I’m running this shelter on a NV muzzleloader hunt in just over a week so I appreciate a few elements you noted so I can be prepared.

Really solid review. I would run it with a couple hot bottles of water and a quilt. Everything looks great except the pole being in the center makes it difficult for an old stiff guy like me

As always great review. Good camera work. Good editing. Well done Sir.
I’ve had the Owyhee for a couple months and used about 20 nights so far. Pretty much everything you’ve stated is my experience as well. Good price, light, roomy enough, well made, good fabric. Ive found the two stuff sacks tedious and the sack for the nest too small so I’m using one larger stuff sack for both. I will still separate them from each other because using just the rain fly is quick and easy set up for mid afternoon storms.
I have been in two extended overnight storms at 11,000+ feet. No issues at all. One thing that is nice is packing up the morning after the tent weighs almost exactly the same as dry because the sil poly doesn’t absorb water. I will say during a fairly intense pea sized hail storm I did get a tiny bit of misting through the fabric from the hail impacts. That’s fairly common though so I’m not concerned about that.
I’m sure you know but there is one additional tip for set up you didn’t mention here. Since the design places much of the load and structural integrity on the front peg this can make the zipper difficult to operate and create undo stress on it. During setup when facing the door (and assuming the user wants to use the right side for the door as it’s designed) I’ve found offsetting the front peg slightly to the right will keep the left side of the vestibule properly tensioned And eliminate much of the stress on the zipper from the right side when closing.
Argali has a done a great job with this tent.

Great additional info and totally agree with the larger stuff sack. Would be nice to leave the insert and she’ll attached.

Cool Jay. Hey, the Rincon (2 person version) is definitely worth looking at if you need more space. Really roomy 2 person set up. You can pack both the inner and outer into the "outer" stuff sack with a bit of effort. Really compacts down well, and light. Another learning was replacing the "V" tent pegs Argali supplies (at least they do) with "Y" shaped pegs (Hilleberg, MSR Ground Hog etc do them). They are far superior to the "V" pegs, particularly when relying on your pitch to hold. Agree with the raised set up over pegging the outer close to the ground - way more head room on the inside, and no condensation issues. Great 3 season tent, or pitch in the trees if the weather comes up.

Great review. I have been very interested in this shelter. It is very similar to my Lanshan 1. I have been pretty impressed with the Lanshan for the price. At first, I thought the Argali came with the mesh insert and thought it was a great price point, but can't justify the spend over the Lanshan. I will say the Argali is most likely a better quality. For the price, you can get the Lanshan, which is already seam-sealed and includes the mesh liner, add some upgrades and some additional waterproofing, for Sub $200. Both have very similar specs and design, but for someone on a tight budget, you can't beat the Lanshan 1

Hey Jay, really love the review and the mission of Mindful Hunter. What do you do with your trekking pole during the day? I’d imagine, especially in sheep country, you’d definitely want the trekking pole you use to set up the tent. Thanks.

Looks pretty sweet. I use a bibler that's almost 4lb but it sets up really fast and it's 4 season. I also worked for outward bound for three years and spend 69 days a summer on the ground and we used a black diamond mega mid so I have a lot of fondness for that system. I'm intrigued though and I think I'll pick up a raffle ticket.

Have you had the opportunity to test the Absoraka 4p to the Peax Solitude (poitical issues aside). These would be for Elk season (October 30-Nov 3)in the PNW. Rainfall and early snow are possible with winds 5-25 mph. They seem comparable but im just starting my tipi journey.

I’m on a northern BC goat hunt right now and running the Absaroka. Review will be live a week or so after I’m home. I have no interest in peak. They’re still running silnylon as apposied to Argali who uses the far superior silypoly.

Hey Jay. Is the 1 person footprint noticeably smaller than the 2 person argali? I have the 2 and 4 person argali’s and love them both, my only concern is the 2 person still has a pretty big footprint.

Kick ass review as always Jay! Definitely know when u say it's good, means it's damn good lol can't beat that weight for a shelter, would you consider to run it late season in snow? Probably lower then to the ground and likely push some snow over the bottom lip?

Have you tested or looked at the Lanshan 1 Pro. they are very popular with the Paragliding Vol biv community. the tent is the silnylon material but is very popular at 840g for the 1 person.

Awsome review! Best gear reviews in the game keep it up. If you ever want to review the durston i have one you can take for a review xmid 1p. Im local. From my experience the durston is an awsome tent lots of room for gear head room and it is asymmetrical design, sil poly . One draw back It does need 2 poles and a bit more floor space to pitch. Id like to hear how you think it stacks up to the argali and the silex.

I wonder how the tent would do with a bivy sack… mark at exo keeps talking about his Jimmy’s tarp that’s not available and how he likes the structured tarps instead of the flat tarps.

@@MindfulHunter bugs? I dunno. Lol. I have the 4 person argali and like it. Except that it has a pretty big footprint and can be a pain to set up on uneven ground.
This tent just reminded me of the jimmys tarp that mark or steve was talking about that they use with their bivy sacks in a recent video.
I’m thinking about getting a 1-2 person tent for myself (and the dog) since my son has a pretty nice hammock set up that he prefers
