Brilliant idea to have these great prerecorded interviews/conversations during the holidays so we the Pate State fanatics can still get our content and y’all can get some well-earned time off to spend with family.
Great show bro
Tessitore spitting fire on the health of the sport! the holiday speaker series is 2 for 2 so far
Josh, love your show. However, you might want to go back and watch the ACC championship. When you do, please turn up the volume. Joe and Jessee got the point across.
This was a FANTASTIC episode. Loved it. You and Tes were amazing. Merry Christmas to you all. Thank you Josh for bringing the fans this amazing content
If college football doesn't get the money and the transfer thing under control we will lose college football as we know it! I'm an Alabama fan and the current way they do things favors my team but we have to get the boosters out of paying for players and restrict the transferring a bit!
FAM-U pronounced Fam-you
This was a good interview. Entertaining to hear in-depth opinions and reasons behind the thoughts. It was cool to see a different side of Joe other than "announcer".
That’s why I enjoyed holy moly so much
This speaker series simply must become an annual occurrence. Brilliant work
"The College Football Committee didn't screw the ACC and FSU, the ACC screwed the ACC and FSU." - Vince McMahon on finding out that the ACC helped prevent a 12-team playoff that was initially scheduled to begin in 2023, probably.
This was absolutely phenomenal
The way he pronounces FAMU like shamoo has me dead
Made me audibly laugh
That made me bust out laughing
The problem I have with the idea to separate football is the "they don't go to school" part. Take a team like Alabama or Georgia who lead the NFL draft every year lately. How many of the 200+ players on those teams are getting drafted or signing as free agents after the draft? 20? School is for the other 180. What do they do after football if they play football without the school?
Absolutely. This is another TV guy who doesn’t really care about the sport
I'm not a fan of Joe Tessitore, but I have a newfound respect for his authentic love of college football. I viewed it as fake authenticity, but with his take on his family serving Italian food to Boston College football players were really cool!
Best interview I’ve ever seen on Late Kick! I’ve always enjoyed Joe Tessitore as an announcer, but I absolutely loved hearing him speak so eloquently and intellectually about the sport and illustrate his passion and caring for the sport in the process. This is why Josh and Late Kick are the bomb for College Football Fans (not necessarily for the casuals). I could have listened to 2 hours of this. I hope Joe can do more of this as I’d love to see and hear more of his views. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Authentic passion from
Ole JOE ❤!!! Kudos to
Josh for pulling out the
REAL. JOE TESS😮❤!!!
Interesting how a committee can exist with ambiguous and subjective terms for teams to get in to the playoffs. What is it based on? Why are no explanations given as to why teams are admitted in or left out?
Why are no explanations given = I didn’t agree with your explanation
Precisely! And the even bigger question to me that no one is talking about.....How can an entity that owns the media that generates the revenue for the sport almost exclusively AND that organized the playoff and the committee that dictates it also be financially invested in a participant or group of participants in that playoff?!?! How is that not clear conflict of interest???
@@j.akelly9775 it’s not that, it’s that the committee gave no explanation. A lot of TV/podcast/radio analysts have, but not the committee themselves. I actually think the Michigan vs Bama game will be a better game but it still sucks for FSU.
They’re not required to give explanations, hence the subjectivity. If there were objective standards to hold them to, then they would have to answer for the choices they make
FSU would have given Bama a better game than Michigan.
So regretful to have missed this last night. But oh so happy to get my first Christmas present bright and early Christmas morning! Another terrific show, JP. Tess was another gift in the speaker series we didn't know we needed. Thanks for the time and effort you put into your show to keep Pate State entertaining and relevant to all of us "students"Merry Christmas to all!
Tes, i thought FSU's win was more impressive! Never saw you so defensive. 2011 ND/FSU Bowl game one of your Greatest!! Where have you gone? Nothing worse than waisted talent😢.
How dare people who have been relentlessly attacked and made the targets of multiple ridiculous conspiracy theories be defensive 😂
Never mentioned Conspiracy, little green men: Simply that Joseph is one of my favorite voices, especially when it is a Florida State FB game! Leaving FSU out of the playoffs was simply why College Football is not recognized in NY, NJ and Ct.(20 million people)!😢 True it is a PRO town but what a PR error. Every one in this Country Knows" Fear The Spear". Just an opinion from a retired D1 football/Wrestler and Coach😮. Hopefully someday😅!!
Best moments... "I love going to Oregon Games." And, "I love going to USC games, when they're good" 😁
Players should have to come in and earn real advertising money from real companies, plain and simple! NOT BOOSTERS!
Honestly that's what I thought it was going to be. From Dr. Pepper, Nissan, Barbasol to the local used car lot and laundromat.
That’s actually what NIL was supposed to be, kids that have earned brand recognition can capitalize on revenue. But the NCAA put no rules around it and now it’s just turned into a recruiting slush fund for unproven commodities.
@kevinjobe2078 I'm a Bama fan so it helps us but it's horrible for college football. The big money teams will always be on top!
He got the co-host of Holey Moley? He hit the big time
I have again heard about Malik Murphy and how he UNIQUELY was put in some position that FORCED him to keave Texas. Still don't get it. Am I the only one who doesn’t? Of course, the CFB calendar is a train wreck. How does that calendar impact Murphy in a way no one else, in any way, associated with the sport, is affected?
Merry Christmas FSU....coal in the FSU stocking for you!!!! LOL
How about teams are owned by a university's alumni with sponsorship by the college that owns the university's brand name like "Ohio State Bucyeyes"?
Joe use to be my favorite anouncer! Credibility😢!! Anyway, Merry Xmas John and Joe.
Sigh. You can't compare MLB to College Football because baseball doesn't vote for who goes to the playoffs. Be better.
Jesse Palmer is everywhere! Am I the only one who sees what we didn't get? A side by side comparison of Jesse Palmer and "Jesse Pate"? Suspicious, 🤔 hhhmmm.
So if players do not attend classes, just name it Junior NFL with teams sponsored by willing colleges?
Rewarding the teams who ripped other conferences apart in pursuit of the sec and big ten by giving them extra brownie points for seasons with 2-4 losses is an absolutely terrible precedent to create. Those teams and conferences should have to deal with the consequences of ripping apart the structure of college football. Not giving them the benefit of the doubt on a 9 win season should be a minimum of the price they should pay.
The beginning of this had me worried, talking about getting rid of academics and 2 leagues etc. making it NFL jr. Don’t know if it was sarcasm or not but the end of this talking about the tradition and what it means was great. I don’t know how to go back how it was but we have to figure it out.
This was a great episode. I hope you continue these series weekly in the off-season as well.
Has Josh Pate stopped lifting weights??? His pecs and biceps are shrinking faster than he can post videos.
For example ACC was 4-3 B10 and 6-4 SEC this year and then the SEC/B10 were (7-9)/(5-8) overall versus all the conferences. So this year and then moving forward with the transfer portal, NIL and the expanded playoff will continue to spread the talent around the country similar to back before the 2000's.
Those are cool stats, but you're completely misusing them because they aren't being put into context. There are Power 5 conferences that didn't even face each other this year. Each conference played a different number of OoC games. The seeding of games were often uneven relative to conference standings.
BTW, the 6th place SEC East team beat the #2 ACC team. The 6th place SEC West team beat the #3 PAC12 team.
80% of the top 25 recruiting classes reside in 2 conferences. The other 20% is either independent (Notre Dame) or are actively trying to leave the ACC.
I'm certain that people will be citing conference bowl records as they unfold - of course to laugh at whatever conference they don't like - even though bowl records are irrelevant in the current landscape of the sport and have been for a few years. I used to leverage them in arguments/debates, but with opt outs and transfers there's little relevant to that data now.
Tell FSU that it matters. Does winning really matter?
Players are contracted by the llc of a university's alumni members.
I mean, Joe spent the entire episode proving he has an SEC (and B1G) bias... so...
I stop watching espn because of Joe Testitore one of the most biased uncomfortable people to ever listen to
I don’t know if I can watch this sport anymore. Who says we want this to be more like the nfl?
What!!!! Perfect timing.
Another good sit down! Thanks!
You can’t say you watched alabama all season and said they were a top 4 team Lmfao that’s bullshit
Joe Tess is the best in the business in my opinion, should I say he's Holey Moley good?
One of the best podcasts you have presented sir. Excellent content
Please tell Joe it’s pronounced FAM - U, not FAM - Moo.
Nothing cooler than watching Tennessee film in a rainforest in Costa Rica 🍊
How can I find out the itinerary for the Alabama team ?
Did he just say Fam Moo? It’s FAM-U…😅
Tessitore is one of my favs calling a game.
Josh what a great interview. Enjoyed the conversation about where college football is heading. Keep up the great work.
A couple of hacks, hacking it up,
These are going to be good...
FSU pitched a fit, folded their arms stomped their feet and said NO! NO! NO! to a 12 playoff system because they objected to Texas and ou into the SEC and it kicked them in the ass.
🤷♂️ so look at the FSU leadership with a side eye and some blame.
I kinda like the old AFL/NFL idea for the Big 10 and SEC. If we did that in this final 4 playoff format it would mean (realistically) Ohio State vs. Michigan plays the winner of UGA vs Bama. 95% of humans think those are the 4 best teams anyway.
Honestly Josh… I really thought you were taking up for the actual sport. Kansas can still beat Oklahoma. NC State can beat Clemson. Louisville can beat Notre Dame…. Why are these TV people pushing toward a minor league? Please use your platform to push back!
Respectfully, the thumbnails need a changeup
I don't even like On3, but I click on his videos really quickly when I see the thumbnails.
Merry Christmas Josh and Joe....i didn't recognize Josh at first with that black T-shirt on 😂😅😂😅... RTR
Josh Pate for president!!
Always enjoy the content, which progrum would you deem the MOST successful in this portal cycle and why?
Pate is college football Jesus
Minute 29... So true. Your are the best!!! Husband loves watching your show
Joe is an absolute legend
We have the four team playoff where people decided because nobody liked old BCS based on computer models? Don't go back that way.
Best show ever! Joe Tess is the best!
I remember as a kid before college football coverage went from radio to tv coverage as a Ga Tech fan tuning into a football game between LSU and Tech, the loudness of that stadium in Baton Rouge for a night game was above anything else for an away game. There was nothing else like it and we are talking very early 60's
Merry Christmas Joshua
Oh Tess, LOTS of people had problems with the broadcast in real time.
This is an amazing series. I don’t like the Joe Hates on AU. But I do like him.
Committees are politics, and the media is the propaganda. It’s the biggest flaw of our favorite sport. The fact that we assign rankings and don’t rely on standings is what makes our favorite sport the dumbest in the world.
This entire podcast was “all wins are not equal” and yet you heard none of it? Lmao
@@TheAaronsullivan92 that is the problem with the sport. In my opinion a system needs to be put into place where wins dont need to be judged at all. Set clear guidelines for the postseason like the NFL. Despite what joe says I feel the conference autobid is a great change, because it sets a clear goal for how you can make the postseason. Maybe since the B12 and ACC will be significantly worse then B10 and SEC they should get an autobid w/out a first round bye to make the harder strength of schedule mean something. Anything is better then a committee of old folk doing their "eye test"
Kind of hard to do that with like 130 teams in multiple different conferences of different strength who rarely play each other if at all
@@RD-cp1xgand yet, they have yet to be wrong. Name a year where they left out a team that actually had a snowballs chance of winning. Thats much better that letting a 9-3 pac12 champ in to be blown off the rails.
@@givemeabreakdoc well for one this year, also 2018 and 2014 with ohio state and tcu respectively
Love Joe thanks for the show. Only thing I hate is bc as a Texas fan is he said the first Texas is back 🤣
Great episode Josh
Wanna wish u and ur family a merry Christmas
Great Interview and Insight from you and Joe.
Awesome interview
This was top tier
Great interview!
Joe is legit!!🐊
Arkansas, Miss State, Mizzou (most years), Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina and Ole Miss are not overwhelming compared to other conferences. The top of the SEC give a slanted view of that conference. Heck, right now should any team be afraid of playing A&M, Tennessee or Auburn?
it’s simply because of the SEC talent level which is more times than not better than the other conferences, (less so now because NIL)
which is why a team like Texas A&M who’s been mediocre recently would still be favored over other conference teams
and why a middle of the pack teams like Mizzou or Ole Miss would be favored over the middle of the pack teams in other conferences
Bàma hàdñt been in there jàñ 6 would have been mild
Loved this with Joe T. Go Noles!🍢
I’ll watch these shows all day every day.
Are you trying to get a job with these clowns? Think I am wrong, bet on their picks.
huh?
Doesn’t get any better than Tess!!!!
Fantasy land click bait to think it’s gonna be semi pro and detach from schools
Do you have any idea how clickbait works?
You need to get Brian Jones on!!
I’m so tired of hearing about FSU they are a tier 3 program
That teir 3 program kicked LSU’s ass
Malik Murphy wants to quit his job for a better job...but still go to the Christmas Party. Thats not how the real world works.
You're so far off its not even funny.
@@jacobantony9033 couldn't think of an example ?
This crybaby session is certainly a choice. Happy holidays.
Casual?????
Please interview U. Of Colorado Buffalos HC next. Thanks!
I’ve always respected Tess but I walked away from this interview absolutely blown away by him. Thanks for this interview.
