    I am looking in doing kinda the same to my 51 Buick Special. I will hook up an overkill (electric) hoist to multiple beams on the ceiling. I am not worried about the setup but more of the body if it will stay in pne piece and not warp. Mine will be hanging like that for awhile since I got two other cars in the garage and one is on lift so I can park frame on the floor underneath the lift.

    Nice job man I just bought my 13-year-old a 77 Impala we're about to pull the body off to do framework to it I ended up buying a harbor freight winch a 5,000 lb one which I know is for pulling but I'm hoping it'll do a thousand pounds lifting mounted it in my ceiling after making a land beam up there we're going to be taking the body off this weekend I'll let you know how it goes I'm hoping it can lift it do you have any idea how much the body weighs

    • @dtuck0509
      @dtuck0509  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I appreciate it. Not sure about the older impala, but I would guess the cutty shell to weight around 400-500 lbs. That impala is a bit bigger, so I would guess 600-700 maybe? I would definitely go overkill on the reinforcement…. Better safe than sorry. Good luck on your project.

      Steven Chance I used floor jocks and jack stands. I jacked up one end if the car up using blocks of wood so I could slide the 4x4 across the top of the frame, and repeated for the other end.
