  • This is a brief demo of a pair of Tama Octobans. They are 14" & 16" deep x 6" head diameter. Heads are Remo clear C.S. batters. These are from the 1980's era (same type as Stewart Copeland used during his original Police days). They were once owned by hard rock drummer Loni Silva ( Impellitteri EP 1987).

All this time, I never knew what these things sounded like. Thanks.

are those tuned too high? I am looking to replace the head on mine, and you have controlled sound heads, which I am considering, but I hear so much sustain with the tingy overtone, i am wondering what you have found in owning them/tuning them/ what other heads you think work well

Hi Michael, I used a Sony Cybershot point and shoot digital camera. This type of camera doesn't capture much low end frequencies. The drums were not tuned too high from what I recall. The CS heads still leave some ring. I have had Remo coated ambassadors on these drums before and they sounded a bit drier.

COOL! thanks for the feedback, I ended up getting the CS black dot and I love the bouncey pop it creates and how much it punches through the cymbals. Great for both reggae and prog rock vibes
