That whole boost pressure vs manifold pressure thing was fascinating to learn about, it made me decide to start reading and research the difference. Edit: To the point, I learned that if an ECU controls the wastegate using Boost Pressure, the engine loses power as altitude increases, since its only maintaining pressure over atmospheric which is dropping, and by reading Manifold Pressure, as all modern engines do, it increases the Boost Pressure at higher altitudes, keeping the engine power constant at the cost of increasing turbo lag as you get higher, at least up to a limit where the ECU doesn't allow any more simply due to the turbocharger's rated RPM limits so it doesn't potentially shatter, there's less resistance the compressor has to battle to provide boost since it has to spin faster to get the same boost so the RPM can reach higher and higher until it decides that it doesn't like being in one piece anymore.
@@Wings_of_foam Actually, I did not, that was all my typing. I do tend to go rather long-winded with my comments at times, mostly when I'm either excited, frustrated or rather fascinated at having learned something new XD It just goes on long enough I feel obligated to provide a TL;DR at the top afterwards XP
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. If this is a sign that this channel will be diversifying to cover more of those in depths vehicle builder games down the line, I'm very interested in seeing what will come up next.
Looooove the car, I know it looked goofy earlier, but the final result appart from the wing, almost everything looks amazing, reminds me of a modern MX5
This car looks like it would be a blast to drive. Small, tossable, revvy, and stable at high speed. It's like the automotive version of your artificially stable totally-not-a-Kfir from a month ago. In fact, I'm just rewatching that vid and you make that very comparison at 1:50. As far this car being the "Sport" trim package of a model line, I see it being in the middle of a 5-package series: *Zip* - _Bare-bones. Manual everything and a peppy NA 4-cyl, live axle, regular fuel_ *Roadster* - _Like the Zip but soft-top convertible and with mild NA/suspension/aero tune, live axle, regular fuel_ *GT* - _luxury interior, hard-top convertible, auto transmission option, turbo, engine/suspension/gas tank tuned for longer range, more safety eqpt, limited slip diff, premium fuel_ *Sport* - _(the one you made in this vid)_ *Corsa* - _aero, upgraded cooling, vented discs, cam/ignition/turbo tweaks, lighter panels (aluminium or carbon (in the front if possible to offset nose-heaviness)), limited slip diff, premium fuel_
The incline part of the track is for testing cars brakes (emergency brakes and normal brakes) on different angle grades to see if the car's brakes will hold.
6:50 Being front heavy doesn't cause oversteer, it just means you can't put down the power as intensely so you're more likely to powerslide. When you're off throttle or braking, you're actually going to be understeering more. Rear heavy cars have no grip in the front on the gas and all of it in the front on the brakes, causing you to oversteer into a corner, until you get back on the power to understeer out.
Looks pretty good to be your first car! I suggest moving the interior cam to the correct side, as well as lessening the window tint with the advanced trim settings tab (cog wheel when painting or adding trim) You can modify a lot of stuff with it, so make sure to experiment. Also, bring out the wheels so they have a more snug fitment under the wide wheel arches, using the tires and wheels tab. Magnesium rims might be a bit too expensive too, unless its a super limited trim of the car. Other details: add branding (model name, trim), use decal patches (steam workshop mod) to perhaps add a 2-tone livery and revise suspension settings to lessen low-speed oversteer. Other ideas might be a de-tuned 4 speed automatic USDM model, base model naturally aspirated inline 4 trim, or work on detailing (look up pictures of real cars during that period, and the best automation builds) Long post, but all of this will help you, feel free to join Automations and BeamNGs discord servers, plenty of helpful people there Download every mod under the sun, they will be used at some point. Worth mentioning: Modular Headlights, interior pieces, rim packages, white wall tires, engine bay models, badges and branding, exhausts and aero, just to name a few. Btw, theres an option to set the material, light colour and function of your lights when you click on them, you will see numbers on the corner of their picture. Set the front headlights to that, or as running lights. Currently its set at tail lights (not the same as brake lights) I still do that from time to time, despite having over 7 brands since I started playing, more than 300 hours ago!
For once I get to be more knowledgeable about stuff in Messier's video XD. 1) Front heavy weight distribution causes natural understeer, not oversteer. Force generated by tire isn't linear with load applied to it, which causes "heavier" end of the car to wash out in corner due to innertia increasing faster than lateral tire force. 2) From what I can guess in the video, you don't have problem with oversteer but with rear tires being unable to put power down. It could be fixed by increasing rear tire width, slightly improved by reducing stiffness of the rear suspension (both normal and lateral - sway bars). Other way to limit rear stepping out under power is increasing differential's locking % under power, which you can only do in Beam - either by file editing or equipping car with adjustable race lsd. 3) Fixtures are your main tool in getting car to look right. Usually to get shape you want, you need to stack multiple fixtures on top of each other and play with layers. 4) When chosing material for a fixture in fixture tab there's an little icon with the lightulb on it. That's where you set up lights. I guess that your headlight was from "taillight" tab, which means you have to switch it from "brake/taillight" to "headlight" manually.
Your choice in engine is great! Remember as an American you can choose whatever you want to prefer! My personal favorite engine is the Inline 5 series, specifically those made by Yamaha and used by Volvo and Audi's versions as well. My personal favorite being the one used in the 2004-2007 S60R, which I am fortuante to own a 2007 with a 6 spd manual. Have loved the 5 cylinder since we got our 1998 V70T5 wagon, which sounded amazing and was incredibly quick. Your car you designed is great. I tend to wind up making AWD cars myself as my favorites, but I have made my own versions of what you just made as well as a mid-rear which is something I'm generally fascinated with, but using a I5. have fun!
I find it fascinating how we know so much about all the physics involved that we can basically create an very precise simulation in the form of a game.
Hey, M82! I got a wacky plane idea: A twin fuselage triplane, forward swept variable sweep wings, 2 sets of canards, one in front of the other with a T tail combined with a normal tail. For propulsion you could use the weird combo of a very weak jet engine and a very powerful turboprop on each fuselage. I would love to see this monstrosity in flyout. Love your vids!
I should have KNOWN you were gonna post an Automation video! I used to build cars in Automation and test them out in BeamNG before I got into Simpleplanes, and planes in general I guess. Thanks for the pleasant surprise in my notifications!
The funny thing about me finding this channel awhile back is that I was playing automation and I was like "What if there was a game like this but for planes?"
I thought you content was the best, now its even better!!! I really enjoy watching your vids and everytime I wake up and see one of them in my subcriptions list, I get super excited!!!
Also, could I suggest a car for next time? Late 60s/ very early 70s american land yacht, full size sedan with an even bigger 6,7,8,9 liter V8. Cadillac even went slightly past 10L. More bore than stroke usually, and push rod heads. Soft, boat like suspension and maybe ladder frame and live axle rear, with a 3 or 4 speed auto. MERICAAAA!!!
Heyo! ^v^ This was a fun little video, and a nice change of pace from flyout. I wouldn't mind seeing more automation in the future. I have a video idea for Automation, if that's alright. My dad's favorite car is the Mustang, and one of his favorite planes is the P-51 Mustang. I asked him why, and he said he really liked the engine noise. So my idea is this: Make a car that uses the (Packard V-1650) Merlin engine, or at least as close to it as you can get (since you'll probably have to make it yourself). I think that would be fun, and might make for a interesting/funny car. And you could do the inverse in flyout if you wanted. ; )
I just opened yt and saw u posted 2 mins ago haha. Love your content man, I wish one day I could have the attention span you have, but autism is keeping me back somewhat. Hope you all have a great day. ❤ Btw I'm a guy if u were wondering
I'm so excited that you finally tried Automation! After seeing all your Flyout videos I knew this would be a good match for you as well. I agree the fixtures can be pretty annoying to deal with, but your first car turned out really well, I really love 90's JDM. Any chance of releasing it on the Beam repository for the rest of us to enjoy?
no carbon fiber body\chassis - checked ✅ no both DWB suspension - checked ✅ no ridiculously overpowered quad-turbo 20L V16 - checked ✅ no 4x4 with 9 speed automatic - checked ✅ no both carbon ceramic 6 piston brakes - checked ✅ no luxury-super premium-hand made interior - checked ✅ no maxed quality sliders - checked ✅ not bad looking exterior - checked ✅ That's a decent car right there, sir! 👍
You should give a game called Children of a Dead Earth a try. It's like Automation but realistic space combat, it's like Flyout but without the aerodynamics
First thoughts about this car, could use some anti roll bars/stiffer suspension to reduce body roll and help with steering. to help with weight distribution set the engine back a bit. could also play around with tire compound.
My first car from automation to beamng was my attempt and making an American car that can challenge foreign cars. I think I did a decent job, and wish I could share it with you to try out. In fact, I wish I could share it with friends so someone else can test it out for feedback.
Heh, if you think the fixture options are overwhelming now, wait till you learn to build entire cars out of 3d fixtures. This game can quickly become flyout on 4 wheels. Hell, if you want to build a plane in BeamNG, you can go ahead, it'll work.
Make a very in-depth GT car that ticks all the requirements designed with both long-distance driving and high speeds in mind. combine luxury and performance. 2-seater with around 612hp and a reasonable good interior using what automation has to offer. And around year 2019-23.

Absolutely
needs a turbo prop too
So true!
@@adora_was_takenrolls Royce obviously
Can fake that with an oversized rear wing.

Love when people play this game, good choice in reaching out to other games!
You should’ve said. “With all the body work out of the way we were ready to automation. I mean fly out. I mean drive out.”
Now we need Sprocket videos
8:50 Ah yes, the "Eyes to look up and curse god for the misfortune of his existence" headlight style
I’ve been playing this game for years now, cool to see someone try it out.
Oh thats exciting, do Sprocket next! We need the trifecta
The plane in this video looks a bit odd, but I'm sure it flies great
Thicker rear tires might help with the oversteer
Mercedes 82 is my favorite youtuber

Experimenting with other games? Hell yeah!
It feels so weird watching a Messier 82 video where I understand any of what’s being said lol
Complete the trio Messier
Play Sprocket the tank designer game
Anyways, great vid as always
Messier is just missing a train build!
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles..
Wait we doing cars now?!
It sounds beautiful. :D

Ive always thought that "design\engineering sims" and driving or flight sims should team up more. Hopefully more developers follow suit!
Dude your channel rocks
Its nice to see you play new a game
We need more automation
Being playing this game since 2015
You know what else this vehicle is missing? A quad boom.
hmmmmm, so we have air, land.............(brain thinking sfx)....... WE NEED BOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first automation car was a twin turbo V8 SUV that's meant to compete against the Dodge Hellcats and it's fast asf.
As a car enthusiast i never excpsected this and it makes me happy
Messier listened!!! Lets goooooooooooooo
I love the automation video
im 70% sure fill will capitalize on this
Would love to see you try sprocket
mmm yes, drive out
This channel is amazing! If you added a hellfire missile to this i bet it would exceed operational capability. 👀💁♂️🤷♂️
This is cool…. Now make a 6th gen car with advanced stealth features and loyal tesla support 😂
Your car is so light that the boxer engine is a higher proportion of the weight of the car than normal. Your center of mass would be crazy low.
I’d say make the cockpit area longer in the front, it looks a little funny
Now you're in Automation, time to go make that suppreme automobile:
Asbestos braked, leaded fuel using, malaise era 2023 hypercar
Would you consider playing Bomber crew? I think your knowledge of planes could make an interesting playthrough
Build a hovercraft in flyout using the ground effect
Oh neat, you made Honda 2000.
Next time make RX-8 but make the Wankel engine 2.0L.
You should do more of these videos 😅
Bro needed a car to get gome from the airport.
this is like a hot version feature

This is funny. Exact opposite of me. Huge Automation player. Wanting to get into Flyout.
Can you make some sourt of twin boom SR-71?
