    Honestly, I thought this video will be boring. But as you go along, you make a lot of sense. Nice.

    Everything you say, makes sense! I shoot since the late 70's and rarely find a photographer in youtube, with love and knowledge about photography!

    A very practical, genuine and helpful personal perspective on shooting with any camera, but especially the GX8. An excellent contribution and worthy of many more views!

      Hi, Yes, I bought one a few days ago. A beautiful camera capable of much more than I actually need. I recently sold my Fuji cameras, having previously bought and sold 3 different Panasonic cameras because I couldn't make up my mind as to what I wanted to photograph. I looked long and hard at the Sony RX100 series, the Canon G7X, and the Panasonic LX15 (LX10) and the LX100. I decided that I wanted a camera that was 'weather sealed' and could take great photos and video. It also had to be affordable. Of course, a big plus is the amazing range of M43 lenses that the GX8 can utilise. With the current cash back offer in the UK, I paid £600 for my GX8 with the 12-60 splash proof zoom lens - and an extended 2-year warranty. Keep up the good work and best wishes.

      Good to hear that the GX8 works well for you, and also it's great that you found a good price for your GX8! It's an amazing camera that I use for almost anything, I just recently shot a semi-pro pre-wedding session of my friends with it together with my older GX7 and both produced amazing results that are as good if not better than what the Fuji cameras(the 16MP ones) do. The GX8 is also my main video camera too both when I travel or for semi-pro shooting sessions. I'm planning to use the GX8 for vlogging too in the future. Thanks Paul, warmest regards from Indonesia, enjoy your GX8 :)

    I had a lot of full frame cameras : DSLR, Leica M240, Sony A7RIII. I sold all of them for several reasons (weight for DSLR, focus issues with Leica and to many beak down with the A7RIII).
    Currently I use a GX8 with a 25 f/1.4 for 99% of my picture (for the others I have a 75 f/1.8 lens) and I enjoy it: light, convenient, discreet and the quality of the pictures is good enough most of the time. I said I'll wait for the Nikon hybride, but honestly I am not in a hurry to change anymore henceforth.

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      wow that's a lot of cameras that you previously owned before. glad you like the GX8 and the 25 1.4 combination. The new Nikon mirrorless cameras are intriguing but i also don't think that i will switch, at least anytime soon, because i'm already happy with my m43 setup. cheers!

      @@Gary_W It helps to be an old-timer. First started in 1960 and with film you only had 8, 12, 24 or 36 exposures before reload and you had to make them count. So shot visualization was very important. You did a very good job on this presentation.

    Hi,
    I am hesitating between this GX8 and the Fuji X-T20. What do you suggest?
    Thx.

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vincent Uservinc I haven't got a chance to try the new X-T20 because it isn't available yet where I live here. However, compared to the X-T10, the GX8 is much more snappier and can handle a bunch of RAW images before the buffer fills up. The X-T10 was struggling to process just a few short burst of RAW images. AF is faster on GX8 too. But X-T10 did provide a stop better noise performance at high ISO. So it depends on what you need, performance or IQ.

    I like your style of shooting and in this video. Good music, too... and not overused.
    My favorite photo you only put up for a second. It's the seated lady in red at 6:33. It made me wonder about her and the situation, plus she's pretty.
    I bought the GX8 because it reminded me of the Leica M4 I had in 1971. I ended up selling it for an SLR, because of the macro ability. Leica needed a bulky Visoflex. But the mirrorless GX8 operates similarly, but can do both as-is.
    I am a bit unsure about the quality of M43, thinking maybe of a Fuji XPro2, but so far, it's been fine.
    I don't find the flip-out screen obtrusive. Reason? When I'm looking down at it, subjects think I'm focusing on something in the direction I'm looking. They don't notice where the lens is pointing.
    I LOVE the swiveling EVF, which you didn't mention. It lets me shoot over and around obstacles, sort of like having a periscope.
    Thanks for your video. I will probably watch it again. I'll look for more of your photos, too.

      Thank you very much for your kind comment. I'm glad that you enjoyed my pictures. My GX8 already proved itself more than worthy for my needs. I'm now starting to use it for paid jobs too. I will start to pose more videos this year, I was caught on so many things on 2017, but now I start to have a more organized schedule, so photography videos will definitely come in the near future! Once again thank you for your kind comment! :)

    mantep mas penjelasannya.top.Btw warnanya diganti pas post gak? saya kan pake lumix jadul yang tone warnanya netral sama cold banget, gak se-catchy fuji, canon atau oly sih masgan rasanya :D

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makasih commentnya bro. Saya warna ga terlalu otak atik, tapi saya tembak selalu RAW, jadi ya colornya pakai Adobe profile mas. Wah mas warna Lumix ga kalah, kalau RAW malah paling netral dan flexible punya Lumix dan Fuji mas, punya yang lain kadang tint nya agak terlalu jauh. Canon malah kuning banget, meskipun kalau RAW bisa diganti-ganti sendiri hehehe.

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I really think this is a great camera that will serve you for a long time for sure, whether as a first camera or as an upgrade(or "downgrade" in my case, I "stepped down" from Canon DSLRs). With the newer Panasonic cameras being launched (GH5, G9, etc), the sensor is still holding up to those newer cameras really well! Not sure about GX9 this year, maybe next year who knows! I'm Indonesian, cheers!
