    Well. In tangled the series it’s revealed that Rapunzel’s dad literally knowingly released evil darkness upon the world and had his kingdom slowly destroyed because he didn’t want his daughter leaving him.

      And we shouldn't forget that Gothel stabbed Eugene in front of her eyes, and he would have died if Rapunzel hadn't cried magic tears.

      @@Furienna Nope, not forgetting. In fact, that's exactly part of the whole gaslighting piece. Trying to force Repunzel to choose. And choose Repunzel did. With a great deal of mental anguish.

    The story of Barbara is horrifying. I hate how her own father would have her killed and cut his own daughter’s head off. If I were Barbara being burned and having my skin and head cut off alive, I would have been so horrified and traumatized and scared

    The good question is is where does Rapunzel‘s magical hair fit in in the story because in the brothers grim version of tangled her hair was a result of everlasting life and that’s exactly why her father ended up putting her in the tower in the first place was so that he could live forever as a king I’ve read the story hundreds of times and they have many endings and versions of the story in through the years it’s been told differently so nobody really knows what happened so where does her hair her life force in this matter fit in in the story

    Saint Barbara's story may have been an early inspiration for the folktale that the Brothers Grim would collect and publish as "Rapunzel," but I see no resemblance between it and the movie "Tangled" or what I have heard about the series "Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures."

      The title of the video is also very misleading since it suggest that the real villain of the Disney movie would be Rapunzel's father who barely made an appeara,nce.

  • @saphire_makes_art
    @saphire_makes_art ปีที่แล้ว +40

    It’s not really since rapunzles dad didn’t do that in the tangled story, plus mother gothel only kept rapunzel alive because of her magic and she didn’t know what would happen to the magic if rapunzel died obviously. They are just two different types of abusive, mother gothel was using rapunzel for her own gain and constantly gaslit her, the story you’re talking about, Barbra’s father was abusive in a controlling sense aswell but with completely different motives

    • @aspieangel1988
      @aspieangel1988 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes but once Rapunzel was returned home in the series her father tried to keep her under lock and key in her room in a couple episodes. It was Rapunzels mother who loved her. Her father just wanted her magic hair.

    • @saphire_makes_art
      @saphire_makes_art ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aspieangel1988 no? (Going off of Disney cannon) Her father kept her locked up because he was afraid another person would come and kidnap her, her mother loved her and so did her father, her father was still very happy she returned even when she returned without her hair, because her hair obly came back later on and that’s when he thought someone would come and try to take her away again which is understandable, plus he changed his behavior later on, mother gothel never did

    Lol no. The dad was the villain in that “origin story” you told, but that story has nothing to do with the specific story told in Tangled. Fredrick isn’t the best dad as we see in the tangled tv show, but he was never the villain and especially not in the movie. And it’s pretty weird that you think he was honestly 🤨

      I mean, he is kinda a villain at some point on the tv show (he decided to pretend the rock wasn't destroying his kingdom and let bad rumors spread on the only one who were trying to do something about the rocks... that's a villain move), but he was not a villain on the movie for sure.

    That would be so terrible to be Barbara. And none of it was even remotely her fault. She didn’t choose to be pretty, or have a psychotic father. She didn’t even choose what religion she wanted to learn to set her free, at least mentally. A random person just put it in a basket! A real father would have saved her, claiming she was clearly brainwashed by the devil that destroyed his statues. I say this only because her father was clearly a monster. 😢

    OUAT did 2 versions of Rapunzel. The first with the black character, locked herself in a tower out of fear of hurting others and the second version was a continuation of Disney’s rapunzels story and they turned her into cinderellas stepmother but she’s different from the original lady tremaine because her daughters were still alive and had no magic. I think that lady tremaine may have been Flynn Ryder’s ex wife 😂 makes sense to me!

    Yeah she had it bad but you misspoke as well. It depends on the telling in some versions teh witch is waiting for Rapunzel to reach age of like 18-20. If you remember in the movie she was always saying sing for me and let me bush your hair. I don't know if Rapunzel knew that it was keeping the witch young when she did that she knew she could heal wound since she healed Flynn's hand. She just knew it was magic. And in the ture telling Rapunzel wasn't even royalty at all. She was the first born daughter of a young married couple who lived behind the witch. tehy actual story is different at the beginning and after she leaves the tower.
