  • Hey All! This is the second song I've heard from Concrete Blonde, and it sounded much different than my first listen, Heal it Up! This sounds a little earlier in their career and more raw. Loved it!

Great reaction. Used to blast this song going to UH main...doing 90 mph on 45. After all these years, still my favorite band. Keep digging into their catalog. You won't be disappointed.

This was from their first album in 1987, still very punk-influenced. Later music became more pop-influence but still very good. As others have said, "Joey" was a huge hit, along with " Walking In London", "Bloodletting" and "Tomorrow, Wendy". Look also for their cover of Leonard Cohen's "Everybody Knows" from the soundtrack to the movie "Pump Up The Volume". Great videos to it here th-cam.com/video/l5Fb4K8pNmg/w-d-xo.html (Official video) and here th-cam.com/video/axnCMV-on9Q/w-d-xo.html (acoustic version - amazing vocals)

Hey Paz! To shorten the time to the next reaction - try this band, they need some views.

@@conditionsunderground great tracks, but it's funny that in the first song I could hear a mixture of Spiritbox and Rolo Tomassi, but on the second it was IWABO and Rolo Tomassi, due to the more noodley guitar parts..I have heard of them, but this is my first listen to them, thanks for sending these 🙂🤘

@@pazwretzky4673 Their single "Clsr." from 2020 is nice too. I think you are right with their sound, I can hear that. Do you like the newest Rolo release "Closer" , btw? very different single, again. The album will be very interesting for me. Drip is the best one so far.

@@conditionsunderground I do like the new Rolo song, and I look forward to the new album...Rolo Tomassi were like an acquired taste for me when I first heard them, but they have a very unique sound, a beautiful and aggressive sound which I enjoy

Two of their best songs have to be "Tomorrow, Wendy" and "Joey". Her voice is haunting.

You definitely hit Concrete Blonde's early sound here.
If ya go forward with Concrete Blonde, (and I will subscribe just to see if you do)
Give the following songs a try:
    Caroline, with video
    Little Conversations,
    Scene of a Perfect Crime
    City Screaming (about her addiction)
    Ghost of a Texas Man
    God is a Bullet,
    Mexican Moon
    Roxy
Concreate blonde is an under-rated band. Very glad you have reacted to the band. Keep up the great work. Your fans enjoy the content you bring.

Great selection there. The only one I would add is The Beast. Possibly their hardest rock song.

Their song "Tomorrow, Wendy" is a great example of their mellow side, but the song still packs a punch both sonically and message-wise. It was written by a friend of the band about a woman who had AIDS back when AIDS was still a death sentence back in the late 80s. There's no official music video as I don't think it was ever released as a single. There are live performances, but my personal preference is for studio recordings. (Oddly, the studio recording, even the 2010 remaster, has inconsistent volume which seems more like a mistake than an artistic choice.) Here's a link to a lyric video th-cam.com/video/NCwIHwSt8RU/w-d-xo.html and a link to a video with just a still image of the album cover with the studio recording th-cam.com/video/zsEUcRHlS0w/w-d-xo.html

Joey was their biggest hit in the USA, but few good songs from them, specially in the 90's in my opinion. Bloodletting (The Vampire Song) among the ones i like the most. Check out Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, is one of the rock bands i enjoy now. Cupid's Arrow my favorite, but no music video for the song & is the #1 from them on Spotify. Other great songs with music videos: Kitty Sucker, Lullaby & Crowbar.

Hey man, just popping by to mention that Shadow of Intent's new album is out now, and most of the songs are even better than the singles, it really is a masterpiece and I highly suggest checking it out. Top recommendations, or top bangers:
Farewell, Saurian King, Blood in the Sands of Time.

If you're checking out thse indie artists, take "Stars" by Hum for a spin. Early 90s group. Their sound is like Soundgarden meets Smashing Pumpkins.
