    the only comment I am not agreed to is that you said the interior looks cheap... Mazda's interiors looks and feels much better its peer.

    My parents recently (as in yesterday) got the 2015 model of this car in this trim level and color. Mazda sales men were really friendly and gave them a really good deal on their trade in. I think it has the 2.5 liter though because it doesn't feel slow or underpowered in the least carrying three people and a load of groceries across town.

    Once again, excellent review Steve. I have a 2015 Mazda 3 Sport GX which is the Canadian equivalent of the iSport (base model) hatchback. I would definitely consider it the BEST compact car on the market for the money. I took the time to try out the new Corolla and Civic and they didn't compare to the Mazda 3's fun factor. Its driving impression leaves a smile on my face every time I drive mine.

    the 2.0 should be fine for about 80% of the people the corolla is still offering the same 132 HP engine for a decade plus an no one complains..the car is meant to offer connectivity w the driver and the road this is a Mazda trademark thats why it feels the way it does..the only car in its segment & price range that has come close to the driving dynamics is the new the Civic..but the Mazda still edges it slightly..

    #coincedince My local Mazda dealer just loaned me one of these for a month while my RX-8 was getting it's engine looked at. (sadly the motor was done and I never got it back). But the time I spent in the Mazda 3 was a bundle of fun. In record breaking long term sub-freezing temps I was astounded how well the car started up in -12 degree weather! It got around in the snow like a champ and was very fun to drive. Not a big fan of the voice-activation features though... If I wasn't hell-bent on the challenger this would be my second option, hatchback of course!

    You’re criticising Mazda’s excellent infotainment system, and then wishing for it to have Hyundai/Kia’s hideous one? Silly

      DaxXx988 You’ve got to be kidding. Or maybe you’ve never driven a Hyundai/Kia. This Mazda system is one of the very worst.

    Will the mid-cycle redesign model year be the 2016 Mazda3 or the 2017?

      TestDriveNow.com featuring Auto Critic Steve Hammes That's really odd; Mazda seems to be really lethargic right now. Their website is without a word regarding the 2016s despite the fact they're already hitting a lot of dealerships.

    Will you try the 2.5L Inline-4 that's in the Mazda3? (Also, standard in the Mazda6)

    Really it's roomier than the Civic? I don't think so.

      Gustavo José Pérez López I own one myself, for front passengers, it is roomier than its competitors.. but for the rear passenger...Mazda3 only offers limited space and less trunk space mainly due to its roof and pillar design.... BUT absolutely more fun to drive than Civic and Corolla

    Quietness and historically better reliability is what keeps Corolla ahead of this car, even though this is a much better road handler and more fun to drive, also Toyota has kept away from the possibly troublesome direct injection system that so many manufacturers have embraced.

    • @Wells306
      @Wells306 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      pedrof830 Carollas, and Toyotas in general, are about as generic as it gets whose primary goal seems to be getting you from A to B without a lot of worry or pizzazz.

    • @pedrof830
      @pedrof830 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      And they do that very well, that is why people buy them so often.

      pedrof830 resale value! Don't forget resale value! I have a 2006 Tucson and it's worth the same as my mom's 2002 corolla with 110,000 miles

    Second row is a knee smasher. Oddball looking wheel arches. Touch screen only works when you are in park. Price gets stupid in a hurry. Dealerships are generally horrible.
