When we went to Adam ondi ahman about 7 years ago it was one of the most spiritual experiences of our whole trip with our family. Birds of prey circling in the sky. All the animal sounds and butterflies landing on us! And we all started crying as soon as we came through the gate to the site. It was truly amazing

I was born into a family of new converts in 1962. I was raised in the church in a small town in Southern Ohio. I recall hearing about Far West in seminary, but being a teenager wasn't very interested. About 2 years ago, a friend and I biked the Katy trail across Missouri. Since we were starting our trip just outside of Kansas City, we took the opportunity to visit a few church history sites before our bike trip. My friend suggested we go up to Far West. I didn't even know what to expect. When I passed through the gate, I had the same feeling as if I was walking onto an active temple site. The spirit was so strong there. It is a sacred, dedicated, holy spot. You can feel it. Adam-Ondi-Ahman was beautiful and very peaceful, but I felt the Holy Spirit stronger at Far West.
Jared, I just watched this for the first time today, and I want to say thank you for reposting this episode. ❤ I learned a great deal listening to it I'd always wondered what was supposed to take place there, and I feel that you have great insight, understanding & wisdom when it comes to many of the events which are expected to take place before as well as at the beginning of the millennium. Couldn’t find your all eyes on this Friday vid....so my comment to the urgency of what the prophet is telling us....I was just at stake conference and we had a 70s speak and he literally said... GET TO THE TEMPLE, I’M BEGGING YOU!! I’M BEGGING YOU! 😮 It was mostly temple centered all weekend!
I recently moved closer to a temple and have had strong impressions to go as often as I can now. Temple work has always been important, but it seems the church leadership as well as individual inspiration is leading as many as able to the temples at an almost urgent pace.
Don't forget the devotional in Orlando. I sang in the choir. President Nelson and his wife and Elder Uchtdorf and his wife spoke. And, although we knew about this for about two months, few people, in general, seemed to notice or care. But the meeting was wonderful!
I’ve had a feeling three times recently that many temple-attending members will be given the second anointing soon to help strengthen them for days ahead. This used to be done in the earlier days of the restoration. This may be one of the reasons why President Nelson pleads with us to go often. Many might say at that time that if they’d known this would happen they would have gone more frequently. But it’s like Nephi -he didn’t know why he was making a small set of plates…he only knew that the Lord commanded him. I hope we all go as frequently as possible and not delay. The blessings will come for being faithful and heeding the prophet’s voice in myriads of ways, perhaps included this very sacred one.
When we visited years ago l had an interesting experience, I took a few photos. There was an apple on the ground a snakeskin in a tree and a rather large altar like structure on the side of the hill. The must Lord has a sense of humor. I still have those photos. It is a beautiful place indeed.
So the drop off of the hill into the fields make it into an amphitheater and you can stand on one side and someone on the other side and if you whisper you can hear perfectly on the other side. We have had 3 couples from our area who have served there. The Prophet is their Mission Leader. It is set up natural for a large group to hear things. The Lord is in charge.
My relative was Thomas McBride one of the first to be murdered at Hauns mill. It is my understanding that the general members of the church did not receive the counsel from the Prophet to leave. It was given to the leader (Bro Evans I believe) in that area and he chose not to give the counsel to the general membership.
Our family visited church sites two summers ago. Our kids were so happy there (we have three 14 and younger). We definitely recommend people visit all of the sites. It’s such great history. Our second Artza box came too! We’re gifting it to family this time.
The Lord does everything in the light. We might not know about it, but I don't see the Lord hiding things sneakily. Every time I hear someone saying something like that, I cringe. And I never knew why until just now. The Lord does everything in the light, whether or not we see it.

I was remarking on his comment on how there is no secret stash of wiring or lights or equipment underground in preparation for the Second Coming. And I agree with him.

Here is something you might find interesting. We used to have the sacrament in our stake conferences when I was young. As the church continued to grow and the sacrament took a large hunk of the meeting they stopped doing it.
The Lord lit stones for the Jaredites so perhaps generators won't be needed for lighting. As for being able to hear the speaker, the valley is such that if you stand on opposite sides, the acoustics make it to where you can clearly hear each other! Incredible! Also, won't this huge meeting be after calamities and war clears out that area and the Saints will go to it. I don't think this meeting will look like a stake Conference with chairs, etc. Maybe it will more closely resemble how Adam had his meeting thousands of years ago. Maybe not, I don't know, it's just a thought. I guess when I have always pictured this grand meeting, I never imagined things like chairs and generators.
I guess Im from Utah and when they say steep they mean steep, like a 60 to 70 degree angle. The mountains here are also steep. I hope the 2nd coming is sooner than later after spending the last 32 year's in a wheelchair as a paraplegic.
When we went to Adam-ondi-Ahman in the first part of July, the missionaries there mentioned to our group that the First Presidency had been there the week before to check on the site. We were all pretty surprised.
I think the Book of Mormon is the perfect text to learn more about this. We have countless examples of individuals and groups that experience visions, visions so real it’s as if they are there physically. I believe AOA was a spiritual event. Those that were prepared experienced it on a certain day and time marked by a sign in the heavens. It felt like they were there at AOA property. But if you were standing at AOA on that day you would have no idea that it was taking place, except maybe the spirit was a little stronger. Most if not all the 144,000 attended, if they were awake and worthy, along with dispensational heads. Adam restored the patriarchal priesthood which opened the 7th seal (each dispensation is a restoration of the priesthood). When we each are found worthy, we will be able to attend this meeting, as if we were there on that day. Not sure if will happen as a large group but could be. I think it’s based on personal worthiness and when we awake, so probably individually based or small group. The world will never know about it, the general church doesn’t know about it, until they each awake and arise. Those that attended/attend will not discuss it. Nephi and other prophets do a great job of discussing this if we’re paying attention. We’re not physical beings having a spiritual experience but spiritual beings having a physical experience. We need to expand oue Earthly thinking and look at everything with eternal, celestial eyes.
Jared, Point of clarification regarding Haun's (or Hawn's) Mill. In the April 1997 General Conference, Elder Henry B. Eyring corrected the long-held, false notion that the whole group of people at Haun's Mill rejected the counsel of the Prophet Joseph Smith and chose to stay put. Instead, Elder Eyring stated correctly that Jacob Haun had been counseled but did not convey the message to anyone else. Finding Safety in Counsel By Elder Henry B. Eyring Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles- April 1997 ...“Brother Joseph had sent word by Haun, who owned the mill, to inform the brethren who were living there to leave and come to Far West, but Mr. Haun did not deliver the message” (Philo Dibble, in “Early Scenes in Church History,” in Four Faith Promoting Classics [1968], 90).

My latest in learning about this event is when Christ comes and saints are lifted up and the saints are resurrected which I love because I feel like saints all over the world deserve to be there and then it will be like when Jesus first resurrection and he’ll be with us for 40 days and on day 50 the 144000 servants go forth to all the nations to hunt out as many righteous people as we can. I don’t know.. it just doesn’t makes sense to me that a lot of us wouldn’t know about it.
I read a more detailed history of Haun’s Mill that said Jacob Haun (who was not a member of the church) was warned about the impending danger but chose not to relay the message to the Saints because he had become more prosperous with them living there. So it wasn’t really a case of them not listening to the Prophet as we so often say about this story.
If the sisters no longer veil their faces (since 2019), is that symbolic of the Bridegroom having already come and accepted His bride (the Church) in the wedding feast (or was it just a clothing simplification)?
Someone already mentioned about the acoustic properties of AOA, so if you could keep people quiet, you wouldn't need a sound system and all the accompanying generators. And if the people are recently quickened (which *something* would have to have happened to be in the presence of Christ), maybe they won't need chairs. ... just a nap when they get home
I can’t help but wonder if during the 2020 year much could have happed why we were all hunkered down. My husband and I were living in Western New York and went to Some of the sites. It occurred to me at that quiet time than the world would have no idea if some meetings happened
The church won’t know because only the ones taken by the angels to Adam Ondi Ahman will know. As the scripture puts it WHERE THE EAGLES (angels) 🦅 GATHER. That’s when the wise virgins are not only gathered but quickened, transformed into terrestrial. So maybe with that body they could conceal from the folks around.
When I visited AOA back in 2000, there were a lot of PVC stub-ups up on the hill kind of where you're standing and to the other area you mentioned (28:00). Having been in construction, it seemed that there was something going on. They were regularly spaced, so I made some assumptions. Granted, those assumptions could be, and likely are wrong. But, I know what I saw.

I finally understand the saints. They get to see God they passed the middle class. They're going to be clueless then the lower class. The wicked get the privilege to see God and not the way you want to see him. That's how we have people who will know that Christ is here and also not know that he's here. This is the first time that I have heard anything regarding the St Louis arch. I rather doubt it as an actual entry point but the symbolism is interesting.
Jared Jesus can do anything he wants to do . Jesus can make it so no one can see this place and meeting only those that should . An example would he when Moroni comes in Joseph Smiths shared room and no one else sees him . Al’s many other times when Joseph smith and Sidney Rigdon saw all those things the others in the room did not see. Did you ever think of that ? Just a thought. It happened all the time . Jesus can set up those chairs or angels etc and no one see that is not suppose to see it .

I googled how many square feet is the valley and got almost 13million square feet. If they're standing room only, I would say each person takes 1 1/2 square feet. I think 8 1/2 million people could stand in the valley together.
From Utah. Went to Adam ondi ahmen several years ago in the early spring. It was cold and blustery and I thought. Yep this is definitely a lone and dreary wilderness. Haha

(I mean zero irreverence by sharing this thought of mine.) Obviously fiction, but God CAN do ANYTHING, & there is also all of the science that we don't understand ... like string theory & the unfolding of space & time. I know I'm talking about "weirdo" things, but thinking this way genuinely opens my mind to the possibility of something so outside of the box of my understanding, & yet so incredibly simple for the Lord, to be the methods He might use to fulfill every jot & title. I always heard Pres Youngs letter didn't arrive in time admonishing them to stay peaceful. I've never done any research to find out but that's what I was taught as a teenager.

This is so crazy but several nights ago I had a very brief and strange dream where I was inside a temple (no details whatsoever) but outside of this temple as I walked around and approached the corner or intersection where the road would be it was as if I was suddenly standing at the edge of a very dangerous cliff. The street signs and everything seemed normal and you would not know until you were right there. When you mentioned how steep the hill was it immediately reminded me my strange dream.

As for me, I hold to the more traditional view that each of us who are worthy (no insincere exceptions) will receive an invitation moments before the meeting will take place. In Doctrine and Covenants 27:5-14 we have a beautiful description of this occasion, but verse 14 is the most relevant to this discussion: 14 And also with all those whom my Father hath given me out of the world. As far as travel is concerned, we have numerous accounts of the faithful being carried by the Spirit to exceedingly high mountains etc. so each of us could be transported there almost instantaneously without anyone else knowing. But not before we've had a chance to use the bathroom perhaps! 😛 And what about setup? A certain field being plastered so the Book of Mormon could be translated comes to mind... our deacons and teachers have nothing on a few hundred thousand resurrected Zion inhabitants setting up chairs overnight to prepare! 😉 Keep up the great work!
How do we know that translated beings need to go to the bathroom? I would imagine that many will be fasting during this momentous time. I feel the urge to go lessened when I'm fasting.

While hearing you talk about the “secret meeting” I couldn’t help but think of the video you made about “Secret Prayer”. I loved that video. I believe that doing things in Secret- in that way- is far from being sneaky or hiding things from the people of the Church. Like you showed in the video- If we tell all out loud in our prayers- then The adversary is more likely to be able to get in our way and cause trouble for us. That is why we keep the most important things between ourselves and Him. I think that is why we didn’t hear much about what was going on with buying the Temple.- even so- I heard there were others who made offers.- so it is a blessing that it is in our hands. If the meetings were announced- there would be groups protesting- just like there are at General Conference. And having a Sacred meeting with those who are Called- is much different than what that meeting would invite- spiritually- if people just showed up because They Want to- instead of what God Wants to happen. Did you see the email about Pres Nelson’s quote about “more than 6000 millennia”?
As to reporting, we’ve done reports from day one in this dispensation and they’re all digitalized now. President Nelson could probably carry every one of them on a thumb drive or two in his pocket to give them to Adam, and Adam to the Savior. I’m sure Jesus’ computer is very advanced. 😊
@bobd.8180 5 minutes ago I was told by two attorneys for The Church, and this was AFTER the announcement of the Kirtland Temple, that “WE GOT IT ALL, THEY GOT EVERYTHING! These two attorneys helped with the acquisition of the Kirtland Temple! They did not elaborate beyond that, but I would NOT be surprised to learn more new things during General Conference! Bob D.

Oh my! So much judgement of other members here! What if you are the tare? Jesus will judge and separate the wheat from the tare. How about you refrain from deciding who is what?. A temple recommend does not make an individual a follower of Christ. That’s just for men to see.
Jared, thanks for posting this, My husband and I went to AOD about 15 years ago maybe or a little longer. And the missionaries that were there were telling us how the area didn’t need to set up speakers or anything because the acoustics were so good that you could stand on this one area that they were telling us that was there, and it was somewhere close where the bathrooms were maybe across the way and talk in a normal voice and people down at the other end of the the area could hear. He had a stand quite a ways, and he did it, and we could hear everything he said. I thought that was interesting and I can’t remember anything more as far as where exactly it was, but I’m wondering if they removed that area seems like it was a concrete like set up where a person could speak and have guests below. Did you come in contact with anything like that or hear about anything like that?

Christian, remember that the only way for mortals to see resurrected beings is to be "transfigured". That implication should be considered into any credible discussion about the meeting at Adam ondi Ahman.

I had a dream the day after the SLC earthquake that makes me wonder if it happened then, and that the prophecy Joseph Smith gave was a metaphor. He showed him this great valley to show that the immense amount of saints that would be there to view the 2nd coming. I could be wrong.
People, it's not that hard to understand! At first, he will come in private to the leaders, and then, as Daniel prophesied, 100,000,000 stand before his glory in judgment! This would obviously be after the return of the lost tribes! Read the 7th chapter of Daniel! Christ will also appear there!!!

Our family visited church sites two summers ago. Our kids were so happy there (we have three 14 and younger). We definitely recommend people visit all of the sites. It’s such great history.

I was remarking on his comment on how there is no secret stash of wiring or lights or equipment underground in preparation for the Second Coming. And I agree with him.

I remember our visit to Adam Ondi Ahman back in 1996 I think it was. July. I felt a very special spirit there, hard to describe. It is a sacred place.
Here is something you might find interesting. We used to have the sacrament in our stake conferences when I was young. As the church continued to grow and the sacrament took a large hunk of the meeting they stopped doing it.

Also, won't this huge meeting be after calamities and war clears out that area and the Saints will go to it. I don't think this meeting will look like a stake Conference with chairs, etc. Maybe it will more closely resemble how Adam had his meeting thousands of years ago. Maybe not, I don't know, it's just a thought. I guess when I have always pictured this grand meeting, I never imagined things like chairs and generators.

When we went to Adam-ondi-Ahman in the first part of July, the missionaries there mentioned to our group that the First Presidency had been there the week before to check on the site. We were all pretty surprised.

My family and I are wanting to visit this summer.
I think the Book of Mormon is the perfect text to learn more about this. We have countless examples of individuals and groups that experience visions, visions so real it’s as if they are there physically. I believe AOA was a spiritual event. Those that were prepared experienced it on a certain day and time marked by a sign in the heavens. It felt like they were there at AOA property. But if you were standing at AOA on that day you would have no idea that it was taking place, except maybe the spirit was a little stronger. Most if not all the 144,000 attended, if they were awake and worthy, along with dispensational heads. Adam restored the patriarchal priesthood which opened the 7th seal (each dispensation is a restoration of the priesthood). When we each are found worthy, we will be able to attend this meeting, as if we were there on that day. Not sure if will happen as a large group but could be. I think it’s based on personal worthiness and when we awake, so probably individually based or small group. The world will never know about it, the general church doesn’t know about it, until they each awake and arise. Those that attended/attend will not discuss it. Nephi and other prophets do a great job of discussing this if we’re paying attention. We’re not physical beings having a spiritual experience but spiritual beings having a physical experience. We need to expand oue Earthly thinking and look at everything with eternal, celestial eyes.

Point of clarification regarding Haun's (or Hawn's) Mill.
In the April 1997 General Conference, Elder Henry B. Eyring corrected the long-held, false notion that the whole group of people at Haun's Mill rejected the counsel of the Prophet Joseph Smith and chose to stay put. Instead, Elder Eyring stated correctly that Jacob Haun had been counseled but did not convey the message to anyone else.

My latest in learning about this event is when Christ comes and saints are lifted up and the saints are resurrected which I love because I feel like saints all over the world deserve to be there and then it will be like when Jesus first resurrection and he’ll be with us for 40 days and on day 50 the 144000 servants go forth to all the nations to hunt out as many righteous people as we can.
I don’t know.. it just doesn’t makes sense to me that a lot of us wouldn’t know about it.
I read a more detailed history of Haun’s Mill that said Jacob Haun (who was not a member of the church) was warned about the impending danger but chose not to relay the message to the Saints because he had become more prosperous with them living there. So it wasn’t really a case of them not listening to the Prophet as we so often say about this story.

I’ve always understood it to be a priesthood meeting. A solemn assembly. Which would not include everyone.
When I visited AOA back in 2000, there were a lot of PVC stub-ups up on the hill kind of where you're standing and to the other area you mentioned (28:00). Having been in construction, it seemed that there was something going on. They were regularly spaced, so I made some assumptions. Granted, those assumptions could be, and likely are wrong. But, I know what I saw.

I googled how many square feet is the valley and got almost 13million square feet. If they're standing room only, I would say each person takes 1 1/2 square feet. I think 8 1/2 million people could stand in the valley together.

This is so crazy but several nights ago I had a very brief and strange dream where I was inside a temple (no details whatsoever) but outside of this temple as I walked around and approached the corner or intersection where the road would be it was as if I was suddenly standing at the edge of a very dangerous cliff. The street signs and everything seemed normal and you would not know until you were right there. When you mentioned how steep the hill was it immediately reminded me my strange dream.

As for me, I hold to the more traditional view that each of us who are worthy (no insincere exceptions) will receive an invitation moments before the meeting will take place. In Doctrine and Covenants 27:5-14 we have a beautiful description of this occasion, but verse 14 is the most relevant to this discussion:
14 And also with all those whom my Father hath given me out of the world.
As far as travel is concerned, we have numerous accounts of the faithful being carried by the Spirit to exceedingly high mountains etc. so each of us could be transported there almost instantaneously without anyone else knowing. But not before we've had a chance to use the bathroom perhaps! 😛 And what about setup? A certain field being plastered so the Book of Mormon could be translated comes to mind... our deacons and teachers have nothing on a few hundred thousand resurrected Zion inhabitants setting up chairs overnight to prepare! 😉

While hearing you talk about the “secret meeting”
I couldn’t help but think of the video you made about “Secret Prayer”.
I loved that video.
I believe that doing things in Secret- in that way- is far from being sneaky or hiding things from the people of the Church.
Like you showed in the video-
If we tell all out loud in our prayers- then The adversary is more likely to be able to get in our way and cause trouble for us. That is why we keep the most important things between ourselves and Him.
I think that is why we didn’t hear much about what was going on with buying the Temple.- even so- I heard there were others who made offers.- so it is a blessing that it is in our hands.
If the meetings were announced- there would be groups protesting- just like there are at General Conference.
And having a Sacred meeting with those who are Called- is much different than what that meeting would invite- spiritually- if people just showed up because They Want to- instead of what God Wants to happen.

As to reporting, we’ve done reports from day one in this dispensation and they’re all digitalized now. President Nelson could probably carry every one of them on a thumb drive or two in his pocket to give them to Adam, and Adam to the Savior. I’m sure Jesus’ computer is very advanced. 😊

I was told by two attorneys for The Church, and this was AFTER the announcement of the Kirtland Temple, that “WE GOT IT ALL, THEY GOT EVERYTHING! These two attorneys helped with the acquisition of the Kirtland Temple! They did not elaborate beyond that, but I would NOT be surprised to learn more new things during General Conference! Bob D.

Jared, thanks for posting this, My husband and I went to AOD about 15 years ago maybe or a little longer. And the missionaries that were there were telling us how the area didn’t need to set up speakers or anything because the acoustics were so good that you could stand on this one area that they were telling us that was there, and it was somewhere close where the bathrooms were maybe across the way and talk in a normal voice and people down at the other end of the the area could hear. He had a stand quite a ways, and he did it, and we could hear everything he said. I thought that was interesting and I can’t remember anything more as far as where exactly it was, but I’m wondering if they removed that area seems like it was a concrete like set up where a person could speak and have guests below. Did you come in contact with anything like that or hear about anything like that?
I went to AOA in 1993 and experienced those natural acoustics. It’s true!

Christian, remember that the only way for mortals to see resurrected beings is to be "transfigured". That implication should be considered into any credible discussion about the meeting at Adam ondi Ahman.

I had a dream the day after the SLC earthquake that makes me wonder if it happened then, and that the prophecy Joseph Smith gave was a metaphor. He showed him this great valley to show that the immense amount of saints that would be there to view the 2nd coming. I could be wrong.
