1993 Jordan was the peak of his prime, the GOAT of prime days of all basketball players.
Lots of injuries this season though.. He wasn't 100% so to speak

That dunk @ Charlotte when he palmed the ball, went through the entire lane like the red sea and posterized Alonzo Mourning is ridiculous. Also always loved that dunk in Game 4 of the 93' Finals when he crossed over and dunked in a split second. The crowd went nuts and he just lands and walks to the free throw line like he was supposed to do that.

We got cheated out of 2 years of Prime Mike, when he played baseball........he was 31 and 32 those years. When he was 29/30 in 1993, he was still a great dunker, still drove to the hoop a lot.
The dunk over Alonzo Mourning has got to be his best dunk of the season. One of the greatest facials of all time.

Other than the ones mentioned, that baseline reverse dunk on Manute Bol @ 4:30, the one on Ronny Sikale @ 5:50, and that lefty Jam on the Lakers with the rim pop @ 7:00 are pretty nice.

He seemed frequently uninspired to dunk in 1993. Mourning got him excited, dunked on him like 6 times!
He was conserving energy this year more than most. 92 championship, 92 summer Olympics, wisdom played a major role in his success. Had to reserve some gas in the tank for another championship playoff run. Played all 82 games. Other than his broken foot year, did he ever miss a game? If he did, I don't recall.
Not like this rest management era we find ourselves in nowadays. When star players get tired now & can't be botherd to play back-to-back nights cuz they are tired, now they just sit don't even suit up. Bunch of bs if you ask me.

It was the right wrist injury and wear and tear on his knees, that's why his dunks were conservative. That's why when people say Jordan was "in his prime" in 1993 its' really not true.

Compare his hops in 97 vs 98 season or his movements. Okay, for example the time he was crossed by AI in 97 and the way he guarded AI in 98. Or the Ostertag in-your-face dunk. MJ had that extra hop post dunk in 98... Even the number of dunks shown how he was better in 98.

12:17 the two-handed leaner is nice but I feel like this could've been a sweet one-handed power leaner like the one from the 92 Dream Team when Magic kicked it back to him for the jam.
Jordan's right wrist was bothering him all season in 92-93. He dunked with two hands or with his left hand a bit more that season. If you remember, the wrist was bothering MJ so much he actually had to leave the court during the Cavs series in the Eastern semifinals. He may have lost confidence in some of his dunks this season (which is why you see a lot of conservative dunks in this video)

i rem this was the year MJ started slowly transitioning into that "fadeaway MJ" we saw in the late 90s, prob why he only had 96 dunks that year, or maybe some games are missing

So the one you didn't have are:
@ Min in Nov 92 he had 3 dunks...
@ Sea in Nov 92 had 1 two hand dunk that didnt make the game footage becuz they were showing a promo on Sportschannel..and theres no replay...
Home vs Charlotte in Jan 93 ...had at least 1 dunk ...simple 1 hander nothing special...
There's a few more here and there but nothing very memorable lol

Do you know the total number of dunks he had in 92-93? Because I feel like he had less dunks this season than other years. Or maybe it was because a lot of them were conservative dunks.
@@turtleislandlac1490 according to my count MJ had about 96 regular season dunks. I compiled a list of all that I've seen. There's alot of dunks that aren't ever shown in highlight videos because of how unremarkable they are...although any MJ dunk to me is a piece of HISTORY!

An astute observation. The bulls definitely coasted through the regular season.
Yeah, still plenty of in your face jams,, But particularly on the fast breaks there was quite a few more than usual energy conserving dunks.
But that 3rd championship season started off a little rough as I recall,, took them a little longer to get rolling. Phoenix Suns had the best record that year and home court advantage to start the finals. Didn't matter of course. Jordan played out of his mind all year anyway.

Some days he seemed like he didn’t want to dunk at all. But some days he was on fire
blame it on 1992 summer olympics. MJs hops needed off-season rest after 1991 june finals and particularly 1992 june finals that were deep (one 7 game series, two 6 games series). 1993 season mj was way too exhausted and fatigued physically and mentally.

I feel that Jordan lacked passion in the 93 season. Compared with all your 95-98 dunk highlights, 93 Jordan's perception is not as good as 96 Jordan's desire to dunk, and even not as energetic as the 95 season.
In the second half of the 93 highlights, you can vaguely see his signature moves.
There are some differences between his performance in the 1992 Olympics, and he looks unhappy.

If you analyze Jordan videos closely, you can see him lose a step in 1991. It's so subtle, but it's there. There is a hint of quickness and burst lost. By 1993, it's very evident. Of course, he was so far ahead of everyone, that it didn't really matter. He was still destroying people. But it's definitely there in 1993.
Naw 1991 was probably the last year he had the same motor from the 80s 1991 was probably he true peak age 28 92 and 93 you BBC an see he gain a bit of muscle mass about 10 pounds his body was more nba ideal by 1993 compared to his skinny days 87-89
I disagree, athletically most people peak by 26 and sustain it going into their mid 30’s. He was intentionally slowing his game down and taking what the defense gave him by the 90’s rather than forcing plays with his athleticism.

Or heck, even compared Jordan highlights? He wasn't anywhere close to the same athlete when he was wearing 45, let alone during the second three-peat. The man alluded to this himself several times. He had to re-learn how to play, which is a testament to his greatness, in order to dominate. He was not pacing himself in 1993. He was adjusting his game to compensate for his decline in explosiveness.

Honestly this was one of his weaker years for dunks. A lot of these are conservative or safe.
They don't have the hang time or were not as bold as some of his other dunks in other years. That's why I think he wasn't really in his athletic prime in 92-93, his game was already evolving into what we would see in the last three peat; more jumpshots, less gravity-defying plays.

He definitely seemed to be declining a little athletically ...he had turned 30 that season and he was worn down physically after the long 92 playoffs then right into the Olympics. He had to be exhausted. But he also was at his mental peak...knowing how to turn it on and off when needed...and thankfully he still had enough left in the tank for showtime slam or two...or jump over somebody lol!
89-90 was his athletic peak.

There was at least 10 regular season games I couldn’t get
He wasn't really in his athletic prime anymore in this season (age 30) If you notice a lot of these dunks lacked elevation. He went to the jumpshot a lot in this season.
You're mistaking prime MJ with peak athleticism MJ. Prime MJ wasn't dunking at the same rate as young MJ of the 80s
