    Hi Fish Dad,
    Thanks.
I'm struggling with green hair algae on the rocks.
Although sump, big skimmer and all...
I wonder how you keep it clean in the long run.
    Tx for help.

Hey Dan, what's your lighting setup for your tank? I keep my algae down by keeping small lights/ low light on my tank. Fish only tanks don't need much light, unless yours is a reef tank. Then you might need more clean up crew. Turbo snails, urchins, etc. I can't have those things in this tank, but my tang and angel eats most of any algae that grows in here. Let me know more about your setup and I can help more. Thanks for commenting.

@FishDad22 Hey FishDad, yeah, well you have a point. I run shoplights (2x round 8 inches diameter 50W white leds) but I put them quite high, like 2 feet above the tank hanged from the ceiling. I cannot adjust them... I have now reduced the time to 2h a day but I was running them 8h... It's a 200g 6feet long fowlr. 2 tangs, 8 anthias, 8 chromis, foxface. I feed 1 turn of pellets/day ocean nutrition in the evening. Filter floss, skimmer deltec 2060 (normally for bigger tanks). nothing else. water change 1x /month : 20%. 2 SOW 15 jebao for wavemakers. the rocks are porous, i think they absorb po4 until saturation then the algae comes. I have no clean up crew as I m planning like you for bigger fish (if I get it under control first...). So I clean by hand with a brush but the algae comes back.

@@Dantube321ok sounds like you have a great setup. I think the only solution for long term would be to ditch the shop lights. You need to find some different less powerful lights. I like Kessil and Ai but there is also cheaper brands like Finnex, nicrew etc. Those shop lights are heavy white and will cause you nothing but headaches. Good luck

@@FishDad22 thanks for your inputs !, it's reassuring. I think you are fully correct. I am now reviewing your setups videos and they are of great help ! I think I'll go for something like the Finnex. they are more widespread, less focussed and not too expensive. Really enjoy your "keep it simple" approach, so rare. My congratulations for the high achievement of maintaining such beautiful, difficult and very territorial fishes together... you know what I mean... 👌👍

@@Dantube321 thanks man! The lights make a huge difference as does using RODI water and keeping your filter tip top. I hope it works out for you

Do you think you’re going to have to get a larger tank for them in the future?

Yeah possibly or I'll have to rehome some of them. At least the eel is max size. Only time will tell for sure.
