But with the lowest Proof ever at 125.9 Proof! Is that a good thing?? Or is it Greed? Find out!!

Which Stagg is your favorite? How much would you pay for a Stagg?
So this is a super hard question to answer. Now I did a Stagg Jr Madness with the first 17 bottles of Stagg Jr. We did have a winner. So I won't ruin it. But I just love grabbing a bottle off my shelf and pouring it. I have really enjoyed a few store picks as well. cheers

Batches15, 17, 23a. Stagg JR has a following so under $200 is a take for most people.

Finally got a Stagg 23A today at the suggested retail price of $57. I am so happy. Also, got an EH Taylor Small Batch and EH Taylor Single Barrel along with Stagg at the suggested retail price. Today was a really good day.

Great review. Unfortunately for me Stagg is running $300 plus around me. I have tried batch 22A , 16, and 18. That is the order I would rank them in. Also want to say I think reviews are the hardest content to make. Yours is some of the best out there. Appreciate the work

I love my Staggs but it is now getting to the point where it is better to "keep" them than it is to drink them. They are great, but $300 is just too steep. Again, hopefully with the increase production at Buffalo trace and other distillers stepping up their game, it will get easier to obtain over time.

Just landed this batch and it was the first one I ever bought. I was tired of hunting for Stagg jr and just decided to pay secondary. Definitely did not disappoint
Hey Janoy! I must say, if you don't enjoy the hunting or don't have the time to do so (I enjoy it and make the time to do it 😆), it's probably best to find a reasonable secondary price and just purchase it, especially if you had a pour and know you like it. The time, gas, and wear & tear you save is probably going to be the same as if you purchased it MSRP sometimes, especially if you hate to hunt or have small talk with store employees.

I just walked into one of my local stores the only one I’ve never been in. Struck up a conversation with the owner. He ends up telling me he has this bottle for 61.99. Can’t wait to get home and try it

Great video. I picked up 23C recently and it's my first one. Absolutely delicious and it's one of top bourbon of the year. Had to pay little under secondary.. wish I couldve picked it up MSRP. Good seeing you at the TW!

Darn. Did not know you had 23C. I sent a sample of it in the package you will get hand delivered Friday. Oh well. I enjoy it, but my favorite is still 22A. Great review as always. I had a chance to get a 2nd 23C, but picked up another Baker’s 13 instead. Happy New Year! 🥃
Hey Dave! For this batch, I will take all of it as it's a delicious pour! Thank you so much! I usually don't get back ups of Stagg (mainly due to the fact that I can't get two, let alone one) and choosing the Bakers 13 over a back up is a good idea. I like 23C slightly over the 22A but honestly, if I go back to it tonight, I might change that opinion 😆.

Which is sweeter?
@@nicholasgarcia7830 in terms of pure sweetness, 22A is sweeter as I got more fruit sweetness along with sugar. While 23C was the maple sweetness with coffee bitterness. Hopefully this was helpful!

I have that just slightly behind the 23C (in term of experience score), but maybe I'll go back to it soon and revisit it to see for myself again. Outstanding review! At times it doesn't hurt to have a low proof and this sounds like its on point. Yea, I can't find a Stagg at MSRP and the closest I was able to snag one was when Total Wine had their drop earlier this month and all gone by the time I got there. I do see them at other locations,but 200-300 bills, I'll pass. I use to get them with ease, but ever since I restarted my bourbon journey, I've had no luck. 😄 Keep up the amazing content and cheers!
Hey Jesus! It is sad to see this great bottle not being available as it should be! A bourbon lover and hunter like you should be able to get one 😅. At least at reasonable prices.
But the low proof really helps out this batch and it seems they used "lower" level barrels more as it is smooth and oily more than spice and hot.

Hey Stooders! Old Overholt 10 should be my next review as I had the bottle on the queue for a while and I can't wait to open it and see how it is! Hopefully the 3 batches a year from Stagg is a continuing trend and not a one time thing so there is more supply of it and increase our chances of getting our hands on it at a reasonable price! (increase chances might still be small, but increase is an increase). If you get your hands on a Stagg batch in 23 or 24, let me know how you like it and if it met your expectations!

Hey Vic! Let's talk about how I can hand you off some of this Stagg so you can see for yourself if you like this "low proof" Stagg! I was thinking about the 3rd batch, but it being so low proof, I don't think it'll be a collector's item and with the increase in production, I'm hoping there will be 3rd and 4th batches a year!!
If I find one at $60 again, I should sign up for a lottery or something else as it will probably not happen again.
My next review will be the Old Overholt but fast tracked the Stagg as I really wanted to get this one in before the year end.

Great review! I got lucky yesterday Total Wine up here in Santa Rosa had Batch 23B on the shelf (for about 2 hrs 😂) also $60!!! Limit one per though 😢 I've never paid more than $90 for Stagg Jr, and I'd probable pay up to $120 but no more bc I have too many bottles already (not of Stagg just in general!). I also have the Batch 18 but haven't opened it yet. I've only tried 14, 15 and 22B. 15 is definitley the sweetest flavor punch, but I really like the darker more aged profile of 22B. Cheers!
Thank you for the awesome compliment! That 23B is a great catch! I agree it's at most a $120 bottle, but there is that sentimental value of having that bottle so sometimes people just can't beat that emotion. Just like I did when I bought my first Stagg. Not a great memory.
You have tried some nice batches and I agree that 15 is probably the best of the bunch! 18 is probably the most spice forward of the batches and for me, 23C was great due to it's mellow sweet and coffee note, but many people like the 22A and 22B more.
Let me know what you think of the 23B and how it compares to 22A and 22B.

Ive only purchased Stagg at retail $49.99 in NC but if i see it at $100-150 i'd get multiple if i can. 🤷🏾♂️

I've not seen a Stagg (Jr) on the shelf for under 2 hundo in a long time, so I've not been able to pick up any new batches that being said, i dont think you can lose with any of the bottle versions. Your descriptions are ever so enticing
Hey Marvin! It seems if you're going to get any batch, 22A is the one from the majority of the comments and their favorite the last couple of batches. From my notes, 23C was better (score wise), but if I go back to it tonight, that might change! Cracked it last night…was not a fan! I picked up on a clay/magic marker note that I get from TX whiskeys. It surprised me, as I LOVE 22A! I will give it a 2nd chance before I commit to that, though. Thanks for the review!

I can how my "black coffee" note could be like a "clay or magic marker" note. Hopefully when you go back to it, it'll be a little different as I really enjoyed it. I got one at retail. I've had Stagg in the past. It's a tough bottle to open when someone is willing to pay more than 3x for it.
Hey Robert! I absolutely agree! When the value of the bottle is higher than the actual experience, it is hard to open and not just "test the market". I didn't want to review Staggs but this one intrigued me due to the low proof and it being a 3rd batch this year. Luckily, it was very delicious!

Nice review! I got lucky when I walked into the local BevMo a couple of weeks ago and they just unloaded a case of Stagg 23c, I grabbed one for 72.00 bucks! First and only Stagg I’ve ever had. Very nice pour, but no others to compare:(

If you got that lucky, no need to compare to other batches and just enjoy the one you have~ FOMO is hard to beat but have a pour of your Stagg and let that smooth away~ I'm hoping there will be more releases and batches in 2024 so we'll get "lucky" more often with Stagg and have other batches to compare it to.

It's going for $259 and up around my area and imo not worth it with as much batch to batch variation. The fomo is strong with this one though so instead of being priced along the lines of E.Craig BP's it's unobtainable for most. I've just picked up my 2nd one. LOVED the 22A which was my first
Hey Mark! It seems many of the comments suggest 22A is better than this batch (23C). I like the coffee note in the 23C over the 22A, but both are delicious and if I do a side by side comparison tonight, I'm sure I might like the 22A better. It is a gamble on the batch to batch variance but that's what also makes the bourbon and Stagg more exciting as you never know what you're going to get once you open that bottle!

I got a friend trying to trade for my stagg 23c he’s offering still Austin CS store pick and still Austin CS rye. I’m in Maine and don’t see SA bottles at all. Is that a good deal for me?
For me, I would not do that. Still Austin will eventually come to your area but stagg will always be hard to get. Only exception would be if the store pick was Nancy Fraley's pick from the distillery (it's only sold at the distillery).

I payed $62 for the stagg and I’m sure it’s great but I can get a 2for1 with the still Austin’s which total comes to like $150. So idk.. but yeah in Maine we see nothing it’s very very sad

Hey Ru! Fight the FOMO and wait for another sale! With Dry January coming up, I'm hoping there will be more sales this year as it seems liquor stores are having boxes of bourbons they thought would sell out. At least in my area, Elijah Craig private barrels and even Four Roses Single Barrel Barrel Strength picks are sitting on shelves for a long time so there is hope for a sale. I would definitely buy at $120, but wait at $200. The most I would pay if I can't fight my FOMO would be $150. But if the FOMO wins and you get a bottle, let me know how you like it and if you agree or disagree with my review!

If possible could a blind between Stagg, JD SB BP and another high proof Bourbon be done? In curious to see who would win. For me Stagg Jr is good up to $130 all in to get it off your bucket list. Anymore and it’s just not that good. For me it’s good but not $200+ good.
He Dean! $130 is a fair price point for a Stagg. I'm hoping it will come down to that price point in 2024 with more batches and more releases. I do a lot of blind privately to test myself and to see what I enjoy, but I won't be doing them on video anytime soon. The reason is... It's boring to watch. I recorded myself doing blinds and when I re-watched it, it was boring AF. If I put that out in public, I might use all my subs, including you. Hopefully I can improve my "boringness" when doing blinds in the future so I can actually put out videos, but for now, these will have to do.

I would never pay over $60 for Stagg. I get mine during the buy 6 save 20% off at Vons/Albertsons. I have the 131.1 proof batch plus 22A and 23C. Both the latter taste very similar to me and I prefer them to the 131.1 proof bottle I have.

If I had a choice, I would never pay over $60 for Stagg, but sometimes reality with demand higher than supply (at $60 for sure), only thing liquor stores can do is raise the price to balance it out. Considering prices for some decent bourbon is now $70 to $120, I would pay $120 for a bottle of Stagg if it meant I could just walk into a store and walk out 😁.
Some people don't drink enough to become good clients or don't have the personality or patience to build relationship, which is unfortunate. I have both but it seems I'm not doing a good job of it as I get no BTAC or Pappys 😆. I need to learn your secrets 😉.

@@WhiskeyBank I see your point. I mainly hunt Costco or the local markets so the price is set. There are some stores like Cypress Craft and OC Bottle shop close by and offer at $100 or more. I would pay more for a store pick of Stagg just because I’ve never had one.
@@jimbird1985 Stagg store picks are such a gamble as it is really up to the "picker" on how they like it. I ask the store manager or owner who picked it and if they like sweeter or more spicier whiskeys as for Stagg, sweeter seems to be better as it will have more of the fruit sweetness than caramel. I only had two store picks, but they were fantastic!
I try to shop at Costco, Vons, Ralph's, or Stater Brothers, but it's so random. I need to start building relationships over there more. I will give it a shot in 2024!

I have not seen any of the 23 releases. They typically run $200-$400 when you see it.
Hey Michael! That's tough. It's about the same here, but I guess as I hunt more and get to know where to go at what times, it seems I get "lucky" more often than I used to. I do spend a lot of time hunting so if I think about all the time and mileage I spent to get this bottle, maybe $200 a bottle isn't so bad (gas is expensive.....). Hopefully you will find a bottle of Stagg at a reasonable price soon! I'm being serious when I say that in 2024, I believe Stagg will be "easier" to get at "reasonable" prices at your local stores. "Easier" doesn't mean easy but if you have a local store you visit often, I think you'll be able to do so.

보통 랄프스(어느 슈퍼마켓 이든 같아요) 에서는 스태그를 절대 밖에 꺼내 놓지를 않아서요. 리커쪽 담당자 직원분을 만나셔서 직접 물어보셔야지 뒤에서 갖고 와준답니다...
정말 운이 좋으시면 줄수도 있겠지만 우선은 자주 가서 얼굴도장을 찍고 그들과 좋은 relationship 을 갖으셔야 좋은 위스키를 받을 확률이 높습니다.... !

Hey Clay! I do not have a Shiba, but I do have two dogs, a terrier (mix) and a sheltie. My wife loved the sweater with the Shiba so I got two (one with a smaller Shiba is on another video). This is the first time I got a compliment on my outfit! Thanks a ton!

Sweeter than 22a?
Hey Nicholas! As mentioned in the previous comment, I don't think the 23C is sweeter than the 22A as 22A has a little more fruit sweetness along with the brown sugar notes while 23C has maple but very little fruit. I'll need to do a comparison again sometime soon as I drink too much to remember it all 😆.

Hey M! Lucky person you are!! I only got 2 bottles of Stagg at MSRP in my lifetime, let alone one batch. But hopefully this means the allocation is getting better (better doesn't mean good) and in 2024, it will be a little bit easier to find Stagg at MSRP. Hopefully.

I picked up a unique minty finish on with my first pour. Not getting the coffee flavor but the bottle may evolve after being opened.
@@m.687 I might be more sensitive to that coffee note as I have too much coffee in the morning 😆. Maybe I need to cut back on the coffee and drink more whiskey 😂. I wish my wife would do that same but I'll live with her not complaining about my weekly hauls 😄! Cheers~

Hey Freedom! I heard Florida is not the best place for Buffalo trace products (eagle rare, blantons, stagg, etc.). Hope there are good alternatives in your area like 13th Colony or ASW from Georgia until you find a bottle of Stagg at a reasonable price.

Hey Darrell! Stagg is great but there are wonderful and great bottles out there that are probably just as good or better. Like you mentioned JDSBBP and Rye are both fantastic, but so are Old forester BS picks, Russell's picks, K.luke, Doc Holladay, ASW, 13th Colony, etc. Wish I had the money to buy them all! (And an extra liver to drink it 🤣).

Hey Mike! It is a hard to get bottle but I'm hoping in 2024, it will be easier (not easy, but just a little easier) to get! It seems supply is going up and if they keep doing 3 batches a year, that's just another opportunity to get one!
