  • If your Begonia Maculata plant is dying it most likely isn’t getting enough sun. This houseplant needs 5-7 hours or bright indirect light a day. It is advise that you find a brighter window in your house that receives more sunlight and try to move the plant closer to this window. This house plant is considered a highlighting plant and desires 5 to 7 hours of medium to high indirect lighting daily.
You may also find the leaves on your Polka Dot Begonia starting to turn brown because the watering schedule is not correct. this is also tied in with lighting. If your plan isn’t getting enough lighting it is also not drying off the soil and sometimes it can be come to moist. If the soil doesn’t properly dry out in between watering the plants the roots can start to rot due to my fungus in the soil that grows when there’s too much moisture.
It’s very important that you try to mix adequate amounts of fighting with proper watering schedule to ensure this plant thrives. On average most plant keepers fine if they water this plant once a week and give it 5 to 7 hours of high lighting every day.
The tips of the leaves may be turning brown on your polka dot begonia on your plant because of your tap water. It’s fairly common for a lot of sensitive house plants to start to turn brown on the tips of the leaves due to the elements in your water. Things such as salt or chlorine can sometimes make the tips of your leaves brown.
It’s also very common for house plants to start losing leaves because something is wrong with the root structure. Your plant could possibly be super dehydrated of water or possibly getting too much water. Try to find that middle balance when it comes to giving your plants water.

My begonia has lost all of its leaves. It is in a good spot for light and gets plenty. This polka dot plant was doing great when I first got it and now all of the leaves are gone as of today. It did sprout some new baby leaves, but that stem broke off and now it is in a container of water to help regrow roots. I love this plant and want to save it.

My son brought home a nearly dead (Store Discount!) Spotted Begonia 6 years ago. It came back to life beautifully, and looked much like yours for years until the last 1 almost 2 years.
I have read that begonias (like the annual garden type?) can live up to 3 or 4 years if kept well. How long do Spotted Begonia Maculatas live?
Can I propagate this plant if it is at the end of its lifespan?
Love your Living space & video.
    Thanks!

Hey buddy! I just bought my Begonia Maculata today and it has some leaves that have brown-dry spots and others that have translucent spots.. I’m hoping I can save her 😣

I have a sun room that faces North/East. Is it good, for this begonia?

I recently purchased a begonia from a store who had them lined up along a busy road. the leaves are brown and curled, still alive cause theres new growth... but im wondering if i should just trim all the leaves off again and offer some fertiliser? Im planning on purchasing a slightly larger pot soon but we are in the process of moving to a house with a sun room.
