    I'm adding 15 minutes of this exercise as part of my daily routine (2-3 hours of practice per day)
    day 1 (27/01/23): 130 bpm START
    day 2 (28/01): 140-150 bpm
    day 3 (29/01): 150 bpm
    day 4 (30/01): 150-160 bpm
    day 5 (31/01): 160 bpm
    day 6 (01/02): 160 bpm
    day 7 (02/02): 160-170 bpm FIRST WEEK
    day 8 (03/02): 170 bpm
    day 9 (04(02): 170 bpm
    day 10 (05/02): 170 bpm
    day 11 (06/02): 170-180 bpm
    day 12 (07/02): 170-180 bpm
    day 13 (08/02): 180 bpm
    day 14 (09/02): no routine due to sickness SECOND WEEK
    day 15 (10/02): no routine due to sickness
    day 16 (11/02): 170-180 bpm
    day 17 (12/02): 170-180 bpm
    day 18 (13/02): 180 bpm
    day 19 (14/02): 180-190 bpm
    day 20 (15/02): 190 bpm
    day 21 (16/02): 180-190 bpm THIRD WEEK
    day 22 (17/02): 180-190 bpm
    day 23 (18/02): 180-190 bpm
    day 24 (19/02): 180-190 bpm
    day 25 (20/02): 180-190 bpm
    day 26 (21/02): 190 bpm
    day 27 (22/02): 190 bpm
    day 28 (23/02): 190 bpm FOURTH WEEK
    this was very good, and i'm not a lover of insane speed exercises, i will be back to this to reach the 200 bpm goal

    When I first started this workout, I was really struggling even with 110 BPM. After 2 weeks or so without any progress, I happened to watch your video on picking technique and I realised that my picking was seriously wrong. Literally two days after I fixed my technique I found myself able to do 150 BPM!! Thanks a lot Bernth!! Your video saved me years of practice!

    After 10 days of practicing I've reached Bernth's warm-up speed. I think, 4 weeks won't be enough to make it to 200BPM. :D

      me too man, me too (took me 11 days to be able to play 100bpm smoothly)
      110 seems okay for now... (but definetly not perfect)

    One unexpected thing that helped me massively improve my picking technique, literally immediately, was to play in front of a mirror. That way I was able to fix the amplitude of my picking motion, and to correct the position of my right hand and forearm in a way that I was able to pick cleanly and consistently. Give it a try y'all!

    Day 1 (28/11/2022) : sloppy 100bpm
    Day 2 (29) : slightly better at 100bpm, still struggling with the 2nd pattern
    Day 3 (30) : same results except the 2nd pattern feels a lil bit less hard now (at 100bpm)
    Day 4 (01/12) : getting used to moving fingers in synchronization
    Day 5 (02) : again
    Day 6 (03) : tried 110bpm but its currently too fast (also can somewhat fc 100bpm if my fingers move quickly enough)
    Day 7 (04) : smoother on 100bpm, still struggling on 110bpm
    Day 8 (05) : same as yesterday
    Day 9 (06) : 120bpm is too fast for me rn, 110 is kinda ok and 100 feels better
    Day 10 (07) : 100 almost FC'd, 110bpm on the way
    Day 11 (08) : 100 clean, 110 with some misses, 120 kinda meh
    Day 12 (09) : same
    Day 13 (11) : feeling better on 110 (and a tiny bit on 120 as well)
    Day 14 (12) : didn't had that much time to practice, but a lil bit better at 110
    Day 15-16 (13-14) : training 110 and 120
    Day 17 (15) : mastering 120 and pushing myself to 130/140
    Day 18 (16) : same
    Day 19 (17) : 110 clean, 120 almost, 130 kinda good
    Day 20 (18) : 120 FCable, 130 nice, 140 kinda sloppy
    Day 21 (19) : same
    Day 22-28 (20-26) : went on vacation, but still played guitar
    Dayu 29 (27) : 120 clean, 130 same, 140 a lil bit better
    ...
    Day ___ (18/11/2023) : 160 and 170 mastered, working on 180

      @@Sparkey4646 in general, you should pick 3 to 5 exercises to do each day, then allocate 15 mins to each exercise
      Also, I'll suggest you to change the type of the exercises each day ; that way you'll progress smoothly on more topics (legato, sweep picking, string skipping...)

    When I started 160BPM was my peak.
    Today is my 6th day doing this challenge and 180Bpm is where I struggle so I have high hopes to reach 200 because so far its been showing results little by little.
    Now It’s my 20th day doing the exercise and I can reach 220 but not clean. I’m pretty sure that in the 10 days that remain I’ll be able to do my 200BPM over clean.
    Update: Today is my 31st day and I can do it til 220 and 230 is where I stuggle a bit but it was amazing improvement. Thank you Bernth for the amazing lesson.

    I started my max at 160 BPM, After a few weeks, 180 BPM is my new personal record! Thanks Bernth, slowly but surely, we will get there!

      Best instruction on the toob. Even if it's a bit advanced for some, there's something to take away. Between Bernth and application and Shred teaching theory you can go beast mode. Bernth is Paganini reborn, Shred I think is Bach. Crossed on a drunk Viking. Yeah.

    Damn it Bernth, I’ve been playing guitars for 34 years now! Never been great at it, just ok for what I did, using a lot of “cheap” uncontrollable techniques! But today, after watching many of your videos the last few months months, I downloaded a metronome to my phone, tuned my acoustic down to “all” drop D, and started a 60 bpm for all that I use as my warmups! And I’m trying to figure out those things I can make “sound” as if it’s fast playing, into something I actually can play! I’m now exited to see if I can progress my guitar skills at the age of 47! Really wished TH-cam and someone like you was around 34 years ago! You’re inspirational!

    On my first day (3 days ago) I was able to reach 140 with relative ease, 160 struggling and not even pick as fast as 190.
    Now, my 4th day, I can get to 150 easily, 170 with not so much struggle and 180 struggling hard. And at least I can pick as fast as 200bpm (even if my left hand do not follow.

    Doing this exercise made me realized that my fretting hand and picking hand are clearly not in sync lol way harder than it looks lol (sthird day 120 - 140 bpm). You are insane sir! hopefully one day I will be able to shred like you

      No worries, much more important to play it clean, there is a lot of fast guys where you can barely tell what they play through the dist pedals, the mix etc..that is boring. Just start where you can play it clean, that is all anyone can do. That is how everyone starts this stuff.

    Alternating strings was the breakthrough for me, 3 on one, 1 on the next, back to 3 on the first. So pattern of four, puts the upstroke on the next string which I was missing before. The triplets are great because the first note of the pattern alternates top/bottom

      140 BPM - June 16th.
      At faster bpms, i sense a lot of tension coming from my left hand, (my right hand is alright, keeping the tension under control).
      I am starting to get the grip of the "economy of motion".
      Next week, i gonna make 150BPM.

      A good guitar player can play slow AND fast... don't believe in that "you don't have to be fast" thing.

    Ight, starting the challenge today, Sat 29th July 2023, stuck on lvl 4, thank you though Bernth, all your exercises are fantastic!
    Day 2 turns out the lvl 4 was me deluding myself, stuck on lvl 2
    Day 3 - I'm regressing, can't even do lvl 2, will try to push tomorrow
    Day 4 -120bpm reached again, barely
    Day 5 - same as day 4
    Day 6 - Even though I was losing it, I pushed onto 130+140bpm, gonna try and really push over next few days, see what happens
    Day 7 - I've lost a lot of motivation since holidays, been big gaps between practice, need to stay motivated, and get through each day as it comes, I'll improve so long as I stick to it, 130bpm pretty rough but kinda there
    Day 8 - same as day 7
    Day 8 - Same as day 7, god this is hard
    Day 9 - What if i told you I was never gonna improve?

    Day 2: Made it to 170 but just like the first try, not really feeling that it sounds perfect. 160 has been achieved though. Tried 180 once and it sounds like a cat fight at midnight.

      Day 3: I like the way 170 sounds and 180 is sounding better, however decided to return to 160 and keep improving from there, no moving forward until it sounds perfect.

      Day 4: switching between 160 and 170. Started combining this challenge with the scale fragments (example 11) from John Petrucci's rock discipline

      Day 5: 170 started feeling normal but still, some room for improvement there. Tried 180 and it makes more sense now, like I was able to finish it at least, sound ugly though. 190 is a joke lol

    Also, I tried to match the way his picking hand is and the lesson he gave on it. I’ve played 20+ years with more of a Hammett/Dimebag style where my bottom three fingers stick out. Not sure if I should stick with how I’ve always done it or dedicate myself to completely changing my technique 🤔

    29-01-23 - 175 bpm - 200bpm (very sloppy) .. i just recently restarted playing guitar after almost 20 years, never used a pick before (i played when i was 14-18 and always fingerstyle) and now im able to alternate pick @175bpm on 2 strings after about a month (or two) of practice, to be continued.
    06-05-23: dropped @190 bpm but it's hard to do the whole challenge in one set my hand are tired super fast ..

    Day 2-3: practice without video
    Dat 4: can do 140bpm but need practice
    Day 6: i'm sick but can do 150bpm
    Day 23: A couple of weeks passed which I spent lerning mostly raining blood and I hit 200bpm but still need practice

    Day 1 (2/20/2023): Stuck at the warmup. I had to change the speed to .75
    Day 2(2/21): Kept practicing at .50 speed and got past the warmup. Stuck at 110 bpm

    Day1 15/04/2023 not even at the warm up speed.
    16/04/2023 getting comfortable with the pattern
    17/04/2023 if tried to go faster, the string strikes first and the fret is tapped later.
    18/04/2023 1 or 2 times it reaches almost 100beats per sec
    21/04/2023 reaching warmup speed, cant play along the beats and slow in reverse order

    Just watched this video some days ago and tried same idea but with another triplet that Kotzen uses, dude… couldn’t do on 170bpm, bought 5 different new picks and finally the jazz iii 1.5mm fitted so sweet and now 190 bpm is possible.

    Day 4: Played a bit and managed to reach 110 BPM only. 120 seems a little bit hard
    5 months later, I am able to play 140 bpm but 150 is sloppy

    Is this a good one when someone is first trying to learn how to do speed picking? I have played a good while just never got any good at sweeps, or serious alt. speed picking.

    Clean enough until 160bpm for today, but after 170 it gets very sloppy. Would be nice to have a similar speed exercise where different strings are combined, for a more "realistic" use case. Still very helpful in getting a burst. Thank you!

    Day 1 : 120 clean ,130 ascending part is clean struggling in descending part
    ( quick update lol ..after 20 minutes of practicing I can play 140 fluency both ascending and descending .
    After another 20 minutes 165 clear at 170 some notes I miss .. enough for today It took some time to understand the task ..I think I can go upto 200 in 1 month)

    140 - OK
    150 - tough, on limit
    160 - bad, with mistakes
    170 - cannot cope with this tempo

      150 - OK
      160 - on limit, not totally under control
      170 - bad, mistakes
      180 - unreal, no hand sync
      190 - right hand not fast enough. Impossible for now.
