@@cybergameextreme4463 They didn’t fight because of that, it’s because Godzilla and Anguirus is like a dog and a cat relationship, they are just natural enemies
One of the things I love the most about this fight in Godzilla history, and why I love this movie in general, is because of how ferocious it is. Two warring monsters, clawing and biting at each other with the intent to kill. In all later movies the fights were far more duelistic and reminiscent of pro wrestling... this is just two animals tearing into each other. And that music that begins at 3:20...dark, low tone, scary and slow compared to how ferocious the fight is. Love it.
King of the Monsters 2019 had some of that raw animalism in it's fights...Godzilla even bites off one of King Ghidorah's heads....and Mothra and Rodan snap and claw at each other quite a bit. But yeah, this fight does remind me a bit of lions, wolves or gorillas going at it in a battle for territorial dominance
The fight scenes between Godzilla & Angurius really makes this movie enjoyable, because the story is rather weak. One can tell that they rushed the production after Gojira came out. And it IS one of the BEST fight scenes in the franchise.👍
Apparently, the director was really pissed when he saw the footage. He instructed to camera operator to run it in slow-motion, so the monsters would appear huge and heavy. He misinterpreted the instructions and ran it in fast-motion instead, leading it to look... well, kinda silly, like a Benny Hill sketch. They didn't have the time or money to do it again, so they left it in.
I loved this Anguirus. He’s a little brawler and shrugs off several of G’s attacks. Took no shit, and came back for more with biting and clawing. Such a great fight!
It really does legitimately help build the tension by the fact that you barely hear any music at all for the first 4 minutes, and when it does fully come in, it sounds more like something from an old Resident Evil game than a Godzilla score.
This fight was more savage than it looks like. If you pay attention and look closely, you'll see blood on their necks. Sadly, it's almost invisible in black and white.
The attention to detail in this movie is vastly underrated. 1:05 Godzilla sprays Anguirus with his atomic blast; whatever doesn't directly hit Anguirus blows up everything in the background.
The first two Godzilla’s atomic breath was more like a firey breath than a beam like atomic breath like the rest of the Godzilla atomic breath. (Unlike Shin Godzilla’s 2 Atomic breath, Zilla jr, and 2014 Godzilla.
What I always wondered is why didn't toho return to this animalistic style of fighting? The rest of the Showa series did pro wrestling fighting and the Hesei series went beam wars.
I find it odd that these two start out as enemies considering that they become allies in later movies! Add to the fact that their fight takes place in Osaka makes this fight scene rather iconic and unforgettable considering that this was in the first Godzilla movie where he fights another monster.
Continuity was always pretty loose during the Showa era, pretty sure so many kaiju getting re-used in the Godzilla movies back then was more to save money on suits/designs than for any attempt at an overarching story or shared universe; continuity wouldn't really become a focus until the Heisei era.

I saw the first 3 Godzilla movies in order, so to me, as a kid, this was a huge step up from the first one and the first taste of Godzilla fighting other monsters. Nothing but good memories of this movie and I think it still holds up as an adult. It feels very much like a 1940/50's sci fi monster movie, which is great
So here's the thing, while they were filming these scenes, one of the camera men accidentally recorded it in fast motion, but the director loved it so much that they used it for shots throughout the movie.
Fun fact: The Anguirus suit was Emerald Green, and the carapace was 2 pieces as seen in this fight for a few seconds, though later in filming, they glued it together and made it one piece so it doesn’t fly everywhere.
The carapace was suppose to have been an attack that Anguirus could of use but for practical reasons, the carapace was too much of a hassle to work with, so it was glued together near the end of production.
The lack of any music throughout most of the video, and the quiet, dark score near the end just make this scene so unnerving and eerie. It’s pretty cool, honestly.
Given that Godzilla Minus One was a modern retelling of the Original Godzilla I wonder if it’s sequel (cause it’s definitely getting one) will be a modern retelling of Godzilla Raids Again, I would LOVE to see what the Minus One team would do with Anguirus!

My favorite fight in ANY Godzilla movie
Me too!
@@gyakushulivi3893 it’s more animalistic then the others, like if these 2 monster were really and fighting this is how I would picture it happening lol
@@epicfail9693 Me too, I always found it strange that this godzilla used martial arts on the other monsters in the following movies
It shocks me how many people believe the man in the suit videos are real
Review Japan for making such a powerful monster movie at that time.
When does jet jaguar fly into the battle is what I want to know
gman hirt Please tell me that was a joke
gman hirt your joking right?
Jet Jaguar didn't came to be until 1973's Godzilla vs. Megalon.
Godzilla needs to get better aim with his fire
We don’t call it “fire” I mean it dose but we don’t usually call it fire
3:14 There's your GMK.
They really made this more on the scary side
Anguirus doesn't get enough credit. If his fight here with Godzilla wasn't so good, there may have only been 2 Godzilla films, not 38. There may have only been 2 years of Godzilla films, not 70.
