I am a diy girl & have been cutting my hair since I was in Junior high. I have always wanted the feather look rather the shag cut. I could never achieve the look. It never balanced & I would use the curling iron to hide the bad cuts. Found your diy shag back in March 2022. I LOVE my hair & have grown it out! I can wash & go if I choose. I could stare at the back of my head forever. The diy shag cut has unleashed the wave the I have. I call it the Jake Thompson Shag cut. Thank you!!
Love this. Is there a way to:
1) Combine the other shag tutorial (3 years - 4 ponies) with the triangle in front. Would i just add the triangle so there are 7 sections?
2) How to reduce the fringe perimeter...make the back just a gentle "u" with more thickness at bottom?

I did this haircut in November and even now in Jan 2024 it still looks like a fresh shag. Its a great method for fine hair. I put the rubber bands up higher.

Omgggg your hair is amazing.!! It’s grown so much since the last shag video I’ve seen you do! I use your diys to cut my hair! I have type 3 curls and abc depends on the length. It’s super thick and down to my butt! I love the shag/wolf/butterfly cuts and I kind of combine them to get the perfect cut for me! Thanks for all your help! I’d love to have my hair done by you, you’ve helped me bring it back to life. I just need some help training my curl pattern to come back! I just haven’t been putting that kind of stress I. My hair because as of this recent year, I’ve lost close to half the thickness. ❤❤❤

Okay...stay with me...I am a spaz and can't get a pony right unless it's all the hair or against my head. Could I put all the hair in a center pony at the top center of my head, break it into four smaller ponys, then cut the original holder to free the four ponys? Also, how long would you say is the distance from head to elastic?
P.s. I don't like your mannekin's attitude...she doesn't look at all grateful for her awesome haircut!
Or...could I put each pony close to my head along the center?

I do a similar DIY. Next time I'll do it with 6 ponytails. I have wavy/curly hair and this is really ideal for me.
Edit March 2024: I followed this tutorial and I ❤ it. As you said, it looks balanced and my waves/curls look so nice.
Will this work on shorter hair? The length is just up to shoulder bob.
