wanted to know if there is a lot to do around campus, and is there somewhat of a downtown area? Also do people drive or use public transportation, or just walk everywhere?
There are a variety of activities and events happening on campus for sure. There indeed is a downtown area near SU. For most school related stuff it’s mostly walking but for downtown or malls you’ll need some sort of transportation. Students who commute will tend to drive to campus, it all depends on the living situations of the individual
I got a 1250 on my SAT and I was wondering if you think I would get in. I’m from Georgia and was wondering if you know of people who have that score or somewhere around it! Thanks!
It depends on what major you’re going for but I have seen people with similar SAT scores who got in. The school does look for extra/unique things from student applications so if you don’t feel too strong about your SAT score, other aspects such as essays and extracurricular activities should be really helpful
This is a little late but I applied with an 1150 and got accepted (after being waitlisted). I am terrible at standardized testing but I suppose I got in because of the other parts of my application:)
Madison Dutro I’m a VPA film major. I feel like there’s a balance in enjoyable and “annoying” classes. There were definitely times when mandatory classes turned out to be pretty bad but as long as you find a decent professor you shouldn’t run into too many problems. I only had 2 ish professors so far that were difficult to work with so I guess overall it was a decent experience with classes. Feel free to ask more questions if you have any!
@@AndrewCha Thank you so much! one more question hopefully lol, have you made any connections in the film world through Syracuse? What is your biggest reason for going to Syracuse? One of the biggest reasons I wanna go is because I think it'll be easy after I graduate to get a job through connections. Thanks so much for replying appreciate it!
Madison Dutro if you consider upperclassmen who are going out into the film world then yes. Even outside of the film program you can find connections who offer film/video gigs that help. A lot of people I know got connected with internships as well. There’s plenty of opportunity.
I’m personally use to living in upstate NY after being in Rochester for a handful of years so it’s never been a huge issue for me. Being around campus gives a nice lively vibe but once you begin to go further away you can somewhat notice the “stranded” feeling.
Im thinking of applying to SU and I'm curious as to how the study abroad program works. Is it an easy process? Can I study abroad by sophomore year? Is it more expensive to study abroad?
Campus food isn’t terrible but can get extremely repetitive if you just stick with dining hall food. Overall the food is alright, I believe I haven’t seen/heard of many if not any cases of food poisoning(that I know of) so I think that shouldn’t be too much of a concern.
I got accepted for grad school there and am trying decide whether I should go there or Berkeley. How is the winter (where I live it’s about 70 year round)? What winter clothes should I bring? And is it safe? In terms of diversity, how is it?
In terms of winter clothes, having a solid thick jacket/coat is going to be very helpful. Layering helps a lot too. The cold is arguably bearable but the snow gets thicc real quick so boots are a must for most people. In terms of safety(weather wise) I feel like they do a good job of keeping the streets clear. For diversity, I personally found myself around people of many backgrounds. It really depends on who you meet in person.
@@EnchantedMystery1 go to Berkeley. I’m at cuse too Berkeley is overall a better school. I study architecture here but would rather be somewhere else if it wasn’t for rankings.
