They chose the best judge. Just look at his very serious creations he made with Twitch chat.

9:04 One of my favourites out of all of them. I'm a sucker for the first gen MR2 and the clean lines of it, and it just being an absolute load of fun to chuck about. Just overall a very cohesive design!

      I had a Red '85 MR2, brings back memories

Personally I felt the judging was especially good here, although as someone else pointed out, the ‘too-similar-to-existing-cars’ penalty was maybe inconsistently applied
I love this tournament though! Keep it up :)

Hell yeah I made it in! I feel my real world experience helped alot here, I based it off my real 1988 MR2 but with personal touches to make it more "radical". That's kinda why the rear looks the way it does. I wanted a look that would catch your eye if you were behind it in traffic, with the large angled straked rear lights (I tried going for a kinda testarossa/cyberpunk look). Another touch that didnt really make itself visible on the video was the engine lid with the two raised vents beside a styled vanity cover which I was really please with how it turned out. Also only after I had submitted it I had realized you could change the roof height of this body (oof). And pretty funny that another finalist had the same idea, but I feel their entry is too close to the real thing with what looks like a celica front end grafted on but the craftsmanship is pretty nice anyways. So I guess thats two first gen mister 2 inspired machines in which is pretty wild lmao.

Congrats on being a finalist - by itself that is quite an achievement, as this was maybe the hardest category to even make the finals!

I wish I'd have joined this competition. I have an early/mid 90's sports sedan that I would have loved to show off

This judging has been incredibly inconsistent. That kwaliteitpotato design that looks almost one for one like an MR2 gets practically no penalty (and even scores higher than his not-Lancer) while Riley’s car can’t even break 40 despite being clearly better in pretty much every category. And Kargath’s car with its De Tomaso greenhouse, Citroen taillights and European wheels also somehow gets no penalty for missing the brief. And you used the wrong picture when announcing the second place winner, but too late now I guess.

My slip on the wrong picture, apologies to kwaliteit

Honestly a bit dissapointed with shooterxx´s car getting so high. It´s rear and sides aren´t anything enourmously special, but it´s svaed by the front. The problem is that it is basically just a copy of the Hyundai Tiburon and it´s GTA V version, the bollokan Prairie. It´s not a famous car, but it looks cool and i just think that it has far to strong a resemblence to be coincidental.

I never actually looked at the Tiburon during the making of this car, but I do see the similarities. I did not even know there was a GTA V counterpart, and that one I find it very different from what I made. The car itself is not supposed to be strikingly special, since it was targeted as an entry sport budget, fighting against entry model GTOs and Stealths (USDM), not your souped up Supra, nor Skyline.
