I don’t get, why StarmieEX isn’t in A tier. It’s basically a Pikachu, with no retreat cost and without the need to stack the bench with Pokémon of one type. The only downside is, that it is a stage 1 Pokemon, which in my opinion is a good trade off. Honestly, I won games single-handedly with only Starmie.
I think for most people that dont put it that high, its because it doesnt really have a good deck it works in. In theory and in a vacuum its really strong, in practice it just hasnt delivered on that potential at all
The problem with Starmie is exactly that, it’s a Stage 1 and inconsistent. If both copies are in the bottom half of your deck it’s useless. Not to mention you have to risk getting a point taken by having to play a 50 hp staryu
Exeggutor in B tier is crazy work. It's S tier. Can rip 80 damage and end games on t2 going first if your opponent doesn't have a bench or didn't draw another starter. Also allows back line to be built since it only takes 1 energy to attack. It has 160 health so it can live mewtwo attacks and can heal w erika. It's the strongest combo of speed/power for ex pokemon in the game. The Erika support just makes it sooooo strong.

Having a variety of the same pokemon but with different abilities can make it unpredictable on what some pokemon can evolve to what potential damage. Luckily there arnt that many yet but soon those type of pokemon would technically have an indirect buff of unpredictability.
I would move Arcanine to high A tier, because it has a really good breakpoints, 120 lets you OHKO pika and celebi also most non ex pokemon, adding a Gio lets you take out starmies, mew's zapdos etc and with moltres it can be set up really fast. I would move Exeggutor to S tier because its just so tanky especially with erikas and hit really hard really fast, I feel Exeggutor is an S tier card that needs a better grass pairing than celebi/venu to get a proper T1/s tier deck. Starmie i feel belongs in A tier, it has the hardest hitting 2 energy attack alongside pika, only thing holding it back from S is pika decks and it being stage 1. i mostly agree with the rest of the list just felt that those pokemon were the furthest from where they should be.

The problem with Gengar is that, unless you draw the full evolution line in your first couple turns, he takes too long to set up to make use of his ability a lot of the time. Then, when you finally set up him, he only does 100 damage (which isn't enough to OHKO the bigger threats in the game). So, he either needs a damage boost to like 120 or his ability needs to affect items too. At least now, he would have sweeping potential OR his ability will be able to counter late-game item use as well.
It's really strong against decks that like to use Sabrina, Giovanni, Erika, Blue, and Leaf at opportune moments but absolutely fails against decks that generate energy fast. Aggressive rush decks are also discouraging, and at that point it isn't a matter of skill as much as it is who's luckier with drawing cards. In the future, if we're given more utility Trainer cards and discouraged from including Red Card, the more longevity Gengar decks have, imo.
Agreed completely! Pidgeot eats Pikachu & Celebi for breakfast. If built right and you know how to pilot the matchups, it can 100% keep up with the best decks right now. The only thing that hurts it is that it’s a Stage 2 line. If your deck bricks, it’s not a fun time 😅
@Archangel125 only psychic. I found running 2 druddigon would mess up my board. Might as well invest in mew instead in early game. Also with 2 buddings
i think running Fire and Water energy is better than running only Psychic energy especially with the Set up Meta. Putting pressure with Drud able to attack helps a lot than only Mew with 20 damage.
Totally agree. Pidgeot/Druddigon is one of my favorite decks to run. It’s solid against most matchups and most people do slip up at least in my experience, as I feel like they usually expect vanilla Pidgeot’s free Sabrina shenanigans rather than the straight up damage from the EX. Adding Mew EX definitely sounds fun so I’ll have to give that a go too!
just played 3 games of a proper charizard EX deck and didn't even get to evolve to charizard once. Maybe just bad luck but it takes so long to build charizard up, you're already dead to the aggressive meta of early damage decks and misty decks.
Wigglytuff is B minimum, potentially A. Every time you build up a Mew with 3 energy, realize that Wigglytuff EX would have fared better against anything that's not Mewtwo. Getting even one sleep off is brutal.
Egg EX in A. God send for grass decks. Starmie Ex also in A. Super fast and cheap. Wiggly EX in B. The potential sleep is crazy. Pidgeot EX and Arcanine EX also in B.
My Blastoise EX deck is one of the most consistent of all my decks. 2 blastoise EX lines + farfetched + kangaskhan. Once you get 5 energy on an EX it’s gg just gotta stall well
I think the Pidgeot is a bit too harsh. Some decks just don't want to have a minimal bench, some can't afford to have one, and if they are gimping themselves by not playing a bench then that still benefits the Pidgeot player.
I have to say, I will do a deck with 1 char ex 2 exegg ex and 2 mew ex, 1 fire on exeggcute to get grass, then retreat, and evolve, mew good for not having to evolve, charizard for the powerhouse. add a moltres ex if you want.

Putting Marrowack as third worst EX is crazy, 2 energy for the chance to do 160 dmg. To Take out a MewTwo, while only being 1 evo card AND is very unlikely to be weak to their type, while fighting is good against many.
Wish I got a single gyarados from the heaps of packs I opened I get everything but gyarados I even got like 2 full art aerodactyl and 2 regular ex cards of aerodactyl Same for celebi too but not a single gyarados ex 🤦♂️ only card I am missing and I also want to make a gyarados deck too

blastoise is good if its 2 blastoise ex and only that +chatot and fossils and maybe druddigon for walling while you build. Venusaur great with butterfree
Only 2 types really can down Magikarp consistently, bring Electric (through Zebstrika or Electabuzz, pick your poison) or Fighting through Hitmonlee. However, Fighting is already like a tier 2 archetype, so really we're talking mostly Electric here.
Agree with most of it but... - Lapras Ex (D Tier) - Starmie (Higher Up on B) - Gyarados (A Tier as it needs Drudd or Vaporeon to work) - Mew (A Tier since Yes it can steal High Attacks like Mewtwo but sometimes it steals Lower Attacks too) - Pidgeot (I think C is fair but i'm seeing more Pidgeot decks currently so i feel it could be higher above Machamp) I think Blastoise placement is fair as Gyarados is clearly better

Starmie EX is S tier for me. Comparing to Pikachu it has 10 more hp and doesn't need full bench to hit 90 for 2 mana. Also free retreat cost and with Misty it can attack on turn 2. There is no EX card that causes more fear in me than this starfish. Exeggutor and Articuno are A tier for me. Exeggutor is really scary - 1 mana hitting for 40-80 and 160 hp, bro. Articuno is the only card in the game that can be used in deck with no other Pokemon - that makes me feel like it deserves really low tier A. I more or less agree with the rest.

Gengar in D is an "interesting" opinion. Before the addition of mythical slab he was pretty dogshit and took way too long to set up. Plus he only really shut down misty and he shut down grass decks pretty well and that was about it. Gengar now? Mythical slab carries him so hard to victory and he actually becomes consistent. With the addition of budding expeditioner stalls and leaf and a bunch of other supporter cards that are meta as shit Gengar is crazily good now.
Undervaluing exeguttor, starmie, and arcanine. They should all be up one rank. I would say even moltres. Also if you're going to put mewtwo in S tier because it works with gardevoir, then charizard belongs in S tier too thanks to moltres
I'd say Mewtwo benefits more from Gardevoir than Charizard does Moltres because Gardevoir works from the back row. Moltres can't keep Charizard going for multiple Crimson Storms, but Gardevoir makes Psydrive spammable.

magikarp user has to put down both the fishes one turn before evolving or blue.. aerodactyl on its own is not a good card tbh, because fossil is not a basic it can't shows up on your hand on first turn, and cant be searched with pokeball.. dmg is abyssmal as ex mon,, even starmie has 0 retreat cost.. but it do really well as finisher with lee and marshadow .. maybe the idea is, golem line is takes too much space

I agree. I'd even go do far as to say Lapras is the worst ex in the game. At least Gengar has high health, a gimmicky ability, and not needing Gardevoir to distinguish itself from Mewtwo (even if Mewtwo is CLEARLY better lol, none of that makes Gengar worth using). I can't think of any reason to run Lapras over any of the other Water exs. Like, for quick comparison, Articuno is a similar in that it's an ex basic Water type, but Articuno does spread damage instead of health drain (which I would say is generally better) and has Ice Wing to use before it gets up to 3 energy.

Rng cards are something that can either reward you greatly or punish you very bad. This inconsistency what makes these cards go lower tier.

aerodactyl on its own is not a good card tbh, because fossil is not a basic it can't shows up on your hand on first turn, and cant be searched with pokeball.. dmg is abyssmal as ex mon,, even starmie has 0 retreat cost.. but it do really well as finisher with lee and marshadow .. maybe the idea is, golem line is takes too much space

Makes it really inconvenient for your opponent’s active pokemon development while it still hits for 80 for 2 energy and a single retreat cost. Never said it was exceptional or S class, just that it needs more credit than this dude is giving him
The mew take is really bad its hp is too low and with it can be killed by any pokemon with high hp and attack more than 130

I agree. I'd even go do far as to say Lapras is the worst ex in the game.
At least Gengar has high health, a gimmicky ability, and not needing Gardevoir to distinguish itself from Mewtwo (even if Mewtwo is CLEARLY better lol, none of that makes Gengar worth using). I can't think of any reason to run Lapras over any of the other Water exs.
Like, for quick comparison, Articuno is a similar in that it's an ex basic Water type, but Articuno does spread damage instead of health drain (which I would say is generally better) and has Ice Wing to use before it gets up to 3 energy.
