I use those COSRX pimple patches and they are BOMB!!!!!! I get those like a big painful pimple at a time so these things are amazing cuz they come in different pimple sizes, protects u from scratching it on accident (like I do, OUCH!), and it really does make the swelling go down!! I even wear them at work to cover the redness of a pimple as well!! AMAZING! I LOVE YOU JAMES!!! ❤️
"We are worth the investment we are putting into our skin, not because we want to make ourselves look perfect but because we deserve the time we put into ourselves." This needs to be said more.
This is so responsible. It’s easy to be interested in skincare and feel like you need 100 more products than you actually need! Especially younger viewers. It’d be a great to have a similar video where you say which products are worth spending more money on.
Yes so true. Skincare has become so popular recently that brands are pumping out the products and always trying to come out with the next big thing!! It’s tough to navigate through!
I find this comment so accurate by using the word "Responsible". Being a Dermatology trainee and youtube viewer, I get perplexed at the amount of wrong information given. There's even one TH-camr with no academic training whatsoever uploading videos "specialist react". Misinformation just gets frustrating.
@@JamesWelsh Yes, thanks for getting me hooked on toner as well. I was just using the wrong ones my entire life. The I'm From Rice Toner was my gateway to the world of useful toners.
Olivia Richards Sorry, I’m not James, but I can try to answer this! As James said in the video, if it works for you and your skin is happy with it, keep using it! However, because shea butter is so thick, it’s pretty likely to be comedogenic (something that clogs your pores) and could cause acne. So if you’re struggling with acne or oily skin, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. But like I said before, listen to your skin! You are the expert on your body.
Oh also! I forgot to mention that shea butter can be really helpful when formulated within a facial moisturizer (bc it’s made by people who know what they’re doing and how much to include). Shea butter has soothing and anti-aging properties that can help smooth out the skin. It’s just that when you use pure shea butter, you may have problems with acne.
Has James convinced anyone else to go from essentially zero skincare routine to a structured, regular one during covid? Apparently my skin is punishing me rn for near a decade of neglect 😅
I was always into skincare but James and Hyram have been the most positive influences - better than “influencers” who focus on brand hype or go for the most expensive things. They’ve encouraged me to stay realistic with what I need, less focus on cute packaging, and they’re endlessly helpful for fragrance-free recommendations!
Retinoids are good to use as a teenager/young adult if you have acne. I was using Retin-A and Differin (when it was Rx only) 20 years ago before their anti-aging benefits were well known. Mind you, I am much older now and I barely have wrinkles 😊
Since I have discovered The Welsh Brothers videos I have more knowledge about skincare and makeup and I don't trust any other's advice . Thank you darlings! Much love from Mexico!
Yesterday i tried "basic" 3-step skincare routine and it's just not enough for my dry irritated dehydrated skin. I'm kinda lazy, but i'll do my everyday 7-step routine even if I'm drunk af
You may need to rebuild your skin barrier. I have found Aveeno's extra dry moisturisers (esp the one in the baby aisle as it is super gentle!) And their cica cream really really helpful. That and a hyaluronic acid serum.
That’s what I used to think, i started with a double cleanse Then I used a hyalouronic acid toner with niacinamide serum and azelaic acid from the ordinary and then a moisturizer but I took a month off with only a cleanser and moisturizer and sunscreen maybe an oil and let me tell you my skin changed for the better now I started to add a toner and serum, but maybe you have clear skin and you’re routine works for you but if you don’t give it a try at first my skin was really dry now it’s hydrated on it’s own
I got my 400g cerave moisturizer. Lemme tell you. It saved my dehydrated ass. It is so thick. Last year I suffered breakouts and acne when I was in Switzerland for the first time. This year. I am saved.
Oh no! You are not alone! 😏😢 As I was very young I didn't know, how many Lies and Cheater are all around in the Business, specially in the Beauty-Industry! And my Parents have always said to me, that to Lie is only a Sign of Stupidness, Cowardice and a very bad Humanity, which only very bad People are doing! So....I didn't believe as a young Girl, that there are so MANY bad stupid People are around us! But I've learned very fast, and this was not a nice "Education" I have had! And such Expieriences hurt a Lot! But otherwise I've learned to become NEVER like this! 😍🍀👍😉
P.S.: dear James... I think, you have a amazing, beautiful Skin! 😍👍 When you are talking about Redness and something like this in your Skin....I never can see anything!? What's up? Is it the Screen, the Monitor, my Displays, your Camera - our what? Or is it only your own "Imagine"? 😀😊 IF ( IF.!) you have a little "smooth light Rose Glow" in your Face - it looks always so healthy and nice to me! Maybe your own - or my own - Sight is very different! 👍😉💓 Best Wishes and stay healthy! And always thanks for your good Informations! 💞👍🍀
James talks about using retinol when we're in our late 20s, I'm 24 but I use it for my acne and acne scarring. I've seen people say "you're too young to use retinol" but people always forget acne.
What initially drawn me to James’s channel, besides that colloidal oatmeal of a voice, was his love of toners! I’m always on the hunt for a good one, as this product is essential in my routine, on a par with moisturizers. A lot of people say it’s completely unnecessary, but unless I use it, it’s like everything else that comes afterwards in my routine stops working. I loved this video as I think it emphasized the fact that there are no one-size-fits-all magic solutions in skincare and that all we can do is try to be informed and figure out what your skin enjoys. And if that sheet mask makes you feel pampered or if that spray of mist makes you feel fancy, go for it! As much as the whole skincare world seems superficial and shallow to many people, there are some universal truths that can be extrapolated from our skincare routines, everyone is unique and everyone deserves care and pampering! Thanks for another fun video, James! 💞
I am very glad that you vocalized something that I always ask myself due to self-image issues. Thank you for saying that we are worth the investment in our skin. It may seem so simple or silly to some, but it gives me a warm feeling in my heart. Thank you.
I started the highest strength of prescription retinol at the age of 14 and I’m so grateful. I’m now 30 without a single wrinkle and most people still think I’m under the age of 18 without makeup and with makeup they usually guess 21 or 22 and I really think it’s because I started using retinol at a very young age. But definitely consult a doctor first like I did.
I’m so glad that you came out with a video about the ‘non essentials’ of skincare!! 😫I have had acne for the past 5 years and recently I ONLY used 2 skincare products that I found thanks to you and Leah Yoo and my skins clearing up 🌝 ...also the white shirt looks great on you 😄
@@annarose8253 sunscreen is not an option... Neither is cleanser or moisturizer... James also said that the 3 essential skincare products are a cleanser, a moisturizer and a sunscreen so... What's your point? Everyone needs to cleanse their face. Everyone needs to moisturize their skin to avoid water loss (and aging and other issues). Everyone needs sunscreen in order to be safe from the sun. So, again, what's your point? I wasn't even being mean or mocking the op or anything. You do need 3 skincare products, whatever skin type it is that you have. What's different is the formulation of said products.
@@annarose8253 it's important to notice that what works for you NOW won't work forever and that working for you now doesn't mean that it's the most healthy decision you can be making. Again, OP, I'm glad your skin has cleared up, but please don't forget that you need to be washing your skin, making sure it's properly moisturized and safe from the sun! And please be sure to check a doctor if your acne has been around for too long and is refusing to go away. You might have some skin condition that can only be treated with medicine
Rae For oily-skinned people, a moisturizer with SPF in it can be good enough. Layering different moisturizing products can be a problem if you’re not on the dry side. Also, genetic realities are what they are- some of us have acne for life, and derms can only do so much if that’s the card you were dealt.
We do totally deserve a luxury product every now and then, you’re so right!! I so enjoy listening to you speak, you have an incredibly relaxing voice!!
I like that you show the different phases of your skin. It's not always perfect and that makes it unique, real and credible not like other youtubers or skin gurus out there.
Thank you for your great videos. This one made me tear up (in a good way) when you talked about us deserving the time we put in to self care. I’m in a place in my emotional growth/healing where I’m making a concerted effort into my skin and appearance. So, of course your videos (and Robert’s) came on my radar. I’ve been watching non-stop for the past week. Anyway, thanks!!
I know eye creams are not necessary, but omg I love how they feel. It’s definitely my guilty pleasure. I’m currently loving the Naturium multi-peptide eye cream!
Thanks for all the weekly wisdom-you've helped me understand my own skin so much better! I had a thought that it would be interesting to hear what you have to say about hair issues (oily scalp, limp, dry, tangled, etc.) and choice of shampoo/conditioner/oils/treatment choices. I know you don't tend to do hair but I think something like that would help a lot of people and I'm sure you have a pretty great grasp of your products. I know hairdressers who have helped me with my routine and knowledge but I've noticed often that people will have a rigorous facial regimen but buy $5 shampoo and conditioner. Just an idea! Thanks again.
minimalizing my skincare routine has helped me so much with my acne. I always used a lot of treatments, like daily BHA alongside other actives and my skin was perfectly fine as long as I took the pill. But after I stopped I broke out like crazy (which is perfectly normal for when you stop taking it) but I continued with my routine, not realising that my skin was struggling with all the treatments alongside the acne. Now I think I figured out what helps and my skin is finally getting better (as result of a combination of all the things I do to get better). Now I only have to deal with a few pimples and a ton of hyperpigmentation and scaring 😅 thanks to you and Hyram I reinvented my routine
I just started using a chemical exfoliater TODAY! I’m 46 and late to the game but I look 26 (at least that’s what I’m told). I used a 30%AHA/2%BHA from the Ordinary and oh my, my face feels so smooth. I was using Murad AHA/BHA in the shower a few times a week but my skin never felt like this. I use Kate Somerville peptide serum, Shishedo sunscreen and Tatcha water moisturiser. I stay out of the sun for the most part because of medication that I have to take. I also live in the Pacific NW and most people think that all it does is rain in Seattle (I’m about 45 minutes south). I’m glad that I’ve taken care of my skin. A few years back I took my kids to get frozen yogurt and the young woman that rang us up thought we were a family(my son was 22 and my daughter was 11, which would have made me 44 🥰🤣). I LOVE 💕 YOUR VIDEOS JAMES! Stay safe and keep them coming. 😘🌈🔥🏳️🌈
I'm still waiting for lips products recommendations - blams, mask, ect. It's so hard to understand lips ingredients and what it okay and what is a waste of money
I'm going to be honest with you. No balm or anything formulated for your lips has ever worked for me. They all dry my lips like crazy. What I use? I actually use a eye cream that is super moisturizing. And when I'm out of eye cream I just use my moisturizer and that's it. I don't understand lip balms or lip masks and they don't really work for me so. I'd love to see a video on it as well but ultimately I think that maybe a specific product just for your lips are useless.
My lips are super dry too! And nothing helps, I tried drugstore, more expensive and farmacy lipbalms and as you said, it got even worse. The eyecream idea is really good, bit I'm a little scared maybe because I'm scared that I'll swallow it 😅 but thanks for the idea, maybe I'll try it ❤️
JenluvsReviews has an indepth videos on Lipbalm! Hightly reccomend them- Generally ingredients like shea butter is good for lips. Such as The Vaseline lip therapy with shea butter :^D Edit: here's part 2 of that video series for product recommendations. Jen is a nerdy influencer who loves product reserching; not an expert like an dermatologist; th-cam.com/video/JqUhx027AmQ/w-d-xo.html
OK I've stopped using face wipes and I bought the original set cleanser serum and moisturiser I did by retinol aswell. I have been using them for a week and I've seen major changes in my skin my redness has begun to fade my skin glows. Since I subscribed ive taken your advice and its the best thing I've done for my skin ❤
Hey James! How about creating a vid on how to do skincare for those who work in the night shift (or anyone who sleeps during the day aka us vampires 😂) As you always say, Morning is for protecting the skin and Evening is for healing/repair. Is it the other way around if you sleep during the day and work during the night? I also have a hard time using thicker consistency moisturizers when I sleep because I have to layer it up with a LOT of sunscreen (I would rather DIE than wake up every 2hrs just to reapply sunscreen 😢). The actives tho are kinda easy to follow, I just have to follow your vid about what products you can use during the day/night 🥰 Love your videos and I hope you’re surviving during the hot summertime ✨
I'd say it is the other way around for you, yes 🤔 I'm just curious as to why you're wearing sunscreen to sleep? Do you keep your windows open and let the sun in, is that is? I'd say that's not really necessary. Keep your windows closed and depending on the time of your shift, just enjoy some hours of sun before/after work. You can get the enough amount of daily B12 by spending just 15min outside, btw.
Rae My bed is beside a window and my curtains are those thin ones which doesn’t really cover the sun. I also live in the PH which basically has summer all year long so wearing a sunscreen is sadly a necessity ☹️ The hard part is usually healing/repairing products are on the thicker side which makes it hard to layer with sunscreen.. On the bright side tho, I still sleep really well despite the sun shining brightly on my face 😅
Wow sometimes I take being a freelancer (being able to sleep whenever I want) for granted! You mentioned that u have a rather thin curtain. I wonder if you could layer it with some jeans? UV rays can't pass through such tight and thick material.
@@yzabellatrix that's really a tough situation wow 😢 I liked the suggestion the person above give. I didn't know jeans could protect us that well of the sun, but if they do, then it's certainly a thing to try!! I don't think you'd be able to properly heal your skin during the night while you work as you're probably in contact with pollution and such and you don't want those in your skin you're healing it, I think? At least that's what I always took from "night is to repair". But then again, "night is to repair" can just refer to the fact that when you sleep your body recovers itself from everything bad. So in this case you'd really have to apply those healing products during the day (when you sleep). Wow, this is such a tricky situation, truly!!
Thank you for your suggestions! Maybe next time I just gotta invest in those blackout curtains 🤔 Hopefully they’re breathable tho because it might be too thick for our hot and humid country 😅 For now during the pandemic, I’m working from home so I can use the healing products during the night (since I’m just in my room, in front of my laptop). Don’t know how I can manage tho if we need to go back to work physically.. But that’s also my question!! Do repairing products work especially well while sleeping (since cells heal themselves while you’re in bed?) or is this another skincare myth..? Maybe another video idea for @Lab Muffin Beauty Science 😂
JAMES, sheet masks are amazing for rosacea. I use them when I'm really red and its so bad my face is just burning up - the literal burning up that others can feel radiating off you. I use the goopiest one I can find, I prefer the hydrogel ones to the sheet, but I slap one on, and lay around watching youtube or something for an hour. Keep it hydrated, even if you have to spray water on it. They tend to come with so much goop, you can just keep spreading it on. Sheet masks can really help red, irritated, on fire skin. My rosacea gets so bad sometimes, I need an ice pack (I have fancy gel filled once you can put directly on your skin). These masks can are great at sucking the heat out of your face and actually making it cold.
I have trouble with thinking that I'm worthy of taking care of myself or loving myself, so when he said that "we are worth the investment", I teared up a little lol
I am sooo glad that I discovered K beauty essences. It is an absolutely necessary step for me. Even if I'm too tired for my full routine, I always use my essences, am and pm.
Dont apologize for being sweaty 🥵 We all swim 🏊♂️ in the same heat. As you said with retinol - My opinion and also what we had on pharmacology ( cosmetology ) it is not solution for teenage age. It is reserve for them for later:) Retinol is very good but strong stimulant. Skin is very intelligent mechanism that adapts and learn. If we will over stimulate it in the begging, some functions might not work as they should - they will get lazy. We want to motivate skin rather than demotivate it :) I fully agree with those recommendations:) and Niacinamide is a love of our lives :) 🏆🏆
Velia Cardenas very its very what we would call muggy which means that the air is so humid it feels wet ironically we now have thunderstorms fog and heavy drizzle the next day
I just came across your channel recently. This is exactly what I've been looking for! I've been struggling with oily and dull skin for ages. My main mistake has been switching products too often. I will stick to a simple routine now.
Dark circles can also be from lack of iron, when I was little, I was very sick and had very little iron, so I had medicine that tasted like iron (like a fork basically) after I had enough iron my dark circles practically went away
Wonder if that's what's going on with me. The Ordinary caffeine solution did nothing for my eyes. I have dark circles and brittle nails that are starting to flatten, and I've got weird bruising on my leg. I'm trying to eat more iron rich food and vit c, but wondering if I should start taking an iron supplement too.
I started using retinol (one from the ordinary) at age 27. I’m 33 now and definitely look much younger. That’s partially genetics, though. And only when I started using and AHA/BHA toner in the pst few months is when my few hormonal acne spots completely cleared up. You and Hyram helped me figure out my skin needed something extra besides the retinol.
Hi James, I know you try and keep videos below 15 mins but would love to see a longer one every once in a while? Will watch anything u put out tbf just a suggestion ✌️💗
I love the ritual of doing my Estee Lauder serum, eye cream and moisturiser at night. Take my time doing it, and am really gentle. It is so calming, and my skin loves it!
on retinol - I started using it this year at 21 because of my hyperpigmentation and it kinda did a way better job than a vitamin C and I used the vitamin C every day, and the retinol once a week btw I used the It's Skin vitamin C (that was the only one available to me at the time that wasn't too thick (I have oily skin), the only one that I didn't have to order from abroad and pay high customs and it's available in drugstores here and I don't have a sephora in my city), and The Ordinary retinol in squalane 1%
Do you still use it only once a week or have you increased the repetitions over time? I have the same issue of hyperpigmentation and I’m 22 so I’m wondering what would be the ideal VitC serum and retinol product for targeting hyperpigmentation
@@Nikku_GyuGyu okay so I used it once weekly in the beginning and I could see that the state of my skin in general was better after a month kinda. Because I didn't get any sensitivity or dryness at all, I started using it twice a week, and if I remember correctly it took kinda two weeks more to see some old marks fading. I have combination but mostly oily skin and get kind of breakouts (but nothing serious) and when I used retinol it happened less and I didn't get hyperpigmentation when I did get an odd pimple
@@zarfeenhameed2664 for the first month I used it once a week and then I used it twice a week because I didn't have any bad reaction. I have combination/oily skin that isn't sensitive in general, so the 1% retinol wasn't too strong for me. And about vit C serums I really don't know tbh :/
Thanks for touching products to use on specific age range. I have a pre-teen daughter and sometimes I think twice, thrice, again and again whether I'm letting her do the right thing, in the hopes that we could avoid her having breakouts once she enters her teens. Right now she's limited to cleansing and sunscreen (in the morning) then cleansing at night, eating right then vitamin supplements. Our bane is sleep time due to the pandemic. Anyway, I'm blabbing now. But thank you for all the tips!
Love your videos James, the only eye treatment that actually works for me as in it tightens any sagging skin and lightens the darkness is the ordinary caffeine with ecg, I also use it around my mouth and the difference is amazing 👌🏽🤯
JUST FOUND YOU!!! I’m 26 and just started looking into skincare (which according to most beauty gurus, seems to be the perfect age to get into skincare)... I feel like I know Hyram & Susan Yara inside out..., now to get to know you! BRB whilst I binge ALL your videos 😘
Hi James thank you for recommending niacinamide from The Ordinary. I’ve tried it and I LOVE IT it has helped my skin so much and as a woman who is 51 there is an over abundance of stuff and it’s getting to the nitty gritty with the products and what you really need so thank you so much!!!
My skin has changed.. transformed because of you. It's brighter, my pigmentation is almost gone. It's so plum. I'm so glad I found you and your brother for make up!! Love from India🇮🇳
Is there a triplet that does hair care? Cause then the welsh’s would be the only channels I need LOL you both have completely changed my beauty routine for the better. I have beautiful skin for my beautiful makeup!! Love you so much ❤️❤️
I’m using retinol and I’m 17 because of my acne scars. So I say use it if you feel you need it no matter the age. It’s changing the game for my skin, do what you think is best for your skin and what gets good results
@@cherriesvu I use the CeraVe acne resurfacing serum. Its not the only thing in my routine. It might not work for everybody though so be warned that its only changed my skin and it might not change yours. :) its specially made for acne scars
@@treeman6464 thank you so much for telling me! and thanks for the heads up! i think i'll try it out eventually since i also have a few acne scars, especially on my forehead and cheeks. i do understand that it may not work on me, it's trial and error when it comes to what skin care products work on oneself xx
i personally feel that eye creams and essences have improved my skin A LOT. they def are not necessary for everyone but using essences have really helped fade acne scars and other spots i have not on my face. last year i suffered a bad 2nd degree burn on my leg, while it was healing i tried used an essence on it (rohto melano cc intensive anti-spot essence) & there is completely no pigmentation at all
omg im only 21 and i had a nice grouping of fine lines already on my forehead so i jumped on the tretinoin train and 6 months later they’ve started to f off finally 👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
thank you so much for laying it out in such a simple way. as someone who's still living off my parents' pocket money, i feel like i'm burdening them when i ask for skincare, so this was a great way to weed out the luxury items that i once thought was a need.
Yes we do hv many Extras and Extravagance and still don't get satisfied.. and Such content by You James helps us.. to know and believe in basics.. Thanks James..
I've never enjoyed just barely washing and moisturizing my face once every day or so before. Even that minimal effort felt like this annoying thing I had to just push through and a big waste of time. Now?? Oooh, girl... I take my time, I'm relaxed while doing it, and I take pride in taking care of it. I have a routine. Whaaaa???? 🤯 James, you work some serious miracles!
@@JamesWelsh Double ahhhh! You just made my whole week with that response! :) I've been trying to reach you to ask you a question about part of the routine that I'm confused about.. Hi James, can you please do a rosacea specific video talking about your journey with that, from mild to flair ups. I'm a guy who recent got super into skincare thanks to your channel and guidance. I find that a lot of women in the skincare space touch on this issue (redness, rosacea) but then almost kind of, go on to talking about how as long as the skin is healthy, they will then use primers and concealers and setting powders on top, to hide that redness and uneven skin tone etc - as a guy i personally really don't want to be putting all that stuff on - even "undetectable makeup" is "detectable" - I am using a concotion of Paula's Choice and Ordinary products, trying to solve redness and mild rosacea on my cheeks - I have been asked for the last 10 years, if I have "caught the sun" or "if i have been hitting the tanning beds" - i am trying to use calming product lines from PC, as well as HA, Niacinamide, Azelaic, and really focusing on hydration - and while the texture of my skin feels silky and great with all those layers on, nothing seems to actually solve the redness issue, in fact using so many steps in a skincare routine sometimes even feels like it is making it worse! please help ;)
I started using retinol at 16/17 but for a special type of acne (deep whiteheads which produce bad spots eventually and create a bunch of bumpy texture). This is years before the AHA's and BHA's were accessible. Glycolic keeps it at bay now but I'm 26 and retinol is defo back on the table.
Need a top up on my skincare as some of them are running out! This is such perfect timing 🙏❤️ thank you 🥰 Been using your videos to help target some of the issues I experience and have seen a great improvement!
It certainly has, my blackheads have significantly reduced and my skin is much more glowy, less irritation (now I know why my skin has reacted so much recently!) 😂 I do appreciate the knowledge and the research you provide! You are extremely thorough with everything which makes my Science nerdy side very happy 😊
Sheet masks are serum but I’d say it’s on another level since they also us to drench the skin with serum for 20 minutes straight without evaporating. There was that challenge video trying sheet masks morning and night for a week
Hello I wish you have a video about derma rollers or micro needling in order to fade scars and acne scars and trigger the collagen beneath the skin to have a smoother complexion.
I started using products containing retinol in my mid-20s, not for lines or wrinkles, but for its skin strengthening properties and light resurfacing. I’ve worked my way up since then to a mid-strength Medik8 retinol, my skin is a lot stronger for it. No fine lines on this face either!
I would LOVE for you to address the PEG found in Cereve! Everyone glosses over this, but like... that's plastic you're pouring down the drain? PEG used to be that ingredient people would avoid, but now that's cereve is trending people have just forgotten about it

Thank you thank you thank you thank you for saying that about eye creams!! I just knew they were useless!! I’ve been using my moisturizer for years and I look like my 18 year old daughters sister according to everybody. I have dark circles under my eyes and have since I was little and my dermatologist said it’s more than likely genetic and nothing will really get rid of them except for concealer. I do use some stuff that she suggested but since the rona I don’t go out much so it’s all good. So once again thank you you beautiful creature 🦩🦩
My Foreo Luna Mini is 100% essential. It made my skin go from dry to normal. The one week I forgot it while on a trip, my skin went back to being dry. It's made the biggest difference in my skin out of everything and within a week. So many of my friends have gotten one after I raved and they love it, oily friends included. I haven't tried the knock offs, but they would probably have a positive effect on anyone.

I believe skincare essentials just change depending on individual skin. And I love my foreo 😁
Yeah exactly! Like a toner is my essential but I know loads of people won’t use one haha. Omg I love my Foreo so much!
@@JamesWelsh Yes, thanks for getting me hooked on toner as well. I was just using the wrong ones my entire life. The I'm From Rice Toner was my gateway to the world of useful toners.
James Welsh great informative video. What do you think about Shea butter as a facial moisturiser ?
Honestly yes he has!
.. my down fall is I have a hard time with routines, so it has been a bumpy road haha🙃
I had a routine already, but he is responsible for my switch to the Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel. I really love this stuff.
My skin keeps flaring up with seb dermatitis. Idg it
Retinoids are good to use as a teenager/young adult if you have acne. I was using Retin-A and Differin (when it was Rx only) 20 years ago before their anti-aging benefits were well known. Mind you, I am much older now and I barely have wrinkles 😊

You may need to rebuild your skin barrier. I have found Aveeno's extra dry moisturisers (esp the one in the baby aisle as it is super gentle!) And their cica cream really really helpful. That and a hyaluronic acid serum.
maybe you need a better moisturiser
This year. I am saved.

"Toner is my personal essential routine" yay for that, I love toners.
I am very glad that you vocalized something that I always ask myself due to self-image issues. Thank you for saying that we are worth the investment in our skin. It may seem so simple or silly to some, but it gives me a warm feeling in my heart. Thank you.
Happy Friday everyone! 🙂
Hope everyone is staying safe and remember to SPF ❤️
I started the highest strength of prescription retinol at the age of 14 and I’m so grateful. I’m now 30 without a single wrinkle and most people still think I’m under the age of 18 without makeup and with makeup they usually guess 21 or 22 and I really think it’s because I started using retinol at a very young age. But definitely consult a doctor first like I did.
Okay, can we just talk about how the spinning plate thing is a cute lil change? LOVE!
Came here specifically to find a comment about that rotating lazy susan. How does that even exist?
I’m so glad that you came out with a video about the ‘non essentials’ of skincare!! 😫I have had acne for the past 5 years and recently I ONLY used 2 skincare products that I found thanks to you and Leah Yoo and my skins clearing up 🌝 ...also the white shirt looks great on you 😄
You should have at least 3 skincare products. Cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen
He literally said that people should do what works for them, which is what this person is doing

I adore having an eye cream especially during winter as my eye area gets really dry, imo it’s a must in my routine
You are so transparent when you film a video I love it so much !! And your honesty, thank you!!!!!
I'd love to see a video on it as well but ultimately I think that maybe a specific product just for your lips are useless.
i personally love using carmex
My lips are super dry too! And nothing helps, I tried drugstore, more expensive and farmacy lipbalms and as you said, it got even worse. The eyecream idea is really good, bit I'm a little scared maybe because I'm scared that I'll swallow it 😅 but thanks for the idea, maybe I'll try it ❤️

Hey James! How about creating a vid on how to do skincare for those who work in the night shift (or anyone who sleeps during the day aka us vampires 😂)
As you always say, Morning is for protecting the skin and Evening is for healing/repair. Is it the other way around if you sleep during the day and work during the night? I also have a hard time using thicker consistency moisturizers when I sleep because I have to layer it up with a LOT of sunscreen (I would rather DIE than wake up every 2hrs just to reapply sunscreen 😢). The actives tho are kinda easy to follow, I just have to follow your vid about what products you can use during the day/night 🥰
Love your videos and I hope you’re surviving during the hot summertime ✨
I'd say it is the other way around for you, yes 🤔
I'm just curious as to why you're wearing sunscreen to sleep? Do you keep your windows open and let the sun in, is that is?
I'd say that's not really necessary. Keep your windows closed and depending on the time of your shift, just enjoy some hours of sun before/after work.
You can get the enough amount of daily B12 by spending just 15min outside, btw.
Rae My bed is beside a window and my curtains are those thin ones which doesn’t really cover the sun. I also live in the PH which basically has summer all year long so wearing a sunscreen is sadly a necessity ☹️
The hard part is usually healing/repairing products are on the thicker side which makes it hard to layer with sunscreen..
Maybe next time I just gotta invest in those blackout curtains 🤔 Hopefully they’re breathable tho because it might be too thick for our hot and humid country 😅
For now during the pandemic, I’m working from home so I can use the healing products during the night (since I’m just in my room, in front of my laptop).
Was just about to order some skincare. Thank you for helping us James ❤🥺
James We want an updated fave toner, essence, serum and moisturiser videos plsss ❤️❤️
You’re amazing with the information you share with us. Thank you for your time!
I use a retinol every day from CeraVe even though I'm 19, and it has helped so much with my acne and the unevenness in my skin.

As well as genetic.

Idk why but I read this as Carol Baskin 💀 😂
on retinol - I started using it this year at 21 because of my hyperpigmentation and it kinda did a way better job than a vitamin C and I used the vitamin C every day, and the retinol once a week
btw I used the It's Skin vitamin C (that was the only one available to me at the time that wasn't too thick (I have oily skin), the only one that I didn't have to order from abroad and pay high customs and it's available in drugstores here and I don't have a sephora in my city), and The Ordinary retinol in squalane 1%
Great to hear that!
How long did it take to see results? :)

Dr. Dray mentioned that retinols are good for acne, so teens can also use retinol for this reason. Retinol helped me a lot with breakouts
Totally just placed my first Yes Style order thanks to your recommendations and code! Sioris mist and Purito serum! 🙌🏻
Yay!! 900k subs! We're nearning a million! Way to go James!
Need a top up on my skincare as some of them are running out! This is such perfect timing 🙏❤️ thank you 🥰 Been using your videos to help target some of the issues I experience and have seen a great improvement!
Ahhh I’m really hope they help!! ☺️🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
I love your content and how you approach each of us❤
Hello I wish you have a video about derma rollers or micro needling in order to fade scars and acne scars and trigger the collagen beneath the skin to have a smoother complexion.
I started using products containing retinol in my mid-20s, not for lines or wrinkles, but for its skin strengthening properties and light resurfacing. I’ve worked my way up since then to a mid-strength Medik8 retinol, my skin is a lot stronger for it. No fine lines on this face either!
James thank you for showing your slightly dark under 👁 circles unconcealed
... Looking beautiful & natural
I would LOVE for you to address the PEG found in Cereve! Everyone glosses over this, but like... that's plastic you're pouring down the drain? PEG used to be that ingredient people would avoid, but now that's cereve is trending people have just forgotten about it
I always feel you are totally dedicated, and spend hours researching and testing (On yourself) skincare products for Us. Your intro. seems somehow negative in reference to your Wealth of information. We love how much you do for us.❤️
if you have normal to oily skin. Just use the AM (spf 30) and PM moisturizer and the SA cleanser. 3 of them have Niacinamide and Hylaronic acid. Just use these 3 things and just see how your skin changes. ps. i live in manitoba canada the most coldest place in canada but when it hot it feels like 32 c
Wow, concise, super informative, good pace, cool visuals✨ Thanks James🙌🏼 I just ran out of moisturizer and will be trying the one you recommended since I have oily skin too.
Oh, James! As a fellow summer hater, sending cool thoughts! It'll be over soon enough and autumn will be your reward!
Arnica K cream helps tremendously
Arnica K cream helps tremendously
Thanks, I’ll have to give that a try 😁
My Foreo Luna Mini is 100% essential. It made my skin go from dry to normal. The one week I forgot it while on a trip, my skin went back to being dry. It's made the biggest difference in my skin out of everything and within a week. So many of my friends have gotten one after I raved and they love it, oily friends included. I haven't tried the knock offs, but they would probably have a positive effect on anyone.
happy friday! i love skincare and you’ve taught me so much!
Wish looked that refreshed when im sweaty lol. Great video and always enjoy your great videos and gentle way of speaking.
I love using toners because they help my moisturizer absorb into my skin
Such a soothing voice to listen to after a long week plus maybe I’ll learn something 😉
