You are a lifesaver! Half way through your story I was yelling at you saying...but MY wires are beeping too!!!!! The minute you said carbon monoxide detector I ran into the hallway, unplugged, and took the batteries out of the one directly below the "chirping wires!" Wish I would have discovered your video last night! Thank you!!!!!!
Thank you for solving our mystery!! My husband and I could not figure out why the wires in the ceiling were still chirping after removing the smoke alarm. Yes, there was a carbon monoxide detector with a low battery, right below the "chirping wires", gleefully chirping at us all along. Yes, time to change batteries in all the detectors with the new year approaching!! Thanks again!!
You are a life saver. After changing batteries and replacing smoke alarms, still chirping. After many days and hours listened to your video, starting checking to see what else it could be. Took smoke detectors down from power supply again, still chirping. Found out the Carbon monoxide detector had low battery. Thank you so much!
Thank you sir for reassuring us wires don’t chirp. After disconnecting all five smoke detectors in the house, including the hard wires, we found the chirping noise came from a moisture detector under the sink in the hallway bathroom. Thank god it is only 11pm, not 3 am. Your video is a life saver!.
Thank you! So obvious but didn't realize that I stored a smoke detector in my cabinet. Thought I was going crazy... God bless you for taking the time to post...
Sir thank you so much! I had the same problem... thinking the wires in the ceiling were chirping. Sure enough, it was a carbon monoxide detector at floor level right below the smoke detector. It had low batteries. Changed the batteries and no more chirping..... !!!!!!! THANKS AGAIN!!
Yes!!!! Thank you, NC Express Services, for posting this. And thanks to all the commenters!! You all solved my problem for me. Like most of you, I followed all steps one does to change out the battery, all to no effect. Once I changed the batteries on my carbon monoxide detector (in the same room as the suspected smoke detector), the chirping stopped. One more example of TH-cam coming to the rescue!!
You saved me! I thought my wires were chirping, but like you said I found another smoke detector that was hiding and it was chirping, and I fixed it by replacing the battery.
Been going crazy about the smoke detector beeping - bought a new one - new batteries - and a lot of bad language. Duh - it was the carbon monoxide detector below. Well, now we have a new smoke detector 'in case'. Thank you!!!
What does near the floor mean? My wires are chirping. I put new CO detector outside. Fire alarm still chirping. It’s brand new. Update: Mine was the Honeywell photo eye dome model not one of the hard wired Kidde fire alarms and not the CO. 😳
It is possible for the wires in the ceiling to chirp. When I moved into my home the detectors had been removed. I replaced them with battery operated detectors. My detector was chirping so I replaced the battery. The chirping continued. I took the detector down and set it in another room. I then discovered that there is still chirping from the old hardwired outlet. I am sure it is old because the house is 14 years old. I just thought that the wired harness is going bad and the chirping was to let me know that I need to replace the entire wiring. Please give me some feeback.
Sorry for the delay, I do not check video comment often. Hopefully you found the culprit and now know that the wires do not chirp. The sound can be very deceptive as to where it originates and has driven many people crazy. The culprit is usually another detector on the ceiling nearby or a CO2 detector that may be plugged into an outlet or installed at floor level. Let us know what you find.
Replaced old smoke alarm. Still chirping coming from the same area. Are you saying that the chirping is coming from a carbon monoxide alarm behind the new smoke alarm in the wall ?
CO2 detectors are often found lower near the floor and often after market units plugged into a receptacle. Also versify that you replace the battery with a new one. The sound can be deceiving and in newer homes detectors can be found in bedrooms and hallways making it appear they the sound is coming from somehow here else. If you remove the detector complexly and no longer hear the sound, either that detector is bad or the battery is.
@Bob: One minute the chirp is coming from the living area, then it sounds like it is coming from hall by the 2nd bedroom, then it sounds like it is coming from the kitchen area, I removed the smoke alarms and it’s still chirping -- coming from the wires where the smoke alarm was in the living area 😂 I called a friend over and she said the same thing - that the chirping is coming from different areas of the condo. I was losing my mind. Then I googled it after listening to this for 2 weeks. After reading comments - other people experienced the same thing and found it was coming from a carbon monoxide detector. I didn’t know that I had a carbon monoxide detector. I looked behind a bookcase below where the smoke alarm is and there it was -- in the wall closer to the floor. 😂😂😂😂
I am 100% sure I have a house wiring issue that causes this sound. It happens every time the compressor in my mini fridge engages. I think its a bad wire experencing a high amp draw between the outlet & the breaker. I dont think it is causing any seirious problems yet but I am concerned that it could cause a fire inside the walls or even a complete power outtage. Any thoughts on this? I think it may be a freyed wire somewhere between the outlets in my room & the breaker box.
TheAtom Usually when a high amperage device starts such as a refrigerator or air conditioner it could cause a breaker to “hum” for a second. If the wire connection was loose it would create a sparking sound not a chirping. I hope you find it and please make sure you have it looked at, loose wiring could be dangerous.
@@ncexpressservices I think its a TV antenna on our roof thats somehow messing with the house wiring. We're going to try having it removed or disconnect it from the house wiring. We dont even use it anyways.
I just changed my smoke detectors to new ones but the wires are still beeping. I disconnected them left the wires without connecting but it still beeps and the alarms are out. Batteries were changed to new ones
Thanks for reaching out. If you are 100% there is no CO2 detector any place, verify that the batteries are good and you didn't grab a bad one. If you have the battery in and the detector in your hand, go into another room away from that area and see if it still chirps. If it does, the detector may be bad. The have a date on the back, if they are 8 years old it is probably time to replace them. Remember, people in the comments found CO2 detectors, in drawers, behind cabinets plugged into the wall. Good luck!

Thanks for posting! Glad to know I’m not crazy!!!
THANK YOU!!! I was about to go on a massive Home Depot fire alarm shopping spree when the whole time it was a detector near the floor.
Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
At 39 seconds and I love this guy already!
This video saved my sanity!!!! It wasn't the smoke detector, it was the Carbon Monoxide detector!!!!

God Bless you. It was my carbon monoxide alarm failing. I wasted 4 hrs, a bunch of money in batteries and a lot of stress on this.
Thank you, found my second problem with this video. I too thought my ceiling wires were chirping.
Oh my gosh thank you so much for sharing, i found a carbon monoxide detector hidden in my hall closet that was the source of the beeping
Very helpful! Having the same problem and find my carbon monoxide detector behind the door! Thank You
Holly crap it literally was the carbon monoxide detector right under the smoke detector lol I swore to god my wires were chirping
Thank you so much! I had a good laugh at myself for thinking the wires were chirping. It was the CO alarm underneath.
Thanks so much! It was the smoke detector!!!!
That was it a co2 alarm neerby!! Thank you!!!!!

My wires chirp! I have checked everything and the chirping continues!

CO detector is often the culprit.

Good information, but it would be an improvement if you immediately got to the point!
Thanks!

What if you don't have co detector?
dave roberts It will be another smoke detector or some other device that beeps when it has a low battery.
I literally typed in chirping wires..... but ur wrong about one thing.....its 4am not 3am and I used my fist instead of a broom
👍
