    Never seen a roll of reinforcing mesh before. Done a little concreting here in Australia and engineers have generally specified F72 (which is 7mm bar X 200mm grid spacing). They are always in a rigid sheet 2.4m X 6m (8ft X 20ft).

    I poured an addition to my driveway about a month ago. It has been a long time since I played in the concrete. I had 70 foot of foundation that I poured first with the inexperienced help from a 68 year old friend. my 3:30 concrete showed up at 4:40 and by the time I got the concrete poured out in my drive addition (6" with rebar) it was setting fast. I had a real tough time getting the aggregate down. I put some water on it and kept hitting with my bull float that hadn't been used 12 or 15 years. Your work looks great. Good job. I'm too old for this now. Well, almost too old.

    Thanks Odell, I've learned quite a bit in a short time from your vids. I notice the old guy almost get in the way at one point, man I hate that. Is it wrong to tell a customer; "Sir, we charge double to watch and be in the way, or triple if you want to help". Kidding aside, when you're competent and confident, astute customers like him or even picky ones, will never bother you, and as I can tell he didn't bother you. Actually, the old guy even inadvertently helped out the video with a good tip, as a customer, checking the truck's load ticket, very smart. Take care, Imc

    Beautiful work. Fiber or rebar highly recommended instead of wire mesh for slab on grade. The mesh sags with the weight of steel and is not in tension, thereby loosing it’s function. Also, changing from 3,250 psi to 4,500 psi is well intentioned but not a good idea. This because 4500 is a much stiffer concrete with more tendency to crack as the moisture evaporates. So you generally should not go overboard with a stiffer concrete if it is not required by the project. But, overall, an excellent job.

I know dad too many people who would try to “outsmart” the owner just to prove they have been in the business long enough. Not only did you respect the owners wishes, but you went above and beyond with the concrete choice.

    "DIY concrete driveway"
    Uses equipment and cement truck that the average Joe would need to buy or rent.
    Nice video, good looking slab, but this really isn't a DIY video..

      rent

    • @bldrummer8287
      @bldrummer8287 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @Jason Poole Yeah I understand that the equipment etc can be rented/contracted. I wasn't trying to be negative, I was simply stating that the video didn't meet my expectations for a "DIY". I thought there might be some information on what the equipment being used is, where to rent it, the relative costs, how to use the equipment... but there's a lot of information not given or glossed over. If I wanted to put in my own slab, I'd need to ask a ton of questions and do a lot of research to learn the things this video didn't cover which means it's not very effective as an informative DIY video.
      Again, not trying to be overly critical... I liked the video and the slab looks great.

I have done time lapse videos of my work working on cars and went down to a 2-3 minute clips from 5-6 minutes because no one was watching the whole thing anyway
